Christmas Countdown - 2011

We went shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop this evening for some small things. (It's a year-round bargain-basement-type store in New England.) They had a whole section of Christmas-in-the-tropics-themed stuff---flamingoes in Santa hats, Santa sitting under a palm tree, snowmen in Hawaiian shirts, etc. I snagged some of my favorite teas on sale, and a watering can for my Christmas cactus, which is getting way too big to water with a Dixie cup. I started three cuttings in the spring, but only two of them seem to be growing. The mama cactus is growing out in all directions---it's going to be huge! I don't know where I'll put it!

Hoping to grab some relaxation this weekend---been kinda stressed out lately, physically and mentally. Will be doing some podcast work for #10. Maybe I can find an hour to put on some Christmas music and sign some cards. There's a tax holiday in Massachusetts tomorrow and Sunday (no sales tax), but I've got to save my money for a legal struggle I might have to engage in. The executor of my dad's estate is apparently not attending to her legal duties, and I will probably have to petition to have her removed so the estate can be settled properly.

been working in the house the last few hours....sorting out old and broken toys from kandice room, doin the dishes, doing the bed, doing some laundry.....still not really done.....I am done for now tho....lol....to be continued tomorrow

I actually have the weekend off, it means I have to work 6 days in a row next week but it will be worth it.

The Perseid meteor shower peaks tomorrow morning just before dawn. There is also a chance that the International Space Station can be seen over the US as it is making a series of flybys over the country. Happy sky watching!!

A nice Christmas surprise at Costco today!

It was nice to come around the corner from the Halloween stuff and find this! They had a nice rack of cards too.

I love Costco but we don't have one that close. Might be worth the trip to go see all the stuff!

Good evening, everyone. I am home from school, and I feel like I hardly made any headway today. Tomorrow will be spent traveling to my daughter's place to take up a whole pickup loaded with stuff, plus a trailer full! Tomorrow night we will attend a ceremony for Eagle Scouts, so I won't get to my classroom tomorrow. That only leaves Sunday and Monday. No rest for me until next weekend! Y'all have a great, cool, pain-free evening!!

I hope you get it all done soon and able to get some rest!

I noticed we have a Christmas Tree Shop here too. We passed by it but didn't stop in. I will make a point to drop by next time. I just looked at the sales flyer online. They got some cute stuff!

I should be doing all that house work stuff too, but I just have no get and and go today! going to meet mom for tea in an hour so maybe when I get back I will feel more like it!

My eldest son and his girl (the one who is carrying my next granddaughter due in October) are coming over tomorrow. I get to make my son's birthday dinner! His birthday was on the 4th, but this was the first chance we could get together for dinner. It will just be the four of us - but I'm really looking forward to it!

Impressive to see a seventeen year old did that! also all the different techniques she used!

Did I tell you I interviewed him for our cake decorating magazine?? it was quite nerve-wrecking but he was awfully kind!

None of the kids seem too excited about having to wear uniforms this year, but it was necessary. A few parents let their kids come to school in clothes that were obviously not in the dress code. I guess all it takes is a few bad apples. The kids will get used to it.

That's always the case! for those children (whose parents were not dressing them appropriately) it will probably be very beneficial though! I believe that in the Netherlands there's no schools with uniforms!

We are heading to Cincinnati in a few hours, spending the night. Going to a Reds/Padres game. Really looking forward to it! We haven't spent the night in Cincy for several years! We have been life long Reds fans, but with our neighbor pitching for the Padres we have been watching almost more Padres baseball this year than the Reds. Now the dilema...do we wear Reds or Padres shirts tonight??

I'm hoping to be able to get some time to relax and be to myself this weekend. I'm hoping on Sunday to be able to go get a massage with the rest of a gift card that I have. I may try to also get a pedicure - just because, well, I don't know. Sometimes I just think I deserve to do something nice for me!
