On a serious note, I am just so sad. Knut the polar bear just died today....He was only 4. I know polar bears are not cudly or sweet, but IMHO they have so much stacked against them and I am ALWAYS for the underdog. This big guy was rejected by his mother if I recall right and they stopped her from killing him. The zoo saved his life. It was not a very long one. Just really sad.............

RIP Knut........xo

That is sad:( you know what else is very sad,but kind of has a happy ending? I was watching the news and they showed 2 dogs in the aftermath of the quake and tsunami in japan and one was shivering and one was motionless and the one that was shivering would not leave the side of the unconsious one. He even kept nudging him trying to get him to move and he stayed by his side. The good news is they were both recued and are in animal hospitals and are going to recover... now that we are all crying I will sign off and wish everyone a good night.:rudolph:

I'm watching Butler play Pitt and searching for any news on christmas in july shows on the shopping channels. Not the best way to spend a saturday night but not that bad either.

Hello everyone,
I'm sitting here at my desk in sunny hastings in the south of England. Its very sunny here, but its a bit on the chilly side.
I havent post on here before, but i've always wanted to, so as i was sitting here, i though i'd post :)
I work in a shop called BHS, but it isn't What i want to do, so the real reason i'm sitting here is becasue i'm writing. Not on this laptop, but with my hand, i find its more 'creative' wirting by hand.
I'll try and post every so often to tell you all how its going, i haven't told mayn people that i want to write, or what im writing, but i thought i'd tell my christmas friends all about it, i thought you;d like to know.

Anyway, i'll go now, have a sunny, warm, christmassy day everyone :)

Welcome to the countdown!

Congrats Seawaters on 10,000 !!

I guess since 30,000 is in need of serious help, I must be on the way to certifiable cheesy

RIP Knut........xo

I am sorry about Knut.

Good afternoon everyone.. I tryed to get up and moving today but I got tired after I took a shower and the bed looked so good after that so I just plopped down in it again..(sigh) another day spent trying to get well. The weather is sure warming up too..I looked at my local weather in Ga and it is 88F today! I think it is a little too early for upper 80's and 90's. I am already looking forward to Fall and brainstorming possible 3 day getways to go leaf peeping in October.I think I have plenty of time to consider all this. I hope everyone is having a great Saturday. Enjoy the basketball games everyone!

Take the time to get well! It will be worth it in the end.

I'm so excited it's going to be in the 80's and 90's down there! I NEED the warmer weather!!! I hope it stays that way through the next week. Haven't yet decided if I'm going to visit my old stomping grounds in Valdosta or just stay in Florida, either way it will be nice to wear shorts! :)

Basketball games have apparently been crazy today, can't believe I missed them because of work!

What a crazy ending to that game! I saw the highlights and just...wow. They screwed up my bracket, but being a Penn State fan, I was kinda rooting for them to lose anyway (j/k Pitt fans! <3). What a March Madness this is turning into!

Hello Christmas friends!

Not a bad day at work...I kept sane by checking my phone every half hour for the scores of NCAA games. Just not the same as watching (or being at) them! Hope everyone had a great day and has a wonderful Sunday! :)

i will be there and i will bring my new maple-bacon coffee. It is surprisingly good. I will order it again! My husband liked it, too. He was afraid it would be a "girlie" blend.

did someone say coffee??

Yabba!

Goodnight Everyone!!!!!!!!

Kentucky won great!

Good morning everyone :)
its another nice day here, abit on the cold side agaib though...
Its going to be an interesting day today, its the Hastings half maraton today (where i'm living).
Its become very popular over the years, and is one of the half maratons where the runners prepare for the London Maraton. I think its about 13 miles!! and alot of the course is up hill!
I haven't run it, but every year i say to myself that i will.
There are alot of charities to my heart, it would be good raising some money for them.
I'm going to do it one of these years, but at lest our house is on the course, so i can watch and surpport the people who did decide to run.

Anyway, i hope everyone has a nice sunny sunday :)

I am very, very sad about Polar Bear Knut s death....he was just too young.......I know from reports that he was harrassed by the three females he was with...i wonder if that has something to do with his death....but then....You don´t just die like that.....really sorry for the young bear.

oh and Louann.....I find polar bears to be cute and cuddly.....of course they are dangerous....but they still look cute and cuddly

Hubby and I are going to the Elks Lodge tonight for a corned beef and cabbage dinner. We will be entertained by Irish dancers.
Sounds like a lot of fun! I hope you had a good time!

Like Track said, they are still cute and cuddly. All animals need respect regardless of their personality. I am sorry to hear Knut died. That is sad news.

What a sweet story of animals loving and caring for one another. I am glad it had a good ending.

Now you have me talking about running. As you can see by my signature I am a runner in training. I have been trying to train for a 5k but keep having set backs, getting sick, etc. I am feeling a lot better now and moving forward with my plans. My brother has ran a lot of 5k's and is currently training for a half marathon. They are great for raising money for charitites!

I wish you luck on your training and if you ever want to chat with me about running, send me a pm! I love to talk about it because it keeps me motivated.

We had a great day yesterday! My day started at 5:30 am and went all the way until 10 pm when I finally got some sleep.

Right as the sun came out I went for a jog around the school and Wayne joined me! He said he wanted to give it a try. I would love to have someone to train with so I hope he continues.

We then ran around most the day getting errands done, went out to eat and then to the lake to celebrate my grandson's 7th birthday! I cannot believe he is already 7!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Well, they have all gone past our house now, its great to see that determination.
Like i said, i would love to run a few half maratons, so it must be great to have a brother who has run a lot of 5ks :)
i dont really know anyone who has run any maratons, a few people at my work like to go running and things, but when iv asked about the half maraton or even the london maraton they dont seem to want to. i'm going to try and convice them to do it with me next year i think, and im sure you will send alot of support, keeping us both focused :)
Oh i'd love to try the new york maraton, but i think thats out of my league!! ;)

Wow xmas365, thanks for digging up that post! Think I understand a little more about everything, although I'm still waiting for the pas de deux explanation! =)

Well...the situation I was going to ask about is a little complicated. Right now, I have two jobs...one as an admin assistant at a big department store, the other as a sales associate at a card shop. I make minimum wage at the card shop, and a decent amount as an admin. Both are part time jobs, and I am lucky to get 40 hours a week between both jobs. So...it's a bit frustrating, especially when I'm trying to pay off loans and save for vacations, a future wedding/honeymoon, etc.

Well, a few days weeks ago, I interviewed for a warehouse position with amazon.com. It would be for an inbound freight position...something I have never done before. It's only about a dollar more an hour than I'm making as an admin, but it's a guaranteed (at least) 40 hours per week.

My struggle is, do I give up both jobs (which I really do enjoy, especially since my college degree was in business admin) for this one full time job? Yes, it would be nice to have a full time job (and it's only 4 days a week as opposed to 6, which is what I end up working between both jobs), but I can't help but feel that taking the amazon job is a step in the wrong direction. I finally have a job in the field I studied for, I enjoy it and am respected in it...it's just the money aspect. And this local amazon warehouse is notorious for overhiring people and then laying them off after a few months. Not to mention that the guy I've been talking with there always balks when I ask questions about ANYTHING, and can't seem to understand that I want to give my jobs 2 weeks notice before I start (he's called me twice, asking me to start the very next day, and I've told him both times that I can't...).

Looking back on what I wrote just now, it seems obvious that my answer should be to not take this job, but I don't know. Does anyone have any advice or insight? I could really use some right now...

A few years ago, I was a baseball coach/teacher is a district and then I was offered an administrative position in the district. Here is my advice....

You can't put a price on happiness. If you you are very happy where you are, then stay. However, if you have not reached your professional goals, then keep trying.

Well, yesterday didn't exactly go as planned. The cookout was cancelled b/c my brother-in-law's (and one of my best friends) Dad had emergency surgery. He's been battling cancer for sometime now. It's getting tough and they don't know how much longer. My brother in law is a little younger than me, but his Dad is almost in his Mid 70's. He was a surprise to say the least. I just can't imagine being in his shoes.

On a lighter note....today is going to be a great day. Outside in the 80 degree weather...I'm DVR'in the race...and will cook on the grill this afternoon. As a matter of fact, I'm taking my last cup of coffee outside right now!
