I don't know what's going on with me this year. I am having a very hard time getting into the holiday spirit. I'm not down or depressed or anything like that, just not felling it this year. I am hoping Thanksgiving will kick me into gear, but I am usually well into the spirit of the holidays by this time.:-?
I found a jar of it for you.....
draft_lens2250991module12234196photo_1224646919christmas_spirit_apothecary.jpg

of course it is invisible, but you will know when you open the jar that it is there!

I've experienced that at times in the past. Especially seeing TV commercials for luxury cars, diamonds, and all sorts of material things all in the name of Christmas. What has worked for me is remembering what Christmas is really about. When I forget about all the commercialism and focus on celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, I have the Christmas spirit. I know this sounds like the story line for "A Charlie Brown Christmas", but it does work for me.

I do enjoy the secular side of Christmas, but the true joy comes in knowing Christ and focusing on the celebration of his birth. Just meditating on the fact that God became a man, born of a virgin, lived a sinless live, died for our sins, arose on the 3rd day, now sits at the right hand of the Father and will one day return for his bride (the church). How cool is that?

Well said MGramsey...and amen. :-D

Good morning everyone,

It was a busy weekend for me. My dad arrived in town Thursday evening. We didn't do anything special but had a good time. The Packers did their best to keep us on the edge of our seats and screaming at the TV yesterday, but they managed to pull it out in the end. I think that helped complete the weekend. Now, he driving back home to Sault Ste. Marie. The good part is that I will see him in just over a month. Hard to believe that I will be flying home for Christmas in a month and a day from today. Wonderful. Until then, I will continue to enjoy the sights, sounds and magic of the Christmas Season.

On Thursday night my Blackberry decided to stop functioning properly. Somehow, my screen had two thick white lines going through it. I phoned my provider on Friday and they gave me quite an awesome deal for a new phone. They actually offered to pay my phone bill for this month even though I wasn't under warranty. It was the perfect trade off because that covered the price of the new phone ($48). Really, I only spent $2 to make the switch/upgrade my phone. Although I enjoyed it, I went from Blackberry to a Samsung Galaxy Ace. We'll see how long this thing lasts!

We went to Bayshore Shopping Centre on Saturday. I managed to take a few pictures. Not as many as I usually do, however. There were so many people! I'll post them very soon. It was real nice to see all the festive decorations and products. I finally purchased a Christmas Countdown. Although it's not electronic, it will do! Perhaps we will find another next year. Yesterday, we just stayed in to watch football. It was nice to unwind.

Oh, it was also one of my good friend's 29th birthday on Saturday night. Let's just say we had a lot of great fun. Kim and I didn't return home until 3 AM.... Thankfully, he only lives a street over and about two blocks down.

As for today, it should be real busy. Work seems to be going OK, but I have to do a bunch of things. After work, I have the gym, dinner, and studying! I have a very important job interview tomorrow. Studying is quite necessary. We'll see how it goes!

I hope to have the opportunity to respond to some posts later. Keep enjoying the Christmas Season, everyone! The first official week is almost complete. Let's keep making it magical. Merry Christmas.

Hi Brent ! So glad you got to visit with your dad. Sounds like you had a great time !! xo

I'm right there with you SIT. I'm kind of going through the motions but the normal cheer just isn't there yet. There's been some glimpse's of it while we were counting down to the season and when that first weekend of Hallmark Christmas movies aired but right now I'm just not feeling it.

I think all of that glitter got to me.

Good morning, MMC! I have missed talking to you all. I have been so busy lately preparing for Thanksgiving. How are you all doing and how are your families? What are your Thanksgiving plans? Do you cook the whole meal or just make a side/dessert? What's your favorite dish? I love hearing your plans!

Last week was so busy. I had two projects to do later in the week, so I spent the weekend and Monday/Tuesday preparing for them. On Wednesday I had a presentation, and then I had an even bigger one on Thursday. I think I did really well on both of them - I am just happy that they are over with. It is like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. After the presentations were done, I did the Thanksgiving grocery shopping for everything we would need. I was happy to be able to meet up with friends on Friday/Saturday because I finally had some free time!

Of course, my favorite part of this weekend was decorating for Christmas! We got all of the decorations up in the house, my dad put up the lights and decorations outside, and we put the tree up. All of the ornaments still have to go on the tree, but we have to wait until we get our new tree topper. The other one went bad and the lights cannot be replaced in it. Since I told you guys about my mom's present, I gave it to her since we decorated this weekend. She absolutely loved it!

I had to mention - remember the 2012 jingle wreath from QVC? We ordered it in September or October I believe and it came last week. We are so disappointed. It looks OK (and that's even being generous) but you can barely smell the fresh balsam unless you walk up right to it. Something that big is supposed to make your whole house smell wonderful and it does not at all! Oh well.

I am actually off from college this week, which is basically unheard of. My college has a shorter Christmas break than everyone else, so it's surprising they are even giving us a Thanksgiving break. I am going to spend the week doing some last minute Thanksgiving grocery shopping, cleaning, and maybe some Christmas gift shopping. I have so much left to do!

I hope you are all doing well! I think maybe I will catch up in a little bit here and see what I missed from yesterday.

I bet your home is so pretty all decorated for Christmas !!! xo

The repairman that was here on Saturday came back today with the "guy who can fix anything" and sure enough, he fixed our furnace! Apparently the wrong-sized screw was used on one of the replacement parts. They cleaned the furnace out, replaced the screw and it sounds like the day it was installed.

I'm glad to hear that you didn't have to replace the whole thing!!!!!:???:

Good Morning MMC!!!!!! It's a beautiful day here in central Indy. It looks like the high is going to top out somewhere in the low 60's. Today is going to be a busy one for me. I've already been to Toys r us and finished off my niece's Christmas shopping. I also stopped by the post office to get stamps for the card exchange but they didn't have Christmas stamps. So I just came home and ordered them online. So my cards are going to be a little later than usual. Of course I usually order my stamps back in July but I just got busy and forgot about it this year. I also want to get all of my prep work for the dishes I am making for Thanksgiving done today. That way I'm not rushed on Wednesday afternoon when I go to make them. I also have a 10 pound turkey that I need to cook today. On top of all of that, I finally broke down and got my Christmas decorations down out of the attic last night. So I want to start getting everything set out. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!

How exciting that your decorations are out of storage !!! Can't wait to see them again....Pictures yes ???? xo

While I was at Toys r Us this morning I found a 12 inch talking plush version of the Santa from Arthur's Christmas and even though I said that I was only going to buy old world or Jim Shore Santa's from here on out, I just couldn't help myself. I mean he was only $1.98 on clearance and my niece's will love playing with him.

Awwwwww..He's adorable !!! xo

I'm going to quit bragging about Elizabeth's performance in the Nutcracker one of these days...but not today! The Statesboro Youth Ballet program just opened last year, and it's already turning out great performances. Now she wants to stop taking dance from her current teacher here in Claxton, and start going there. Ouch! Not only is it 30 miles away, it costs a LOT more. We're going to have to think and pray about this one.

Congratulations to Elizabeth!!!! I'm glad to hear that she had such a great time.

Nice to see you SIT........I hope you get in the spirit too...I have had years like that though. Eventually the spirit showed up xo

So glad your furnace is fixed !!! There is nothing like a broken furnace in the dead of Winter.........xo

It is overcast here today in northern California. After Tuesday and Wednesday, the radiation doctor is letting me free on Thursday and Friday to enjoy the holidays; but it will be back to the grind, or should I say "nuke," on Monday.

You are so right, MGramsey, regarding the Christmas Season. How is your mom doing, by the way?

Tonight is football, so that means we are having something simple: pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, red potato salad, and then cookies for dessert.

School is out this week, but with radiation, I had already taken the time off!

I am not sure if I will get on later. If not, have a great rest-of-the-evening, everyone!

My sister and I and our Mom went to a friend's 90th birthday celebration on Saturday, and when I got Mom home, she asked me to look at her ice maker because it wasn't working. What really wasn't working was the whole refrigerator. The smell when I opened the refrigerator door was simply indescribable. My sister came back (she was already at her own house), and we took Mom shopping for a new fridge. We managed to get one at a good price, but the soonest we could get delivery was this Friday. My sister and I were cleaning out all this smelly food at 10:00 at night, so that we could get it into the next day's trash pickup. What a thing to happen right before Thanksgiving!

I am so glad you discovered this about your mother's fridge !!!!

Good Monday afternoon, my Christmas friends!

I'm sitting here at my desk listening to the EPCOT Park Christmas background music that someone here on MMC sent to me a couple years ago. I love this! I can imagine walking around an amusement park (I have Dollywood in mind, usually) while this music plays in the background. Christmassy!

I hope y'all have a great afternoon! cheesy

Awwww...You have every right to brag, Brad !!!! I bet she was amazing !!! xo It is SO COOL that she wants to pursue dancing !! xo

How exciting that your decorations are out of storage !!! Can't wait to see them again....Pictures yes ???? xo

Yeah, if my sister's ever leave me alone long enough to get them up.

Thank you for this post !! I agree totally. It is so exciting to me that Jesus came to us and in such poor circumstances. I just did a blog about Mary, not a very good one, but I wanted to pay tribute to Jesus' birth !! xo

I may be out of line requesting this, so if I am let me know.
My daughter, LittleCS has been going through a really rough time. She lost her job so did not join in the Christmas card exchange this year. She is so sad and I know some bright Christmas cards would really cheer her up. If any of you want to could you send her a card too? You can send it care of me and if I get any I will sneak in when she is not home and put them on her Christmas tree as a surprise.
Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone! Hope all is well! Been busy today, doing a lot around the house and did some shopping.

We went to Hobby Lobby. I finally got garland got the fire place. I've been meaning to get there, but just haven't. I also got trees for the kids' rooms and stuff to decorate them.

EA did wonderful in her parade on Sunday and really enjoyed herself. We have two next week and she is really looking forward to it.

Well, I am going to relax with the family here for a little while longer, then it is off to bed for a short nap. I go back to work tonight. Talk to you all soon!
