Jeff - I like that! "So many projects to move forward." I have a lot better feeling about "moving projects forward" - than getting mad at myself because they aren't all finished!

Also - it is GOOD that you are teaching your kids history!!!!!

:snowball: Quick in and out. Is this "Hump Day"? As Shirley Temple would say "Oh My Goooooooodness!"

I don't even have time to catch up on what I missed. I have to work Saturday and who knows what the next two days will bring, I'm busssssssssy.

Think about y'all quite a bit thought while I'm working, before I drift off to sleep, etc. There is always some kind of reminder I encounter that makes me think of one of you or something Christmas related.

Today, it was when I heard someone singing the Falalalala part of Deck the Halls then I realized I had been humming it.

Just stopped by to say, "Think Christmas!" :tree:

Temps here today -31, tomorrow when I venture off to the gym before work it's supposed to be -33 and that's without a windchill. Brrrrrrrrrr.

343 days till Christmas...we might go sleighing today...depends on if it´s cold enough for it to still stick or if it´s to warm and it will melt...that would be terrible....but it might happen....we had more snow yesterday...and there might be more snow come Friday or Saturday....I truly love this winter........can´t remember it being that cold ever since I am alive....not for so long

I remember watching Centennial on TV now that you've reminded me! It was great!

My wife has introduced all sorts of new TV shows to our Tivo...Makes getting any work done a bit harder...It's weird cause we were marooned with almost nothing of interest and now we are flooded with stuff...But in a few short months we'll be back to repeats and such...

Gotta get moving though...I'm becoming a sloth...

Good Morning, Friends.

It's a bit hard to say that today through chattering teeth.
It's cold again here with our temp right at the freezing mark.
And it's supposed to get worse. Friday night the weather service now predicts 9 degrees for the low.
(I know you folks up north are smiling, but we don't often hit single digits here in NC!)

OK, the daily figures, and what they mean:
Days to the Season: 302
Days to Christmas Day:344
And of course, what they mean is that we are only TWO DAYS away from Milestone #1, the 300-Day Season window!
Now that's worth lifting a cup of tea (or in Binger's case a gallon jug of coffee) in toast!

Have a Thrilling Thursday, Fellow Christmas Season Lovers!

Two Days Until The First Milestone!!! Yay!!! Thank you Crown 84!!! Two days!

And the Count To the Season: 302!!!

I like it.

AuntieMistletoeDear - Thank you for your wonderful reminder to "Think Christmas"! That made me smile with happiness when I read it!

We've hit the dog days of January here in Salt Lake. While the midwest and the East coast get headlines for their bitter air and snow we've thawed a bit. Yesterday was about 50 degrees and our air is stagnant. In comes the annual winter inversions where cold air get trapped in the valley and the ski resorts get all the blue skies and warm temps.

That causes some people here to get depressed.

Not me though. I've got things to keep me warm no matter the weather.

Jeff - Thank you for the very wise words about approaching the "dog days of January". Yes, it is cold. And, YES, we have things to keep us warm!

My personal Christmas coundown is at 289 Days till Nov. 1 when I put up all of my Christmas decorations YEA !! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !!!

Garfield - I would like to join you in counting dpwn tp November 1st! November 1st in definitely the beginning of the Christmas Season for me. I would LOVE to put up my Christmas tree and decorate it in the dungeon/office/guest room/Christmas room. If I put it on a blanket before I decorated it, I wonder if I could slide it down the hall to the living room window when my husband thought it was an acceptable time to put up the tree.

Well - the only way to find out --- is to do it!!!! Then I can estimate the damage (to ornaments.)

Oc course - there would be a traffic jam -- of packing up Halloween ornaments and getting them into the attic. And bringing down the Christmas boxes. But... with a lot of advance preparation (finally getting the dungeon room cleared out!) -- it COULD be done!

It is a splendid goal for 2009!

Polo I was under the impression that the Rothko chapel was at Rice.. let me do some research- and maybe the nat gallery of Art has the Seagram piece farmed out- maybe it is there- I saw the Rptko exhibit at the nat galelry circa 1998/99 and was amazed- later saw the pieces atthe Phillips Gallery in DC ( There is an entire Rothko room there.. brillant...) His later pieces that are the darkest ( he commited suicide in the early 70s) I find the most interesting...I farmed a print of his #10...

YABBA.. art..dogs playing poker.. yabba

hi everyone,

just been watching the news and saw that american airlines plane land in the hudson river - truly shocking! so amazing that everyone survived. to think i was cruising along that river myself just over a month ago...

Can I just say "Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr".

We're currently at a balmy -8* F, add in windchill and I think we're about -20. Schools were closed today, and most are closing Friday too. Doesn't let me off of work though!!!!

Stay warm everyone else in this cold snap!
