It's just about done here, Irene's bark was worse than her bite. Our neighbor across the street had a large tree get uprooted, I believe it missed their house but I cannot see from this angle, I saw the tree fall when I was looking out the window. Our basement has flooded pretty badly, the ground is so saturated the water is just coming through the walls, I know what I'll be doing on Tuesday for my day off.
I hope everyone else has made it through with no issues.

Glad the worst is about over for you! We're still getting heavy wind in fits and starts---I haven't seen any major damage from my window, mostly LOTS of twigs, leaves, and small branches carpeting the yard. The worst of the rain is supposed to be over, but the wind is supposed to last into the evening.

Take care of yourself. It was a cold that led to broken ribs!!! Check in when you can!

I hope you are better soon - summer colds are the worst! Be safe, Merry!

I've just been vegging in front of TCM (a couple of very good Carole Lombard movies!), drinking tea with honey and lemon juice, and crocheting. The cold symptoms are mild---no way of knowing whether I can make it back down, or whether it'll get worse. It's a good day to stay in and take it easy.

irishsnow: Good evening - I hope you have been having a lovely day!

Made: I hope your headache goes away soon so you can enjoy the racing!

Well, batch number two of my peanut butter fudge looks and smells like I remember it should. When I taste-tested what was left in the pan, it tasted as rich as I remember. I haven't made fudge since my mom passed away back in '95, so if this batch sets up right, only having to make two batches to get the directions right is great! The first batch was edible, but very dry. I put the pieces in a freezer bag and will crumble them on top of chocolate ice cream - that is, if I ever buy chocolate ice cream. Maybe I should take them to my cousin - she eats ice cream just about every day cheesy

My Man Godfrey is one of my favorite movies of all-time - great cast and great story!!

Hi everyone! Glad to hear everyone is doing remotely okay from Irene - with the damage that some of you did suffer, I pray that you're able to quickly recover from it. I myself today am feeling okay. With it being 48 hours after my surgery, I am pretty much just sore. It's still hard for me because I can't do much - I'm not allowed to lift, which means I can't lift my kids, really do anything with them, and so on. I can't do any housework either, which makes it hard for my husband, but at least he is really willing to help! Hopefully in a few days I will be feeling better, but I will try to not push myself either!

I will keep praying for all of you affected by Irene. Have a good day all! cheesy

The worst was over around 1-1:30, and then we lost power around 2:30 for an hour, have the AC on to take some of the humidity out of the house, and then it is suppose to dip close to the 40's overnight. :???: Making dinner right now, Italian casserole, one of my wife's favorites. Back to school for her tomorrow, JP on Tuesday.

Enjoy your evening!

Good afternoon, Christmas family!

I hope this finds everyone well!!! My lazy Sunday is about over - going to start cooking dinner shortly and then there is some store work to get done . It is getting rather chilly out so it is perfect weather for using the oven - homemade pizza is on tap for tonight. Later on I will do some reading - I'm on book 5 of the Mary Russell mysteries.

Have a good night and be safe!!!!!!!!!

Anyone heard from Binger?

Not yet. The last I saw there was 800,000 people without power in Virginia so hopefully every thing is okay and he's just having to use his instant coffee right now.

Thanks my head feels a lot better but the race was pretty boring. I ended up in the kitchen making a big batch of pancakes for breakfast this week.

Thanks for checking in. Carole Lombard movies are a good way to recuperate! Maybe Made could come over and get better, too!

Definitely do not push yourself!!! Take care. Rest is a good way to heal.

Oooo. Please share the recipe!

My son checked in. He said they were without power for a few hours and cell service was still intermittent. I am surprised Binger didn't just go hang out at Starbucks and take a laptop with them!!!

It was a great day to sit in and..what else... drink coffee...

YABBA!
