Over 4 million Americans have glaucoma but only half of those know they have it. At least your mother had it diagnosed before it got serious.

Hey Everyone!
I've been a lil busy lately,haven't been on much.hope ya's are well.

Hey everyone! I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Oklahoma to visit family. I worked Saturday and then hopped in the car to drive there - we didn't get in until 1:30am (which was actually 2:30 thanks to Daylight Savings!). We spent all day Sunday there and then drove home first thing this morning. It was a crazy weekend, but I am SO glad that I went. I don't get to see my family much, so when the opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance.

It reminded me just how important my family is to me and how much I miss being able to spend Christmas with all of my extended family. I have so many amazing memories from when I was a kid. Unfortunately my job doesn't allow me much freedom when it comes to time at Christmas. I want to be intentional in finding a way to get back there for Christmas soon!

My mom has been diagnosed with open-angle glaucoma.

She will be going for laser surgery in a month. (During laser surgery, a tiny but powerful beam of light is used to make several small scars in the eye’s trabecular meshwork (the eye’s drainage system). The scars help increase the flow of fluid out of the eye.)

I am sorry to hear that but at least they found it in it's early stages.

Well I am headed to bed. I have to get up about 5am tomorrow so I should have been in bed already. GOODNIGHT EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

G'night friends! Wanted to say hi....and actually bye....had a board meeting tonight so didn't get to stop by....see ya later!

Mom finally has surgery this morning. It seems like I have been getting ready for it forever but it has only been 3 weeks. We have to be at the hospital at 6:30 am and her surgery is at 7:30 am. If everything goes okay we should be home before lunch time. I want to thank everyone for the well wishes over the last couple of weeks. They were greatly appreciated. Well I better go get everything rounded up that we need to take with us. I will check in with you all this afternoon. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD MORNING!

Made, hope the surgery goes as smoothly as possible and hope your mom has a quick recovery!!

Today, I start packing to move... eeek! I'm getting excited!

Good Morning, Everyone!
Rise, shine and smell the tea.....or the spilled coffee.
Hear Binger trying to lap it up before starting on their next opera chapter.
(Which will be a masterpiece, regardless of their beverage preferences, of course)

Days to the Season: 242
Days to Christmas Day:284
Would you believe.....
Our next Milestone is just TEN days off?
(That's just one more than SINGLE DIGITS, folks)
The 1/4 mark to Christmas Day is March 26.
Incredible!

We stand at 51 here this morning under cloudy but calm skies.
Looks like it might rain but the weather service says no (so it can't....right?)

Have a Terrific Tuesday, Friends.
Don't forget - the 'Pines tomorrow!

She has also been put on xalatan eye drops which have to be taken once a day at bedtime to also help relieve the pressure in her eyes.

Doctor says it was caught in its very early stages . She will now have regular appointments and the eye drops for the rest of her life.

I am so grateful she is being well looked after and that it was caught so early.

When you mentioned the pressure in her eyes I immediately thought glaucoma but then thought I better not until the doc confirms the diagnosis. My mother has glaucoma and since it's hereditary I have been told to check for myself and I have not been in to do that yet. She got diagnosed at an early age and it she has kept it under control very well. She had surgery and all. I am glad your mom caught it early.

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

It's supposed to be another great day, sunny & 68°. They are even saying Saturday will be sunny and 76°. WOW!

I've been having a tough time getting a replacement birth certificate. I was born on a military base in Germany, and the State Dept. doesn't make it easy to get such things.

Made, I hope your mom does well!

I hope you all have a great day! cheesy

Looking forward to hearing the good news on a successful surgery!

Good Morning everyone!

I am adjusting to daylight savings time very well. I fell asleep very early last night and got 10 hours of sleep! I needed it, I was so busy this weekend. I am up in time for my grandchildren to come over for the day.

Good afternoon to you all!

My goodness, I am so behind around here, but don't really have the time to backtrack...my apologies for that...I hope everyone is doing well. May everyone be enjoying nice Spring weather, too!

I've been going since 7:30 am and I've still got a whole list of things to do yet before I leave for my ballet class in a few hours. So, I guess I'll make this a quick post and just wish you all a wonderful Tuesday! cheesy

Wow! Lots of happenings that I missed out on the past couple days. All the best to your mom for her surgery, Made! I'm sure it will be a success. Nice to know that the glaucoma was diagnosed so early on your mom, too, Star!

Also, sorry to hear about the 33rd year of your father's passing, Snow-In-Texas. Caesar is one of my favourite plays and I would not like to have such an upsetting reminder every time I read it. As you said, it's quite ironic how stuff like that happens.

Good Morning MMC !

I actually slept in this morning, something that is very rare for me. Must be the time change. I will not be able to do that tomorrow as I have a bus charter to do all morning and have to be out at the bus yard by 6am.

Supposed to be another lovely sunny day here, going up to +14c (about 57f), same as yesterday. Flowers are coming up all over town. Mine are still hiding, but hoping to see them coming up soon.

Well, back to making fondant ribbons for my cakes....have a great day everyone! cheesy
