Hope you all had a fantastic Halloween! It's over now for another year but we all know how quickly it comes around. Look forward to the next year already!

I don't know about some of you in the areas where you live, it's either feast or famine when it comes to trick-or-treaters in my area.

Just this past Halloween of 2014, it was famine. We didn't even come close to running out of candy. Its been trending this way for years now and I feel I know why.

Malls, churches and other areas are hosting a more "safer" trick-or-treat for kids. Little by little, door to door trick-or-treating is dying out. I told my wife that I wouldn't be surprised that one day door to door trick-or-treating will all but disappear.

One day kids will either read about or hear about door to door trick-or-treating and that to me is sad. I fondly remember going trick-or-treating in the neighborhood where I grew up. Sometimes if I were lucky, we would come home, empty our sack, and head out for more candy! Again, I just think that it's sad that this part of our culture is dying out.

I agree SW1Dennis! I was all excited about going trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, but we left a bowl chock full of the good stuff on the porch, fully intending on going out into our neighborhood, but we didn't see a single trick-or-treater, so we went to a nearby neighborhood (actually the town where I work) which always have a lively Halloween. When we got back our bowl was empty of course, but I think its safe to say a few naughty children emptied it. when I was a child Halloween was crazy, so much fun. Thats why we went to the lively neighborhood, part of the fun is seeing all the other kids!
