I just wanted to say a special thank you to everyone who posted words of comfort and support and for coming to my side when I needed it most. We are doing our best at the moment to cope with our loss. Working through our grief and just trying very hard to accept. It's our second time losing a baby so lots of emotions resurfacing along with new.

I feel bad for putting this here on the countdown. I know it's the last thing people want to read but just wanted to say thank you for the posts and prayers. They mean a lot to me.

Praying all is well with you all.

My prayers are with you {{{hugs}}

Hello I'm new here to the forum and am really happy to have found the site. I began noticing about nine years ago after Christmas had passed just how much I missed it. I live in the northeast where January and February are cold and kinda flat following the Christmas season. Nine years ago I began my own little countdowns looking ahead to the next holiday season. I started out with telling myself 36 ten day stretches would get me back to five days from Christmas and somehow that sounded like not such a long wait. I Also told myself there are only 26 two week stretches in a year and that also didn't seem to bad seeing how two weeks goes so fast. Since then I have focused on 1/4, 1/3,halftime, 2/3 and 3/4 marks. My big goal every year seems to be to reach August 1, which brings a new football season, and puts so many great holidays within reach such as Halloween, Thanksgiving and of course Christmas! Kinda nice I can say it's halfway to August 1 in just a couple days now. Anyway to make a long story short I was happy to find this group that seems to enjoy counting it down in the same way I do! I really find the grind through the year is kind of as fun as the season itself. Once Christmas season arrives it is epic, but goes by in a flash putting us right back in January, and so it is important to enjoy all times of the year. I look forward to counting down 2017 with you! Take care to everyone.

Welcome to the countdown! :)

You are definitely in the right place.
Your thoughts are similar to what mine were I first hatched the idea of a Christmas Season count, making for a shorter wait. I floated the idea at Christmas.com many years ago not really expecting much interest, but with early support from Binger and others, I introduced it into the countdown to accompany the one to Christmas Day. It caught on and the rest is Happy Holiday History!

Welcome to the Countdown thread, Jason!

Good Sunday morning, Christmas friends!

My Boston butt came out of the smoker just right yesterday, but I think I over-cooked the chicken. I need some more practice. Yes!

We're scrambling to get ready for church on time.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Good Sunday morning! It was snowing earlier but now it seems the sun wants to come out. Turns out we relaxed all day yesterday, so today we have chores to do and errands to run. But we got up early so I'm thinking we should be all done by 1pm. Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning, Folks.

Two weeks to go!
(Details ahead.)

Days to the Season: 288
Days to Christmas Day: 330

Yes, February 12 is exactly two weeks away.
<< What is the significance of that, Crown? >>
Well, the fact is, that date will see us complete the entire first quarter of our journey to Christmas Season 2017.
<< Wow, Crown! >>
You said it, little voice.

Still chilly (meaning coat, not jacket) weather.
This morning sees us starting off here at 37 degrees and we will be lucky to get out of the 40's this afternoon. Tomorrow night will see us down into the 20's. Brrrr!

Have a Super Sunday, Everyone!
Enjoy the remainder of your Weekend.

Welcome, Jason! So funny we did the same thing before I found MMC and these great people. Rest assured...if you like counting down to Christmas...you have found the right place!

Wow....almost to the 1st qtr. mark? Amazing.

Yesterday was a good day! Our little birthday party was a blast and my group went out to eat. My Mom came along and ending up buying our supper. How cool is that? Getting to hang out with those you love most and getting to eat for free! Almost like Christmas!

Today, I've got some cooking to do for the week and then it is outside playtime. I got a new bandsaw last night, so there area few projects I want to do...as if I needed a reason to be outside. With no football game on, I will likely spend all day out there.

Y'all have a good day and I will see you later this week!

Brad did you get an electric or charcoal smoker? I have never used electric but have used charcoal smokers for over 30 years. I will give you some help with smoking turkeys if you ever want to delve into it and keep a moist turkey.

Thanks Crown! Hard to believe we're just 2 weeks away from 25% of the way there already!

Morning MMC! I have a lot of things to do today around the home. I have some homework to finish, taxes to do, laundry and take my tree down. Oh yeah I am taking it down finally but as I do it I'll think about how amazing it's going to be to put it back up in about 300 days from now. Other than that I am going to relax this evening and I'm excited about the Superbowl next Sunday. That's sort of my own first mile stone I have after New Years.
Have a great Sunday!

Welcome to the forums, Jason!

Whew!! Who knew car shopping could be so tiring. I ended up getting a 2014 Kia Forte. It was a couple thousand less than the fords and Chevys I was looking at and about half the miles.
Congrats Made...my friend has a Kia and likes it a lot!

Happy Sunday! I am relaxing and enjoying a cup of coffee. I have to pick up my oldest daughter from a sleepover and then my youngest has a game at 1. I also have to run to the grocery store too. Hope you all have a great day!
