Yippee! Have a great time! Aren't movie nights with snacks and drinks the best?

We were going to watch "Holiday Inn" for New Year's, but watched something else instead ... I think we watched Christmas/NewYear's episodes of "Mrs. Brown's Boys"! I like the movie, but I just want to shake Fred Astaire's character for being such a jerk sometimes.

Sounds of the Season Holiday STILL going! I'm sorry to be going on and on about this, but this is insane for it to be running this long. When I saw the schedule this year for it to end on Jan 8 that's about the latest it would have gone in recent memory. But wow, we are literally almost half way into January and it is still going. Every time I've woken up in the morning and come from work at night and seen it still on this week has really made my day. I don't mean to make it such a big deal, but this is something I pay attention to every year since it is always the last thing to go from the holiday season. Now I'm just getting greedy and wanting it to last even longer.

@MerryCarey:

I tried that vanilla eggnog recipe you sent me a couple weeks ago. It works!

I made a few alterations, doubled the portions, added an additional egg, added a little coffee creamer, sugar and vanilla to taste. It's great!

I'm drinking it now. Tastes just like the vanilla eggnog I purchased when I couldn't find any regular eggnog a couple of weeks ago.

Some of the other recipes I read online involve such a long process of mixing things together at different times, heating things up before adding, then refrigerating overnight. Way too much of an involved process if you're not up for it.

I went to the market the other day and asked a worker if they still had eggnog and he looked at me like I was speaking to him in an alien language.

Anyways, thanks so much! Today and tomorrow marks my final really dedicated celebration of the holiday season before I need to get on with life. So it's great having this to sip on.

Glad to hear it worked!

The reason many recipes call for heating/cooking is that you're really not supposed to consume uncooked egg because there's a slight risk of salmonella ... same reason we're advised not to eat raw cookie dough. So if you're willing to take a slight risk, enjoy your eggnog whenever you darn well please!

Eh, it is what it is. I can't imagine the risk is that bad when you consider the large quantity of eggs sold at every supermarket all the time. You could probably eat too many tomatoes or apples and have the same risk of getting something, especially with all the whatnot they put into growing it.

Anyways, thanks again for the recipe!

I have one bottle left of Trader Joe's Apple Cider in my pantry. Should I open it this weekend while watching the NFL playoff games or save it for later when I want to bring back a bit of the Christmas spirit?

My honest opinion, open it this weekend.

Reason being, this time next week all anyone is going to be thinking about, talking about, doing anything about, is politics. Regardless of where you are on the spectrum, this weekend is the last quiet before the inevitable storm. And you have to ask yourself, amidst all that turmoil, can you really sit around and keep celebrating Christmas, no matter how neutral you try to be? Again, not trying to make this a political debate. Personally, I say politics schmolitics. Just saying, that a week from now, it might seem a bit, I don't know, can you really sit there and keep celebrating Christmas when all this political drama is happening around? Not insinuating jumping into action, just enjoy it now while you can is what I say. Again, not trying to be a downer on anything, just saying, our beloved Christmas season is soon going to be quite overshadowed by political discourse.

Thanks Edge! Me too! Sis is with her now - said she seems fine. With her being on Coumadin, a fall is always an extra scary thought!
I'm very sorry to read this Holiday but glad to know that the doctor said she was ok after the fall. Do you know how it happened? I was on Coumadin for a year after a pulmonary embolism and I totally understand how scary any type of injury can be. I'm keeping your mother in my thoughts and hoping for her to be home next week. Sending hugs to you and Gracie.

Thanks made! I'll get the PCBs next week because Mikes grandparents house is still decorated for Christmas. She won't take anything down until all the family has visited for the holidays and we are usually the last to visit them

Glad you'll get one more taste of Christmas! Enjoy it!!

Funny you should say that. I went grocery shopping after work and was hoping to see Cadbury cream eggs. Nothing for now though, barely even any Valentine's Day treats, which is strange.

I've been seeing all of the talk about the Cadbury Oreo eggs online the last couple of days and thinking I need to plan a trip north of the border. Lol!!!

Morning! A few people took their lights down as I saw they weren't lit this morning. But there's still a bunch that have them on. TGIF by the way (how could I forget that). Friday the 13th today...hope everyone doesn't have any bad luck. Looks like our temperatures start out mild this morning and drop during the day. The weekend looks normal temps and we will be missing the snow/ice that much of the middle part of the country will get. Looking forward to this weekend for sure.
Have a good one!

Good Friday morning! I have a day off but lots to do. We'll take down our Christmas decorations today, on top of running errands, laundry and the usual chores. I just realized that I haven't had two days off in a row since Christmas and it's tiring me out. Have to wait till January 20th for that. have a great day everyone!

Good Morning, Everyone.

Moving in really, really close now on 2017 Milestone number 1!

This morning's numbers:
Days to the Season: 304
Days to Christmas Day: 346

Barely over HALF a week left now until the 300-day Season Window and the start of a 200's level Season count.
(Wow!)

So nice to relax once again with temperatures in the 60's instead of the teens!
This should hold for today as well, before somewhat chillier weather returns again for tomorrow.
We are at 56 degrees here right now.

Have a Fabulous Friday, Friends.
And enjoy your second Weekend Eve of 2017!
