Today is looking rather grim... I have been awoken by what is either food poisoning or the flu. I wasn't feeling to well yesterday, but I did not have this in mind... Today will be filled with chicken noodle soup, crackers, water.. and christmas movies.

my bf knows me all too well.. I told him I wanted to watch some movies so he brought me rudolph and frosty hahaha

Hope everyone elses day is wonderful!

At 11pm last night, a guy knocked on my front door. He was stuck in the ditch on a nearby road and wanted me to pull him out. Rough looking guy in a tank top, with tattoos all over his neck and arms. Anyway, apparently he was knocking on every door till he got to me. Most of the other homes are widowed women who wouldn't answer (smart!). I figured I better help, if for no other reason than to keep him from scaring any other old ladies. So, I picked him and his girlfriend up in my truck and took them out to the dirt road they were on and pulled them out. Nancy was worried to death, but I felt a need to get them out of Bellville. And I didn't have any trouble out of them. They asked what they owed me, and of course I told them "nothing." And they thanked me and went on their way.

I don't mean to disaparage folks with tattoos, but they have to know that if you have them up one side of your neck, down the other, all over both arms, etc., it's going to cause folks to look at you sideways.
Wayne had a similar situation that scared me to death when he told me about it later. He said a guy approached him at a gas station and told him a long story about he and his wife are staying at a hotel and did not have a home. They needed more money to stay another night. Wayne told him he didn't have any cash, which was true he was using a debit card. The guy then asked if he could just go to the hotel and pay for a nights stay with his debit card. Wayne agreed but the guy said he would ride with him to the hotel. That part freaked me out! Wayne should have agreed to just meet him in the hotel office. He drove the guy there which was just across the street from the gas station and paid for a night at the hotel. It all ended safely!

I have told Wayne many times that I just don't hand out money to strangers but I am more than happy to buy them what they need (if I am able to). At least Wayne knew where the money went. If you give them cash you don't know where it's really going to. I have given them stuff (food/clothing) but not cash.

Anyway, I am glad your situation turned out good and that was nice of you to help. The part I don't get is I thought everyone had cell phones. Surprised they didn't have one to call for help.

Congrats to Made on his recent appointment to the Christmas Crew! cheesy

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

I'm still tickled with myself for gettting so close to finished on my deck this weekend! We went to Lowe's and picked up the last few little things I need for it. Then in Walmart I found some rope lights to go on the handrails. Those rope lights they sell at Christmas are, like, $40 for 20 feet. Well, over in the camping section, they have 40 feet ropes for $19. They are there so folks can string them along the RV canopy, and stuff like that. I picked up a 40' section to see how it looks in the dark.

Anyway, I hope y'all have a great day!

Brad - can I tell this at a support meeting I do with troubled youth (I hate that term)? I think it would be good for them to hear this story. That people do help today, I am trying to bring the meaning of giving without receiving - that it has it's own reward. It is hard, and sometimes it can be very - oh I don't know what the right word is but, I just think it would be good, no names just want to be aware that good people are out there and are willing to help.:-x

I'm glad Wayne didn't have any trouble, either. It's sad how things have deteriorated in just a matter of 30 - 40 years. My dad said he used to hitchhike from Ft. Bragg, NC to south Georgia every other weekend or more just to visit my mom when they were dating...and he never had any trouble getting a ride. Not so these days. You don't what sort of craziness strangers are thinking about.

I'm more willing to help someone if I'm alone; I can probably take care of myself, if I have to. But I'm not willing to put my family in any kind of danger, real or perceived.

As far as them calling someone to help, they didn't appear to be local. I doubt anyone would be coming to help anytime soon.

Of course, Laurie, feel free! :-D

Good late evening,

I was just hanging around with my sister and bro-in-law, they leave in the morning while I will be a work. It was a great visit, and just like the feeling when Christmas is over, I'll get the blues not knowing when I will see them again.
I did have a great dream last night, Kmart had already set up their Christmas displays, but instead of being in the lawn and garden section it was right in the very front of the store, my family and I were playing with all of the interactive decorations...and then I woke up. I wish it was true.

One more thing, I was able to score an antique sleigh for free, it needs some work, like re-upholstering and paint job? But it will be the centerpiece of my Christmas store, it will be where Santa sits at Christmastime for pictures, and just a great way to merchandise the "Hot" items of the month when it is time for that store to come true. I will take pictures of it when I get it home. I am so excited about this!

I will catch up on today's posts tomorrow.

Have a great night!

I hope you are better, Britt!

Turned out really well... minus the dye I got all over myself... hahaahah I've never been good at colouring my own hair, for some reason I get it EVERYWHERE!

Me, too

The part I don't get is I thought everyone had cell phones. Surprised they didn't have one to call for help.

I'm glad things worked out well for Wayne. Just a thought: my cell phone does not work in certain areas - the next town over it is hard for anyone to get a signal. Maybe that guy had the same problem.

How cool! There are a couple in the store during the holidays and I always say I want it - no place to store, though, and the cost is quite high. Looking forward to seeing the pictures!

Morning all :yahoo:

How is everyone today??

Good morning, irishsnow. I am doing well. Hope you are, too!
