Good morning MMC!

Going to be another hot day here I think we're finally getting our one week of summer in LOL.

Off to church in a couple of hours. After that I've got my daughter over for lunch and when I go pick up my other one from work and take them both home. Then I'm going to get that box of Christmas lights out for a little better look. I even have my son excited he says we're going to have the most lights of anybody in the whole neighbourhood and he's probably right.

I love to crank up the tunes on the radio in the van too. People can give you the strangest looks when you're sitting in your vehicle at a light singing loud with your songs and they are Christmas ones.

My arm is getting better every day and I hopeful when I go to the doctor on Tuesday that she gives me the green light to go back to work.

Our fall fair is coming up in September and the book of things You can enter is sitting on my kitchen counter while I practice some of the recipes. They actually have about five recipes written in the book that you have to do. Of course there's also lots and lots of stuff you make on your own which to me is more of a true test of showing off your skills then just copying a recipe.
So the recipes in the book I am doing up now to practice and see what they're like so my family gets a few goodies to eat and hopefully they turn out good. I really don't like their lemon curd recipe mine is so much better. Oh well it is what it is.

Hoping you all have a fantastic day
I hope you get some positive news from the doctor on Tuesday. Time is a necessary "pain" for our body to heal. Sounds like you'll have some fun baking for the upcoming fair. What are the 5 mandatory recipes? Hope those old-fashioned Christmas lights brighten your day :)

Good Morning my Merry Chums!

I don't think I've told you about the hawk(s) in my backyard. I spotted the nest back in early May when the trees weren't adorned with as many leaves as we have now.

The first time I spotted the hawk, a BlueJay landed on a branch in the same tree and wasn't at all disturbed by the hawk.

O'Malley and I hear the screeching at the same time every morning and every evening. I used to think they were giving themselves up to announce their presence, but since learned that they're actually warning other hawks that this is their territory and/or communicating to their mate and young.

I've watched birds sit motionless on the ground near the cedar shrubs sometimes for several minutes, when the hawk has come to call and it reminds me of how perfectly still old Dexter (huge white shepherd/hound cross) was when we heard the coyotes at my cousins property by the river.

I have 3 Robins visiting regularly and I've watched them grow and fend for themselves. I believe their mom was killed by the hawk. Robin usually build their nest high in trees and these youngsters are nesting in the cedar shrub; I'm guessing they took over a chickadee nest.
Sometimes the circle of life is sad, yet I understand that the hawks deserve to live.

Many years ago, they brought a few hawks in at the airport to control the seagulls and reduce the risk of take off and landing mishaps. I'm guessing these hawks are a kin to those original birds of prey.

Anyway ... going to hop in the shower soon and then call my mom and see if she's up to going somewhere for lunch. I love taking her out; she's a bit sluggish starting out due to mobility and vision issues, but by the time we're heading back, she seems more spry. We have concerts in the park at the waterfront every weekend so I'll suggest that as an option. It does her good to get out of the house and it gives my dad a bit of a break.

Keep a merry thought in your head! :blinky:
I have a entire city of birds in my backyard pine, so I don;t have to go far, but if I want even closer, I just have to go downstairs, where my daughter as provided for 2 parrots, 3 cockatiels and about a dozen other small fowls. Makes for some interesting sounds at times.

Good Sunday morning! You couldn't ask for a more perfect Summer morning. Lots to do today, groceries and some house cleaning that I put off during our vacation. First we'll take Loki out for a long walk by the lake at the park. Have a wonderful day everyone!

I actually have avoided most celebrations, be it Canada's 150th or Montréal's 375th, because I hate crowds. Even going for a show at the Montreal Just for Laughs fest this week, I did not feel well when there were too many people around me on the streets. Your upcoming vacation sounds great, especially sailing. You're brave to want to drive though, I've only passed through Toronto with someone else driving and it would drive me nuts. Enjoy your day with your mother today.

I think I'll be able to convince my husband to take in the comedy festival next year. We watch it often and I know I'd enjoy it. I'd also like to visit "old Montreal" to snap photos of the scenery, perhaps that could be a winter evening escapade.

The crowd thing for me has to do with not wanting strangers to brush up against me or interfere with my enjoyment.

Toronto traffic is crazy; can't get more than 3 vehicles through an intersection at a time and pedestrians seem to cross in a mob despite the colour of the lights. Cyclists ring their bells 3 times and speed through. I just don't want to hit anybody or have a driver collide with me. I'm a very alert driver and at my eye appointment last week, the doctor said, "You have amazing peripheral vision." I said it came from growing up with brothers I didn't always trust and from driving.

Have a great day!

Good Morning Martine. Sometimes those pesky vacations just mean other items need to be put on the back burner... ;)
Have a fun Sunday and I'm sure Loki will welcome the walk...

Okay gang. The big hand is almost on the 12 and the little hand on the eight, so by my estimates, it is time to get outside and start the day.
Have a blessed day everyone and I'll check in from time to time during the day, as my body says... "Are you nuts? Take a break already!"

Good morning, friends. I come to you this morning from my deck where the temperature is cool 65 degrees and windy.

THIS IS WEATHER I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

I'm going to sit outside this morning and drink my coffee. I usually get to start doing this around September, but I can't recall doing it in July. Our weather for the next 10 days doesn't call for a single day in the 90's! Pretty uncommon for us. It usually stays in the 90s all during August and then we start to get some days in the 80's late in September. I will take any cooler weather I can get. Makes me think of the 'Bers that much more!

Not too long from now, I'm going to pack my bag and get ready to go. Hopefully, I will get to drop by in the afternoons and visit. If not, see y'all Friday morning!

Lol...that sounds like D.C. traffic. I used to pull some duty there every couple of months for 2 or 3 weeks at a time. It didnt take me long to realize you gave nobody a break so they could turn and go. They would gang up on you and that 1 person would turn into 30.

Greetings Christmasstar. I do the same with the car CD player. Want to know something? People give you even weirder looks if you are singing to some old Disney feature toons. Just try singing "I Have No Strings" and watch the reactions... lol
Good for you! I like the classic-era Disney songs and music too! (It took me years to "get" all the lyrics to "I've Got No Strings" because of the various accents!)

Good Morning!!! I feel like mother nature gave us a fall preview this weekend as the weather is so fall like and is PERFECT!!!! I made a couple loaves of banana bread the other day and completely forgot to add the baking soda so it came more dense then we like so instead of wasting it I sliced up a loaf this morning and made french toast with it. Topped them with whipped cream and chocolate sauce ... it was a hit with the family.

Yesterday while shopping a stumbled across a great deal. My mom was been wanting a porch rocker so I started pricing them with the intent to get her one for Christmas. Went to Walmart yesterday for a few things and walked out in the lawn and garden area and found 2 in the clearance section but were not marked with a price. The woman there scanned it and it came up as $17!!!!! SOLD!!!! it will now sit in my shed for the next few months :) Her main gift is now done!

Afternoon coach. Glad to hear your weather is cooperating with your desires today. We are in the low 70's right now and luckily most of my yard work is done. Now it's break time. Have a great and safe time on your vacation and if we do not hear from you while you are gone, believe me when I say (for all of us) we understand. Take care...

Afternoon Gunny. That is one of the many reasons I moved away from the big city. I grew up in LA and the traffic even back in the 70's was horrendous.
Enjoy these last two days of July Marine...

Hi there Merry. Yes, unfortunately, like everything else it seems, Disney seems to have gotten away from the truly "family friendly" films. I really miss the older days, including up to the turn of the century. I trust your last couple of days of July are going well and that you are well prepared for August...

Good Afternoon Minta. Great job on the rocker deal. I work for Wally World and so even I wait at times for the prices to go down (especially on Christmas items). Quick thinking on the Banana bread and I'm glad it turned out so well with the family. I hope tomorrow goes as well for you weather wise as today has. It will be a nice ending for July. Have a beautiful day...

Good Afternoon. That was nice of you to include that info for the MMC family. As for me, I still have enough Christmas stuff for twelve trees, so if anything, I need to get rid of some. Have a great time on the last day of CIJ viewing on QVC. Just out of interest sake, when do they start it for the actual holiday season?

I miss the hand-drawn artistry of the classic-era Disney work. Today, though, I imagine that work would cost so much that a hand-drawn feature could never turn a profit. Thank heaven the vintage Disney features have been preserved and are (mostly) still available.

And yes, July is gliding smoothly on not August so far, thanks! And this year's Christmas projects are already under way.
