Christmas Countdown - 2012

Good morning my Christmassy friends! It has been too long since I have checked in & I've missed you all! Good news is I have finished my SIL's afghan, started a new one lol, pulled off a surprise 60th birthday party for our neighbor, helped my sister cut nylon for scrubbies, put up what is possibly the last batch of tomatoes from the garden, AND I became a great Aunt again! AND we are week closer to Christmas! Wew! What a week it's been. Ha ha! Since starting my Christmas countdown clock on Oct. 1st, time is already going to fast!

Temps are going into the 70's here today too. Beautiful day!!

I'm sure I've missed a lot, so I'm heading back to read some posts!

Welcome back ~ we missed you, too! I'm still doing tomatoes, too ~ the garden is done, but I have boxes full of green ones that are slowly ripening. Enjoy your beautiful day!

We took our grandchildren to the State Fair of Texas last night. My 3 year old granddaughter was fearless and wanted to ride EVERYTHING, even the rides she was not tall enough for. We went to one ride (as pictured below) that looks very scary. She wanted to ride it really bad but as soon as a scary clown stepped out on the balcony (where the eyes of the skull is) she said, "I don't want to be with him"! She decided not to ride it because of the clown! I can't say I blame her but funny that the ride itself didn't look scary to her, just the clown!!!

It was crowded last night but we had a blast! I laughed so much with the kids when we rode rides together. Fun times!!!

What a smart girl your granddaughter is ~ I would avoid clowns, too!

It's all the glitter Christmas items they are selling on QVC and somehow turned into a drinking game to drink up (doesn't have to be alcohol!) when you see glitter.

I just don't know how that all started. Made??? Explain please!

Binger was looking for an excuse to drink more coffee during Christmas in July. So they came up with the idea of a drinking game and since everything QVC was selling had Glitter on it, it was just a natural choice.

hey y'all! nice 1/2 day @ work. we are gonna start tomorrow on some of the trees in the shop. we discussed themes & color schemes.

Hi everyone!!! Crazy busy last two days, I am still trying to catch up --- ye gads!!!

Now, I normally only watch Hallmark during the Holiday's but I was channel surfing last week and came across a movie Operation Cupcake, how cute, it was a nice movie, not too fluffy so to speak.

You know all this time I have never checked out some of the other sites like Real Thanksgiving, the Halloween one, has anyone here checked them out?

This weekend I am setting my fruit cakes, YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!

Good afternoon everyone. The wife and son came back from the church youth trip Monday night. (wife was one of the chaperones). They had a great time and grew closer to each other and Jesus Christ in the process. I missed them but it was nice to have some alone time.

Fall break starts at the college tomorrow so I have a 4 day weekend. I worked in private industry for 25 years and now with the college for 5. It is a nice place to wind down a working career. My wife and son still have work/school tomorrow and Friday so I will have the house to myself during the day.

Hope to enjoy some time outside. Weather forecast is nice with highs in upper 50's/low 60's and lows in upper 30's. In between raking leaves, I may even watch a Christmas movie.

the amount of mail i had to deliver was alright...the problem was....there were lots of catalogues....which make the bike very happy to drive.....so my legs are horribly tired

all those peeps looking for Christmas gifts in a catalog, hhmmmm, i never thought about the mail person having to carry them all. you poor thing! hope you feel better!

feeling so festive and also really looking forward to halloween! so many christmassy days out planned, shame they cost so much money, but what can you do? i'm going to try not to stress about it. i can still have a wonderful christmas on a careful budget.

going to cook a lovely roast pork dinner this sunday and stay in all day watching christmas films. i just LOVE this time of year.

Hello everyone! It's been a couple days since I last posted, and boy has a lot happened...

We finally got ahold of our wedding photographer on Friday...and I honestly can't say more about her now without going into a cuss-filled rant, which is obviously inappropriate for this forum. Basically she lied to us on more than one occasion, we ended up having to shell out money for something that was supposed to be free, and the pictures we ended up with were, for lack of a better word, crap. We ended up getting almost 1500 total, but when nearly 1200 of them are useless, either because of lighting issues, blurriness, or she cropped them wrong...what we are left with, we can't even make a full wedding album out of. She took (not even lying) over 500 pictures JUST OF MY HAIR GETTING DONE! That would've been fine if she'd've taken that many pictures of everything else! A lot of pictures that we knew she'd taken, we didn't even get on our DVDs, and a lot of the ones that did turn out were of just me getting ready. Hubs and I are both really upset and we have asked all of our friends/family who were at the wedding for ANY pictures they may have of that day as we try to salvage together pictures for an album. Aside from all the lies she fed us, when I asked her about some of the pictures that were missing, she accused me of not being happy with her pictures or services (which she wasn't wrong about, but I hadn't even said anything at that point) and suggested that we "sever our relationship and that we should pay someone else to edit our pictures". I was blown away (read: VERY IRATE) after that and didn't even say anything back to her. If any of you would like the whole story I will be more than willing to tell you, but it's wayyyy too long to just post out here.

I sure hope you find enough good pictures for your album, that just sucks....

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I left work early yesterday to go with Jacob and the family to his guitar lesson, and to do the Walmart run. We also stopped by Hobby Lobby, so I got the peruse the Christmas aisles again!

I splurged on some pork lo mein for supper. Pretty good!

My 3 year old granddaughter is just like me! She got a set of Olivia books and one of them is titled, "Olivia helps with Christmas". Her mom sat down to read some of the books to her and my granddaughter picked up the Christmas one and said, "Grandma will read this one to me, I have to take it to her house"! Guess what? The book is here at my house to stay!!!

My granddaughter talks about Christmas and Santa ALL YEAR LONG! What a smart little girl! :thumbsup:

I remember when my sister and I were little we used to play christmas during our summer holiday. We used to lower the blinds to make the room dark, set up a house (or was it a iglu, not sure anymore) and we listened to my mothers christmas cds. It wouldn't be real summer holidays without it!
