Here's the cake my daughter, Elizabeth, made for me. She's 10!
My mother-in-law is a caterer and bakes cakes all the time, and she talked Elizabeth through it, but E did it by herself. I'm so proud of her!
She did an amazing job!!!

Good morning all..... took the kids out last night and picked up some more clothes for back to school. Trying to break up the cost by picking up a few things each pay. They are just about good on clothes for now until the winter stuff comes out in Sept and then we will start buying more clothes then.
Debating whether we are taking the kids to the movies today or tomorrow to see transformers.

Well, about to start a day of flying. Can't wait to get home so I can have good Internet access and no more six dollar coffee! Should see everyone tonight or first thing in the morning for coffee!

Good Morning, Folks.
We have returned from the coast.
It was a tale of 2 halves.
The first half was as hot and humid as I've ever seen it over there. (Had to do inside work to avoid melting like the Wicked Witch of the West!)
The 2nd half was delightful. About 10 degrees cooler with much lower humidity.
(Got my outside work done then!)
OK. The count.
(And I always look forward to seeing how far it has moved while I was away.)
Days to the Season: 120
Days to Christmas Day: 162
Well, the 2/3 Season marker has passed and you won't believe what's less than 3 weeks off -- the 100-day Season Milestone after which we will be down to DOUBLE DIGITS to Christmas Season 2011.
Unbelievable!!
A BIG thanks to Meceka for seeing the potential count gap and stepping in to prevent it from happening.
(Bad luck to let the count lapse, you know. That might upset Santa!)
Calm and sunny here this morning in the capital city where my back door thermometer stands at 79 degrees.
We are supposed to remain below 90 today - a welcome change.
You have a Sensational Saturday, Friends!
And may the Spirit of the Season always be your companion.

Sitting here drinking straight-out-of-the-refrigerator Vanilla Red Bush tea. Yummy and so refreshing! One of my favorite jobs was available today which was great because I've had a headache most of the day - it was nice to be able to cruise a bit at work. A quiet evening is still in store for me, though.

I went to the fair tonight for dinner and was quite disappointed. The fair doesn't end until tomorrow but just about everyone had packed up and left. The company that was supposed to provide all of the rides closed a month before the fair started, so they had to bring in 2 separate companies just to get some rides there. Well I guess both of those companies couldn't get along and the one with all of the bigger rides packed up and left. That led to most of the food providers leaving because no one was sticking around when they realized there was no rides. The have a local company lined up for next year but they may have to do some damage control to get people to come back. On the other hand the Hallmark ornament premiere was wonderful. I managed not to buy any but it was great to hear the Christmas music playing and to see the store all decorated for Christmas.
