I would tell them to pick out their favorite ornament and stare into the ornament. Their imaginations would do the rest as I described the story. That's why my book comes with an actual Magic Christmas Ornament.
Did the story change at all over the years? Did you have to adapt to the changing ages of the children?
The story stayed pretty much the same over the years. I would emphasize that the Magic Ornament was actually one that I found when I was a little boy in the knot hole of a mysterious tree.

We have a 1 year old granddaughter and another on the way. I can't wait to read the story with Victoria to them when they are old enough.

So when did the book come out and how has it been received?
The book came out last Christmas and it has been very popular. It's not everyday that you find a book and ornament sold together. It was the #1 book for free kindle on amazon in 2 catagories. Children's Christmas book and Folk tales and stories. It beat our a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens over the 3 days it was offered.
We should have thought to include Victoria today in talking about this. It would be interesting to get her perspective as both a child and as an adult
I think having the ornament is a really nice touch
It makes it more than a story
It also occurs to me that this book and tradition is very timely right now, given all that is going on in the world
