Christmas Countdown - 2011

What a wonderful Christmas this year has brought us! I agree with you jennifer91 it’s a great tradition to extend Christmas celebrating until the New Year. It makes it much more festive and who doesn’t need that? I am so enjoying playing games with my boys and eating leftovers (not to mention ravishing the Christmas chocolates!). And when I looked on the countdown today and the new one has already started it really lit up my day.

Crown, thank you for all the work that you do in posting the countdown to Christmas!! It especially helps in the summer when it seems like it is so far away. I can just look at the countdown and see it’s less than a year to go! :yahoo: Trust me, that really does a lot of good when the temps outside are 98+ and I have two boys asking me “How much longer is it until Christmas?” :grin:

Jeff, thank you so much for establishing this site and maintaining it for all of these years. It truly is a blessing to be able to come here any time of year and talk to some of the nicest people I have ever met. Everyone here is always so pleasant and cordial and just really nice (sorry I don’t have a better word for it lol). I don’t spend a lot of time posting but I do spend a lot of time reading what everyone else has posted and there are many days it has cheered me up immeasurably. So thanks Jeff for creating a place where people can come together in the Christmas spirit and thanks to everyone who comes here for keeping that spirit alive all year!!

I'm glad to hear so many had a great Christmas. My family and I also enjoyed a very good one. I drove out to moms tonight to watch the Carolina football bowl game (ugly one to watch if you are a Tarheels fan) and enjoyed a great dinner of leftovers. Noticed that some decorations were down then realized she is already removing them. We will keep ours up through Epiphany at least to enjoy the season. Have a great week everybody.

Mouse is doing well :dance:
She received three shots and goes back on Wednesday and Friday for more. The vet doesn't want to put her off her food, so antibiotic injections it is. She was such a good girl - very scared, but didn't make a peep. She is now snoozing in front of the heat register.

I didn't do very much in this thread in 2011. It was a rough year. I will not be sad to see 2011 end. I will do better in 2012. I pray that this year will be the best year ever for everyone.

I attempted to head out to the mall for a couple of hours to look for some steals, deals, and of course Christmas stuff. I found this awesome little cookbook with over 100+ Christmas themed recipes for $2.97!! I get so excited over little things like that! On the drive home, TONS of people still had their houses lit up outside. It seems like everyone is still in the Christmas mentality, which of course I love cheesy! I have to say I am not as depressed as I usually am, although last night I was very bummed. I had no plans to go out today, but tomorrow I'm going to relax, watch Christmas movies/shows, and take it easy.

My mom said when she was a child, Christmas was practically a week long celebration from Christmas Eve to New Years. I think I'm going to start that tradition back up and keep things going! It seems like everyone nowadays is so concerned with taking their decorations down and moving on the second that Christmas is over. That's no fun!

I hope you all have a great evening! I am going to go make myself some food, I am starving and the mall was packed!

Today was amazing for me as well! Christmas was still going strong everywhere I went. I was happy to hear all the music was still playing!

I think I'm just going to set my apartment on fire instead of cleaning it.

Hmmm... Let us know how that goes for you. Ha ha!

The cable is still playing Christmas music on the Sounds of the Season music channel ... I really enjoyed having it on for a few minutes! In fact, I left it on with the sound turned down low while we went downstairs to screen "Pocketful of Miracles." It was so nice to see it playing on the TV when we came back up. I'll miss it when they stop playing it!

Back to work tomorrow, but trying not to think about that yet. The workload this week will probably be brutal as last week. Hoping it will slow down at least some after that.

I will be trying my best to enjoy Christmas week in spite of all that!

I went back today, Lindsay and her family were having thier family Christmas today so I got to have fun helping her get everything together. The house smelled like roasting turkey.
