I agree! I need to pick up a hook again. It's been awhile. Seems like I go through streaks! I did make a scarf for Emma for Christmas but that has been it!It helps if you leave a long tail on the last round of each square, so you can sew it to another one. It also helps to make strips of granny squares the length of the afghan, then sew the strips together. There are also ways to crochet squares together.
I tend to work on squares or motifs (or winter hats) in the summertime, when it's too hot to work on an afghan in my lap. This time of year, though, I love working on a one-piece afghan when it's about two-thirds done! It keeps me cozy while it's still being made!
Amen!A Kindle is a traveler's best friend!
Our friends went to Hawaii for 14 days several years ago & it rained EVERY SINGLE DAY! It was the rainiest season they had for a very long time. They had many mud slides. Sure hope that doesn't happen for us!!I can tell you from experience that the Hilo side is the rainy side of the island! You can expect a shower almost every day, at any time of day, at a moment's notice...and sometimes it'll be rainy down in Hilo, but partially clear as you drive up the mountain, or vice versa. But when we go, we're there to spend time with Gloria, so the weather doesn't matter too much. It's glorious when the sun shines, though!
I hope it's not rainy for you. You need to see how beautiful a place it is!Our friends went to Hawaii for 14 days several years ago & it rained EVERY SINGLE DAY! It was the rainiest season they had for a very long time. They had many mud slides. Sure hope that doesn't happen for us!!

Oh, these five-day weeks ... I keep thinking today is Wednesday! Especially because I had to work until 7 p.m. last night. Wish it were Wednesday ...
It is icky out there today!! That wind!!! And rain...boooo! Congrats on the few Christmas finds!! Hope you are having a great day!!Good Morning, MMC!!! It's a rainy day here in Central Indy with some strong winds too. It's a lot warmer though so I'll take it. I spent about 2 hours walking around walmart this morning with mom so she could get some exercise in. I found a few more odds and ends in the Christmas section but not much. Now I'm just trying to get some cleaning done around the apartment. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!
Isn't it great "chill" music?@MerryCarey - I googled "Hawaiian slack-key guitar renditions of Christmas songs" - listening now! Loving it!

I agree ... the slack-key guitar has a whole different vibe. It's not the twangy steel guitar that most people associate with Hawaii; it's more of an acoustic folk-guitar vibe.Ha ha! Not even close!![]()
