Christmas Countdown - 2017

Happy Friday!! We woke up to rain once again but I think it is supposed to clear this afternoon. Unfortunately, I have both my kids home from school...my oldest one woke me up 2x last night with what I think sounds like a sinus headache. My youngest one has a cough/cold and a fever of 101 last night. So we may just have a low key weekend at home and probably just grill out here. My youngest has her dance recital tomorrow night so hopefully with some rest/fluids she will feel ok. Hope you all have a great day and weekend!

I hope both your kids are feeling better quick & you all have a nice Memorial weekend! I can't wait to fire up the grill - maybe tonight! :)

Well it's the last day of school here and it looks like the rain will hold off for the kid's field day. The people at the track will be happy too. I hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend!!!

Hope the kids all have a fun last day of school! Yesterday was the last day here - we had kids all over town last night. LOL! Lots of houses with TP in their tree's this morning! :p

Less than two weeks now.
And after that -- well -- after that, BOTH of our counts will start with that coveted number ONE!


More rain fell yesterday. But not as hard and not as often, as relief approaches.
Today should be blessedly dry and we can use the break.
Currently, it is clear/sunny and we are greeted this Weekend Eve morning with a temperature reading of 62 degrees here in central North Carolina.

It's based on the same story that "You've Got Mail" is based on ... a great M-G-M movie called "Shop Around the Corner." "Summertime" takes place throughout the year, but culminates in a scene set at a big Christmas party. Great cast!

The original film, "Shop Around the Corner," starts earlier in the year, but most of it takes place around Christmastime, and it wraps up on Christmas Eve. I love that movie! It's the performances and the mix of characters that's always interesting.
 
As we prepare for our Memorial Day weekends and are eager to open the summer season, remember to give thanks for those in military service who gave their lives for their countries. Memorial Day was initiated to honor them, and we should remember the sacrifice of those who gave up their future summers to serve their countries.

I have "Shop Around the Corner" & I saw in the preview that "The Good Old Summertime" was based on SATC! I haven't seen Summertime but Mom/Emma said it had a lot of Christmas in it - hence the reason they figured I would like it. Ha ha!! Such great classics!
