Special Post Day 5

“Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to!”
quote from Miracle on 34th Street

To me, this is what the season is all about, faith.
We must have faith that each season will bring renewed hope for a better year.

Horrible things are going on in the world, wars; famine and earthquakes top the news far to often.
We worry about our health; finances; family and jobs.

But for one brief moment in time we can focus on something greater than ourselves.

We set aside what troubles us and peek into a barn at a baby asleep on the hay and marvel that the creator of the universe would humble Himself in this way.

Bright lights, decorated trees and fancy ornaments adorn our streets and homes

Strangers…who are actually talking to each other, are heard proclaiming
“Merry Christmas!”

People are seen sneaking around and hiding things.

Our kids seem to need very little sleep this time of the year and keep watching the sky to see if reindeer really know how to fly.
.
So when those with no Christmas spirit, tell you it’s to soon, to commercial, to noisy, to bright, to wasteful….
Just smile at them and give them a bit of your faith in what you know the season is about to bring!

Beautiful Christmasstar!!!!!!!

Good Morning MMC!!!!!!! It's going to be another cloudy rainy day here in central Indy. We are headed to a high of 70 degrees this afternoon. This is November right? My plan for today is to get all of my Christmas exchange cards ready to mail out. I probably won't send them until the week of thanksgiving but at least they will be ready. I also need to do some laundry and maybe some more Christmas shopping online. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning, dear Christmas friends!!

Just sitting here, having my coffee, and catching up before I need to start getting ready for work. Hope Tuesday has been good to you so far!

Our house is the only one on our block to have Christmas lights up, we're probably being labeled the crazy ones! Ha! Love it!

It's going to be another busy day at work, there's only the project manager & myself working on the administrative end of things, and it's a government job, so that means tons of paperwork & red tape. But, it's a great job, and it'll probably bring more projects in the long run, so I just try to stay positive about it all & just keep on keepin' on!

*One cool little find that I wanted to share was @ Walgreeens. They have cute little "A Christmas Story" plates, bowls, and cups! They're just the hard plastic melamine kind, but so cute & festive! I bought a set & have been using them, makes me smile!*

Well, better get ready for work. Hope you all have a great day!!
:merry:

Good Morning, Friends.
Welcome to Day 1 of our special post series as we close in rapidly on the start of Christmas Season 2011.

And what a fine, fine start is was with 'Star's literary home run.
You really hit that one out of the Christmas ballpark, my friend!

And what else is a big hit?
Why the count, of course (what little there is left of it!):
Days to the Season: 5 (WOW!!)
Days To Thanksgiving Day: 16 (Two weeks from the day after tomorrow!)
Days to Christmas Day: 47 (Barely over a month and a half!)

Again rather chilly at 43 for the morning shelty stroll. (I want to WALK -- he wants to stroll and explore.)
It is now 45 under calm, sunny skies with no precip in the forecast. And it should reach 70 by this afternoon!

I'm sure you all will have a Terrific Tuesday after reading 'Star's stellar essay.
Can't wait for tomorrow's, and the next day's, and the next day's, and.........

Next up - the fabulously fantastic, talented, trusted, and well coffee-fortified BINGER!

Beautiful! What a wonderful start to the lead-up to the season! Thank you! cheesy

That IS cool! I'll have to run over to Walgreen's, or maybe Party City, to see if I can find some!

Beautiful post, Christmasstar. It could not have been said any better. The Christmas Spirit will soon fill the entire world, and we can only do our best to bring the same happiness and joy that we associate with the Christmas Season to everyone else. It will soon be a Merry Christmas, indeed.

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

We had a widely-attended city council meeting last night to discuss our little post office. The USPS is planning to close it at the end of the year, and they just told us about it last week. After some research, we found that the USPS might support what known as a "Village Post Office". USPS allows a local business (in this case, my father-in-law) to maintain the post office, and the local route carrier would be responsible for sorting the mail every morning. There would be fewer services; no specialty shipping. Stamps and "If It Fits, It Ships" boxes only. But at least we'd be able to keep our mailing addresses and our zip code. I think it'll work.

We're also making plans to start putting up the Christmas banners and pole lights in town. Exciting!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

Good Morning Christmas Pals,

First and foremost I would like to THANK CHRISTMASSTAR for that ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL POST. What a wonderful way to start a day. :-D

Well its kinda cool here in NJ. Nothing spectacular going on but I feel the holidays in the air. I want to slow it all down just a little bit. Not many weekends left before the holidays arrive. My tree and outside lights go up this weekend and I am super excited. Yeah, yeah, I will get crazy looks from the neighbors too, but I don't care. I have kept Christmas in my heart all this long and now its time to let my love for Christmas show. Take care and lets all try to keep the inspiring words from Christmasstar with us all thru out our day. Have a TERRIFIC TUESDAY my friends!!!

:sparkle:

Good morning, everyone!

Once again 'Star did not disappoint. What a fantastic way to begin our special posts. I did not think it was possible, but such a literary gem has me even more excited for the Christmas Season to begin! Only four more days - and four more special posts - remain before we chime in our favourite Season!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - I wish. The wonderful lyrics are certainly not true in Ottawa. Above average temperatures and sunny skies have allowed plenty of yellow leaves to remain on the trees in Ottawa. With today's temperatures, it is highly unlikely to change. We are currently at 4c (39F). But, today's highs are to reach 12c (54F). Tomorrow it is supposed to be even warmer - perhaps a new all-time high for November 9th!? 17c (63F). Where are you, Christmas, indeed.

Temperatures seem to settle down and then pick back up again next week... Hopefully the extended 14-day forecast is correct - the latter portion of next week should bring seasonal, near freezing, temperatures!

After my workout, last night was relaxing. I watched the Bruins vs. Islanders hockey game and then the first period of the Kings vs. Sharks. The Kings lost again. They are slumping badly. Need to right that ship somehow.

Well, lots of work today - at least for now. I should really get to it. Only five more days until the Season! And, one more day until Binger marvels us all with his very own special post!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone! We are one more day closer to the Christmas Season. Can't wait for tomorrow... Our final visit to the 'Pines before we usher in the Christmas Season! How exciting!!
