i have a bauble next to my name, apparantly it's a top achiever award? i don't know what i've gotten it for but i'm really happy with it.

have a safe sunday everyone, lets hope that hurrican passes quickly and nobody else is hurt.

xmas and Merry - how are you guys holding up? Did the storm head your way yet?

We slept through tornado warnings... phew. Thank goodness we didn't get them. Power is on... basement is wet (it always gets wet)... still raining and windy but they say the worst has passed - PRAISE GOD! Bit of a leak in our bedroom but we are having the roof repaired shortly anyway so no biggie. Thankful this is passing!

Can't sleep, anxiety getting the best of me right now.

Understood ! Praying for you and yours xo

xmas365: praying for you and your family ((((hugs))))

Johnor: congratulations on your bauble :???:

judesmama: I'm glad the worst has passed you by and that there is only minor problems!

Good morning, Christmas family!

It is going to be another busy, but somewhat lazy day here in Mid-Michigan. I have a lot of pears I need to take care of - not sure what I am going to do with them yet. I might make a pear crisp and then get the rest freezer ready. I also need to work on my fudge recipes - all I have are the ingredients listed and I haven't made any in years. I have an excuse to make fudge now :???:

Have a great day and be safe!!!!!

Well, that was interesting! Last night I kept hearing fruit falling out of the trees, so I went outside a few minutes ago to get as much of the windfall pears as I could. I got my ponytail tangled in the branches of the lilac bush next to the pear tree and had to extricate myself without disturbing the bees and wasps of which I am highly allergic to. Success! :???:
If I do this again tomorrow morning, I will wear a hat!

LOL - how the heck di dyoui manage getting your ponytail tangled? SOryr but I had to giggle at the thought - wish I could see a video of that!!

That's what I did for thirty plus years! It's not easy being the voice of calm in a situation like that!
I bet that was hard to remain calm. Now you can type reports and freak out at the same time. We would never know how you really feel.

Thanks again for updating everyone. =)

RadioJonD to the rescue!

It was a surprisingly easy thing to do - and it probably would have been quite funny to see cheesy

We are watching the hurricane coverage now. We have been praying for you all. Stay safe my friends!

I'd be watching coverage, too, if I still had programming. I pray it is not as bad out there as I imagine it to be!

At least you may still listen with the links I posted. The Skywarn Net has folks checking in with weather/damage reports from all along the East Coast. NYPD Special Operations & Traffic is really hoppin'!

Remember, this is unedited real time action without regard to ratings and sensationalism! No commercials either!

It just got downgraded to a tropical storm but still dangerous.

They just said some guy slept on his boat last night! Talking about living dangerously!

Morning all,

So far so good, lots of rain, with lots more to come. It is quite windy, but as of now we are doing well, our house lays lower than most, and just like the tornado the wind seems to be going over us. The power is flickering, but still on.

Be on later if I can.

Man, talk about frustrated. First, I couldn't log into here for a while, then the city I live was moving the alley and find out that the phone company didn't bury the phone line to my house. They only found it out when they ran over it with a mower. Phone company came out this morning to fix it, now I can have coffee with everybody here!

Judesmama, good to here it wasn't as bad! I'm off to read the last two days!

xmas365: I'm glad to see you on here as I was worried about you! How are the boys? Be safe!!!

Hi Coach! Cheers! I'm drinking chocolate coffee - what are you having? I'm glad the phone company fixed things for you!!

judesmama: :???:

Good Morning, Folks.

And it is a good morning, with everything here in Raleigh still intact with minimal damage after Irene.

Emerald Isle is still closed to traffic and the damage assessment there is pending. Residents who stayed to ride out the storm were stating to the news reporters that there was not too much structural damage so we are hopeful about our cottage.
The only serious flooding mentioned was toward the east end of the island. (Our place is in the center part.)

So with a bit of relief, I present the daily count:
Days to the Season: 77
Days to Christmas Day: 119

Is it possible we are only 19 days off from the 100-day mark to Christmas?
Do you realize we are but 4 days away from the start of September?
September -- when Crabtree Valley Mall opens the "A Christmas to Remember" shop.....and.....WE LAUNCH THE CHRISTMAS BLOSSOMS THREAD!!
(There, now! Does the Christmas Season seem sufficiently close?)

It is a beautiful, sunny and CALM day outside here in the capital city where we stand at 76 degrees bound for the 90's.
From Monday on through the week though, it is supposed to be in the 80's with lower humidity.
Nice!

You have a Super Sunday, Everyone!
Try to stay safe in the NE and enjoy the balance of your weekend.

Glad to hear you are safe.

I know it was a dangerous situation with the bees and wasps, but I do have a funny picture of you with your ponytail!!!

The pears are cooling in a medium sugar syrup. I ended up with approximately 4 quarts and there are still a hundred or so more pears on the tree :)
