GM MMC...happy Pines! Just working today...I took next Tuesday off as my kids start back to school on the 30th so I was thinking maybe we will do some last minute shopping and have a lunch date. Hope you all have a great day!

BTW-has anyone noticed that it is getting darker earlier? I noticed it last night...hmmm just another sign of fall coming!

Morning gang! Merry Pines Day!!

I already posted this in the prayer request, but if anyone who doesn't check that thread would like an update...
Please keep Gracie in your prayers. She had to spend the night at the doggie hospital last night for IV. :( He did a blood test on her & all her levels are out of whack! Her white/red blood count, & BUN are low. Her phosphorus is high. I'm not having a good feeling about this. My poor sweet girl!
It was so strange not having her at home last night & this morning. She missed her peeps walking by for their 1st day of school this morning! Her favorite thing to do is bark at them. LOL!!

Yes I have noticed it here too for a few weeks. I always find the the days seem to get shorter at a faster rate once September hits too. More reason to want fairy lights up. Have a great day!

Good Morning Britain had a segment about Christmas starting. Eeek!

Also, supermarkets have started stocking our traditional Christmas Chocolates tub right on schedule! Usually starts around now!
Always an exciting moment to see them appear!
Can you tell us more about traditional Christmas chocolates and chocolate Advent calendars in the U.K.? We don't have those in the U.S., and I'm curious about them after hearing about them in U.K. TV shows! (e.g., Mrs. Brown's Boys mentioned something called "Chocolate Kimberley.")

Good Morning, Super Serious Season Supporters!
(We also support our Milestone markers. And the next one is nearly here!)

Days to the Season: 82
Days to Christmas Day: 124

And the marker that is about to arrive is none other than the TWO-THIRDS point to Christmas Day, and it now stands just TWO days into the future.
(That's THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, Guys!)

We are looking forward to tomorrow, when we will finally break this steady drumbeat of 90 + degree highs.
While the mid-80's is not great, it will come as a welcome improvement, however brief.
Today has commenced here in the capital city at 75 degrees.

Have a Woderful Wednesday, Folks!
I hope to see everyone at the 'Pines this evening as Carl's summertime entertainment themes begin to wind down at the approach of the the 'bers!
(We are getting toward the time of year when our friendly activities director begins to get frisky!)
You KNOW the pool is going to break out in bubble bath at least once more before it closes for the season ...

Yes ... when that happens, I begin to miss the extended daylight. The only thing that consoles me is Christmas lights!

Yes, my wife and I remarked last night that we had the lights on early.

Get well soon Gracie!

Good morning, everyone!

We're indeed a week away from the final day of August. The weather patterns seem to have shifted along with the dwindling days of summer. We're only to reach the low 70s/20s today. Much of the forecast is the same, too. No temperatures higher than the mid 20s. It's perfect running weather... as long as the wind remains calm!

I have a few things that must get done today, unfortunate. I have to wash/clean/vacuum the car. I also have to go out for a run, go to the gym, and play a league game of Ultimate tonight. My legs and body are going to feel awful tomorrow. Normally, I would be happy to rid my run from the day plans, but I don't know if I can do anything active this weekend, so I have to fit it in during the week. Oh well!

Have a great Wednesday, everyone! Looking forward to seeing the near end of summer celebrations at the 'Pines this evening!

One of the toughest things is leaving a pet somewhere...hopefully she'll be home ASAP.

The total eclipse was a sight to behold! We had no trouble getting home. DD & I went outside every 15 minutes to see the changes. Yesterday was the only time I've seen all of our neighbors outside at the same time. You could hear the "Ooohs & Aaaahs" across the neighborhood. We also heard the fireworks at the park when the total eclipse came. DD & I were too scared to take our glasses off during the total eclipse---DH was calling us from work every few minutes to be sure we were paying attention! He was frustrated with us that we wouldn't take our glasses off, but we didn't want to take any chances with our eyesight! He got some good pictures of the eclipse & video of the crazy traffic in front of his office. Moving on, is it Labor Day yet? I'm ready to go on our annual Labor Day weekend camping adventure.
Sounds like the eclipse was amazing in your area. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it. Hopefully we will have a display like that in 2024!
Have a great day Whitney!

Good evening all!

It has been a few days since I have been around. Today was he first day of school. Busy day, but all went well. I am looking forward to tomorrow and actually getting to teach instead of going over syllabi and class rules and all such.

One of the great things about school starting is that means Fall is basically here. I am ready for cooler temperatures and pumpkin flavored everything. Actually I had a pumpkin donut the other day from Tim Horton's.

I hope everyone else is doing well.
Have a great school year!

Good morning friends. Today is a bit of a special and exciting day for me. My son who is a freshman in high school will be playing in his first high school athletics (soccer) game today. I have been watching him play since he was 4 years old and today he becomes a high school athlete.

Oh, and one more day closer to Christmas!

Tuesday is nearly over!

Hope everyone enjoyed their day. It was a "get back at it" day for me. I went out for a run this morning, did some chores, then went to the gym. Kim and I had to do a bit of running around after dinner, too. Now, we're home and enjoying the cool August breeze. Temperatures say that they're around 80F with humidex, but the breeze feels much cooler (at least it does inside the apartment!).

I would be remissed if I failed to mention the storms we had today. Wow! This morning, we had quite the lightning and thunder from 9-10am. Then, another storm hit at 1-2pm. Finally, another boomer hit at 4-5pm. The rain came down super hard and the winds took down some trees within the city! There was also a tornado watch for much of the day, something that never really happens in Ottawa. Thankfully, there wasn't a tornado, but it was a crazy day for weather!

I popped into Costco today to purchase a few things. Disappointingly, there was no signs of Christmas. In previous years, I have found Christmas items at Costco as early as mid-August. Last year, specifically, I have photos of Christmas decorations from August 21st! This year, not a thing. Obviously, I would love to see some early signs of Christmas budding, but I'm OK with nothing just yet. Still, I will keep my eyes open. Oh, the Season is so quickly approaching!

Have a great Tuesday night everyone!
I'm glad you stayed safe in the storms!!
Have a great day!!

Happy Pines Day! Today we're expecting a high in the low 80s with a mix of clouds & sun. Not as hot today as it was yesterday as it was a scorcher...a rare one this summer. Now temps are going back down to feel more like September the rest of the week. My front bumper part fell out (don't know the technical name for the piece) and my mechanic friend found it online for $13. If I went to the dealer they'd probably charge me $80-100 for the same piece. No wonder I don't like going to dealers. Hope you all have a great day!
Nice to have a friend save ya some $$$
Have a great day Edge!
