Well, I'm off to watch EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION.
30 more pages and I'll be current with the thread.
Perhaps, tomorrow will be the day.....I'll only be online in the am...so I may not have enough time....but I will surely try.
Have a great evening everyone!!!

Good evening! Wanted to stop in and say hello. Hope everyone had a nice weekend. =)

Stupendous (late) Sunday morning, wonderful post binger. In years past some of us have stayed up till midnight counting down to the start of the season, this year the count would be on a wednesday night, a school and work night, any takers?

I'm game! I'm up late most nights so not a problem for me! I'll probably sip some hot cocoa or hot spiced cider--yum! :-P

Well...I'm up past midnight tonight, so you just never know!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!!

Morning everybody!!

I’ve been thinking long and hard about what I would post for Season Day – 3. Crown has already brought back those warm childhood fuzzies from when we were kids. Binger reminded us that no matter how dark things may be, you always have your friends to turn to.

I’ve taken the easy way out and have chosen to share with you a few quotes from a book we read recently for The Book Cottage entitled “The Autobiography of Santa Claus” as told to Jeff Gunn. They stayed with me long after I finished the book and I hope you get something from them as well

“Always keep December Twenty-fifth special. It works wonders on human hearts and I think more good is accomplished on that day than is done all the rest of the year”

“It’s not the value of the gift, but the philosophy of the giving and receiving. It’s a hard world, all in all, and to receive a present means someone else cares for you, that you’re not alone”

“The most important thing is that people are being happy together. For at least one day of the year, quarrels are forgotten and strangers are greeted as friends”

We not only have the day, but the season and, indeed, for some, a whole year. We not only have our physical friends but our virtual ones as well. We are more blessed than many.

Merry Christmas to all!!!

Have a great day everyone. I'll try to be here late on the 12th with you all. (Is it eastern time?????)
I hope you'll post a reminder.

Wonderful post, Maureen, and an excelllent choice of quotes.

Good Morning, Friends!

Cold here, with our temp at 41.
It's sunny, but with a slight breeze. No rain in the forecast.

Let's in check on our dwindling count:

Days to the Season: 3 (My, oh my! Getting so very, very close!)
Days to Christmas Day: 45
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 17 (Under a week and a half, now!)

I want to try to get out and photograph the new outdoor Christmas Tree at the mall this evening. I have a daytime view and want to post both versions together in the Christmas Blossoms thread.

Have a Marvelous Monday, everybody - the begining of the week that brings us into the Season at last!

.....So Carl switches that third hump over to eggnog at Christmastime. Nobody could find fault with his judgement there. But the liquid in the hump is only for Carl, isn't it? I thought Camels stored liquid for their own drinking in those humps. Does he have another supply for guests? I do love eggnog!.....
Not to worry, Sparkle. Carl is a special camel with a sanitary third hump, and his eggnog is fully fit for human consumption! Just ask one of our long-time members who have had some.

Good morning!!!

Christmasgranny, you have been one busy lady!! Congratulations on catching up!! I should go back & read some of the old posts too! Kinda fun!!! :)

Guess what we got last night???? SNOW!! It wasn't much, but enough that there was snow on the vehicles & rooftops this morning!! I couldn't believe it when I let the dog out last night & it was snowing! I hollered at my hubby to look outside & of course he said "UGH!" Lol!! But I was lovin it!!! :D

Thanks for the really nice post Maureen! I am just ready to start the last disk of The Autobiograph of Santa Claus cd set! It's been a great story!!!

Have a great chilly Monday!!!!

I'll glady switch with Auntie!!! Crown, what day will I post now? The 12th?

Great posts from Crown, Binger and Maureen...My heart is always warmed by the pecial posts to the countdown each year...And I believe Auntie's will be tomorrow and mine on Wednesday...right?

Have a great day guys!!! By the way...Very busy weekend...No computer time at all!!! I've got alot to catch up on!!!

.....Frankly, Carl looks a lot more sophisticated than I am. Are you sure he likes to have visitors just drop by? I am pretty intimidated by Carl.....
Oh, fear not! Carl is very friendly and as you know, he is now the activities director at the Shispering Pines where he likes to give camel rides to the kids. (And with 3 humps, he can safely take 2 at a time!)
During the non-holiday season, he also gives one free cup of coffee from his third hump to all guests.

Carl has visited a number of our members over the years, but if you decide to host him sometime beware! He's very sensitive and a bit narcissistic. Above all, don't ever use words like "imaginary" around him, or he will become quite upset and fade like Samantha's shy aunt on Bewitched!

Correct, my friend.
I'm looking forward to both posts!

Marvelous Monday Morning! We are getting so very close to the season, and Thanksgiving is almost here, man am I excited. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Under 50 posts to go to 4,000!

Isn't that two weeks and a half to your Thanksgiving??
I just like it because of the Thursday afternoon football games though I can only catch the last 1/2 of the second game due to work and all.
Actually, last year I was under the weather and was able to work from home. We'll see how that plays out this year.

Other then that, another week begins.....getting closer to that 6 week mark.

Cheers!!

ML

Crown_84 -- Thank you so much for telling me and all the other newish people --- some of the fascinating facts about Carl.

You mentioned that Carl serves eggnog (homemade by Carl!) I heard on the news yesterday that 500,000 Americans drink unpasteurized milk - directly from the cow. Believing that pasteurization destroys some of the important health properties of milk directly from the animal. So - nothing to worry about with eggnog from Carl.

I picked up a carton of eggnog, today in the grocery store. I do not want to ever again see the number of calories in 1/2 cup of eggnog. I didn't buy that carton. I am going to wait for Carl. Or - at least until there are a lot of people around who will want some of that eggnog - so I don't drink it all immediately by myself!

Great post Maureen! I read that book a couple of years ago and it is a great book! It's definitely one to read more than once!

And yes, we are truly blessed with this wonderful online community!
