Had a great visit with my parents and an older cousin whom I didn't get a chance to visit while I was in Toronto a few weeks ago. Took my mom and my cousin, Reg out for lunch. He tried to buy, but I beat him to the cashier. My dad told me he'd fight me on it and to just let him pay, but I didn't. I said, "You're in my city, it's my treat!" He still tried to slip $50.00 into my pocket, but I wouldn't take it.
It did us both good to see each other. It's been about 2.5 years. We chat on the phone often and I always remember to send him a birthday card in October and a Christmas card, but to be able to hug each other was great. He was always like a second dad. It did me good to see him because he was thought to have had Alzheimer's a while back and had to endure many tests and lost his license only to discover what my husband and I thought all along - he had nobody to converse with on a regular basis so he started to forget things. He seems quite fine for 89. Wish I could drive him back to Toronto on Tuesday, but I'm so swamped at work right now, I can't take any time off until October.
I have a bit of shopping to do today and must wash the kitchen floor. I don't care for domestic shores, they spoil my "play time". HaHa
