I hope you're all enjoying your Sunday!

We're picking up the house because we're having a friend in this afternoon for a late gift exchange and maybe some film. Had to pause for a cup of tea.

Yesterday I found an app for my laptop---turns the desktop into a fireplace. Choice of several different fireplaces (including a grouping of candles), plus the sound of a fire if you want it. So cozy! The same developer has an app that turns the desktop into an aquarium. Maybe I'll get that one for summertime.

Whew!! Who knew car shopping could be so tiring. I ended up getting a 2014 Kia Forte. It was a couple thousand less than the fords and Chevys I was looking at and about half the miles.
Good for you!!

Brad did you get an electric or charcoal smoker? I have never used electric but have used charcoal smokers for over 30 years. I will give you some help with smoking turkeys if you ever want to delve into it and keep a moist turkey.
I got this one:

And I would appreciate tips to keep the meat moist!

Morning MMC! I have a lot of things to do today around the home. I have some homework to finish, taxes to do, laundry and take my tree down. Oh yeah I am taking it down finally but as I do it I'll think about how amazing it's going to be to put it back up in about 300 days from now. Other than that I am going to relax this evening and I'm excited about the Superbowl next Sunday. That's sort of my own first mile stone I have after New Years.
Have a great Sunday!
Enjoy your relaxing evening, Edge!

Enjoy the new car Made, congratulations!

Glad you got a good deal Made. Enjoy your car!

Congrats Made...my friend has a Kia and likes it a lot!

Good for you!!

Thanks, Everyone!!!! I've been out getting it nice and dirty in the snow and salt today.

It was literally perfect timing yesterday. I got there just as the people were turning it back in from their lease. They didn't even have time to change the oil in it. So I have to take it back up tomorrow for them to service it and hopefully clean it again. LOL!!

And a crisp 24 here in SDland. Sorry about your Panthers, but I always thought Ryan deserved that shot at the big game. I will be ready to watch it one week from tomorrow... GO Falcons!!

Go Falcons! I am cheering for them even though I am from "Patriotland."

Hello I'm new here to the forum and am really happy to have found the site. I began noticing about nine years ago after Christmas had passed just how much I missed it. I live in the northeast where January and February are cold and kinda flat following the Christmas season. Nine years ago I began my own little countdowns looking ahead to the next holiday season. I started out with telling myself 36 ten day stretches would get me back to five days from Christmas and somehow that sounded like not such a long wait. I Also told myself there are only 26 two week stretches in a year and that also didn't seem to bad seeing how two weeks goes so fast. Since then I have focused on 1/4, 1/3,halftime, 2/3 and 3/4 marks. My big goal every year seems to be to reach August 1, which brings a new football season, and puts so many great holidays within reach such as Halloween, Thanksgiving and of course Christmas! Kinda nice I can say it's halfway to August 1 in just a couple days now. Anyway to make a long story short I was happy to find this group that seems to enjoy counting it down in the same way I do! I really find the grind through the year is kind of as fun as the season itself. Once Christmas season arrives it is epic, but goes by in a flash putting us right back in January, and so it is important to enjoy all times of the year. I look forward to counting down 2017 with you! Take care to everyone.

Welcome to the Countdown and MMC!

Good evening,

Got in to late last night to pop in, we went to the home opener for the Black Wolves. It was a great game vs the Buffalo Bandits, the Wolves scored the winning goal with less than a minute to play. We were also part of the Black Wolves first sell out in team history, since the team moved from Philadelphia three seasons ago. Next game is Friday night against the Rochester Knighthawks.
My one day off has gone too fast today, back to the grind in the morning.

I hope you all had a good weekend.

Goodnight, everyone

Happy Superbowl Week! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm looking forward to next weekend already because I will be off Monday (day after the Superbowl). Will be my 1st 3 day weekend since New Years. Sounds like we had a chance for a big storm later next weekend but that it will not happen. Seems like it's been that way this winter with missed opportunities for a big snowstorm. Should be a normal week temps wise with some light snow a couple of days. Anyway, it's my busiest week of the month at work so the days will be a blur. Enjoy your Monday!

Good Morning, Everybody.
Another week closer to the end of January.
Another week closer to the end of winter.
And, of course, another week closer to Christmas Season 2017!

Days to the Season: 287
Days to Christmas Day: 329

And finally, another week closer to our next Milestone which just happens to be number two on our Countdown chart located in post number 1 of this thread.
Which marker is it?
Well, regular readers will instantly know that it is the 1/4 point to the Season and will arrive on February 12, now LESS than two weeks away.
(Jumpin' Jingle Bells, Folks!)

The chilly weather (not truly cold, really) is here to stay for a while but with no precipitation and little wind to speak of, it's not too bad for late January in these parts. This AM has dawned clear at 34 degrees here in the capital city.

Have a Marvelous Monday, Friends.
And I hope your new week is off to a great beginning!
