Happy Friday, everyone!

It's a cool, partly cloudy one here, and we're expecting a chilly, wet Saturday. But it's just as well, because I'll be spending at least part of it setting up a new computer and migrating the files from the old one (8 years old---ancient in computer terms). Then the "joy" of poking around to find out which software is now obsolete with the current OS and will need to be updated or replaced. I'm NOT a computer geek, but I have marginally more computer chops than Mr., so I get the job. It's nerve-wracking for me, but I'll get it done.
Good luck tomorrow Merry. Hope it goes well!

Thank you!
It should go okay, but I still bite my nails while update and migration processes are under way. There's a lot to keep track of and to do to get everything moved over and functioning. Always afraid of making that one click by mistake that kills everything!

You would have a mess if I were to do that!! LOL!! ;) :p

Rain has started so it doesn't look like I'm ging to get to mow this afternoon!! Ah well!!

Have a wonderful weekend MMC!!!

TGIF .... MY weekend started at noon today. My daughter has her junior prom tonight so I took the afternoon to get the house straightened up for pictures since it's still raining here and very chilly the pictures at the park are out of the question. Looks the rain will stick around through the weekend too. By the time it finally stops raining and the grass dries out enough to cut its gonna be knee high UGH.
Got a pot of ham and bean soup going, just need to make corn bread and dinner will be done :) Hope everyone has a great day!

When we finally get settled into our home, I'm going to have to buy a new one also. I have one, it's in storage with the rest of my stuff. But, It's about 15 years old, or more, and It has windows XP running on it. So, since Microsoft does not support that platform any longer, and no longer updates it, I will be doing the very same thing that you are doing in the near future as well.
Fun times...

Sounds like an exciting time over at your house tonight, hope they have a great time, stay safe and keep mom in the loop (somewhat!)

Minta, I cooked a ham a few weeks ago, and I froze all the left over ham and the bone, just for that very same thing; to make a pot of ham and bean soup. However, I am no cook, I'm learning how to cook though and I am really interested in obtaining a good recipe on how to make a pot of that ham and bean soup. Would you be up to sharing the recipe with me?

Hope your daughter has a great time at the prom!! Our high school has it tomorrow night and the weather does not look too promising.

Good morning MMC! Looks like a rainy weekend in store for us! Good thing we got the garden in last night! Whew! I'm hoping it holds off until at least 1:30 this afternoon so I can get the lawn mowed, or we will have to bale it!

As I mentioned we got the garden in last night. Planted 28 marigolds, 23 tomato plants, 10 pepper plants & a geranium - in moms pot! ;) Ran to the hardware for more potting soil, a new liner for one of my pots - went home & got that pot planted. I was whopped! ;) We have 1 more row of tomatoes/peppers to plant, but I grew them from seed & they aren't quite ready yet!

I think we (me & lake neighbor girls) might head back to Amishville tomorrow morning for more flowers. I didn't buy enough!

This morning was the Hillbilly Parade in town. I forgot about it until I saw all the people. It's the senior's last day of school today so they meet at the legion & drive anything & everything in a parade to school - lawn mowers, mopeds, boats (puled behind a truck of course ;)) tractors, 4 wheelers... too funny!

Everyone, have a FABULOUS FRIDAY!!!

I used to garden all of the time, had some really nice one's to. I got out of it, not really by too much of a choice (alcoholic ex wife, divorce, moving several times, etc...). I am hoping so much in my heart that my life has now finally settled down, I am re-married to a wonderful, beautiful, Christian woman and we just bought a home together. There, is where I hope, to once again get back into gardening. I also found that it was soothing to the soul, peaceful, good hard work, but yet fun and rewarding. And if you do things right and the Lord bless your hard work, then that soil that you toiled over will produce some good a yummy things.

The parade sounds like a really fun time!

Good luck when you get to your upgrading and updating!

Well, the good thing is that when the migration is finished and the new one is up and running satisfactorily, I won't have to deal with it again for a few years! (Although there will be OS updates to do periodically ...) It'll feel good having an up-to-date computer with more zip to it. Looking forward to enjoying that part of it when the nerve-wracking part is over!

Absolutely
Ham and Bean soup
Soak a bag of Northern Beans in a pot of water for at least 6 hrs - I soaked mine overnight.
Chop up an onion and 2 cloves of garlic -saute in butter until tender.
Rinse off beans and place in crock pot, place frozen ham bone and sauteed onions and garlic on top of beans. Add one carton of low sodium Chicken broth and 2 cups of water, add black pepper to taste. Cook on low for 6 hrs. Take out ham bone, pull ham bits off of ham and add back into the crock pot.

Ummmm, I started salivating while reading that!

Thank you so much. I'm going to stop at the store tomorrow and pick up some beans and ingredients tomorrow. Now, one I'm and important question for you, is Northern Beans the only type of bean that can be used or can you also use one of those (like 13 bean soup bag)? I saw those at the grocery store, and I was wondering to myself, what kind of soup could I make with those.

I mentioned them to a friend of mine and he told me that when his wife made a pot of soup with that 13 bag bean mixture, she ended up kicking him out of the bedroom for a couple of days.....

I usually use northern beans or split pea. If I use the split pea then I skip the soaking part.
