Be safe, happy, and healthy!

I love hearing stories about your kids opening presents! I can't wait until I have kids one day and I can get them excited and loving Christmas as much as I do.

Santa came! I slept in this morning and now I am waiting for my brother to wake up (which could be a couple of more hours haha!) until I open mine. It is a tradition to open our gifts together, so I guess in my case, patience is a virtue!

Have a WONDERFUL day and make sure to say Merry Christmas as often as possible! Our day has arrived!!

Good morning everyone. Good Christmas morning. Merry Christmas morning.

Merry Christmas, everyone! Yes. The moment we've been counting down for all year has happened. What a wonderful event. It was felt with smiling faces, laughter and complete joy. For me, it's always a pleasure to return home and experience Christmas with my family. I'm lucky to have enjoyed it again this year and throughout my entire life.

All my gifts have been open. My brother has a few things under the tree. He and his wife will be coming over this afternoon for Christmas dinner and everything else. As always, dinner should be delicious.

Anyway, I am sure that you all are having a wonderful Christmas surrounded by your family, friends and loved ones. It truly is the most magical time of the year. I guess that's why we're all here sharing our experiences and relations to the Christmas Season nearly 365 days a year.

It's been wonderful. Now, I guess we can start our preparations for next Christmas. Can't wait for the count to return in January. Until then, I will enjoy the rest of the Christmas Season.

Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thank you to everyone on MMC for being the best group of "internet" friends I have ever encountered. I may be lucky to have a wonderful family, but I am very lucky to have you all, too. Enjoy every moment of today!

Merry Christmas to you too Jennifer, enjoy our special day.

Good morning and Merry Christmas!!! (I can't say Merry Christmas enough, I love it) cheesy

We got our white Christmas, and it is still lightly snowing. Santa came and left his treasures, breakfast of cinnamon rolls and bacon already down the hatch. Just sitting here enjoying the sounds of the boys playing with their new toys, and watching Ralphie for the 21st time. Family will be here soon enough, and we will be having Prime rib and turkey with all of the fixins'.

I hope you all enjoy this wonderful day, the best day of the year, I don't know if I will be back again today.

Have a great Christmas Day.

Sounds like a wonderful day! ENJOY!!!!!

We are just hanging at home right now. Feels kinda good, but it doesn't feel like Christmas. I think we are both tired from our busy day/late night yesterday. I'm sure we will find some Chrismtassy things to do with family later on today!!! Hope you are all having a super great day!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!

Merry Christmas, everyone! We're getting ready to go to my sister's for the day. We're having turkey and stuffing, corn pudding, and all the other trimmings. I'm sure there will be at least one Christmas movie, and lots of music.

I hope all of you have a very merry Christmas day!

Another excellent song, AMD!!! Love the ho, ho, ho part!

Hold on a minute - what was I thinking - dashing off like a reindeer without leaving a Christmas poem or song for your amusement!

Groovy Santa By: Auntie Mistletoe (Sung to the tune of Rockin' Robin; Jimmie Thomas [Leon Rene] Performed by: Bobby Day; Dave Clark Five, The Jackson Five and others)

He rides in his sleigh every Christmas Eve
Delivering surprises for you and me
The folks at Santa Update are tracking his moves
Old folks are dancing ‘cause Santa grooves.

Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Oh groovy Santa you really know how to dance.

Every adult from North Bay to Sydney
Every child from San Francisco to Liverpool
Groovin’ like Santa ‘cause he’s so cool
The left-foot dancin’ Mistletoe Queen
Twistin’ and turnin’ all over the scene.

Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Oh groovy Santa you really know how to dance.

A movin’ and a groovin’ not steppin’ on other folks shoes
Groovy Santa can you teach us your stylish moves
Teach me how to dance to your festive groovy beat
I’ll start in Alabama and head all the way to Toronto’s Young Street
Sharin’ what I’ve learned for others to dig deep.

Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Oh groovy Santa you really know how to dance.

He grooves in his sleigh and around the Christmas tree
Movin’ and a groovin’ and Ho-Ho-in’ so merrily
All the folks in Australia and Alaska too
Watchin’ you groovin’ in your red bath robe
Twistin’ and turnin’ all around the globe

Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Oh groovy Santa, you really know how to dance.

He grooves in his sleigh and around the Christmas tree
Movin’ and a groovin’ and Ho-Ho-in’ so merrily
All the folks in Australia and Alaska too
Watchin’ you groovin’ in your red bath robe
Twistin’ and turnin’ all around the globe

Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Groovy Santa (ho ho ho ho ho)
Oh groovy Santa, you really know how to dance.

A Special Gift

You’re giving me a gift each day,
Discovering similarities along the way,
In sharing cherished days gone by,
Waiting for the season to greet us again,
Your friend, in Christmas, I remain.

Merry Christmas y'all!

I love the picture you created in my mind. I, too, sign. Sometimes I am called into the office when we have a deaf parent come in. I always enjoy it. When I forget a sign, I fingerspell the word and ask the parent what the sign is. They seem truly appreciative that a hearing person can sign.

We had a tradition of reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas before our Christmas Eve guests would arrive. I am certain we never skipped our tradition. When we were teenagers, we took turns reading the story. (By then we didn't really need the book to tell the story. I loved how old-fashioned the pictures were in the book we had.) I had taken Sign Language at the Bob Rumble School for the Deaf (for interest and communication with children diagnosed with Autism who couldn’t speak) - that year as a young adult I "signed" our traditional story - it took about an hour. Family was getting a bit bored. It was the last Christmas Eve we were all together at the same time. Growing up changes things a bit - but the joy, the excitement of other people being happy is the best - by the way, my parents still have the original story and my brothers and I received our own copies the year we were unable to be together.

As traditions go, that's one I surely miss. I still read it to myself and any group of children who are willing to listen. I gave my youngest grandchildren the story a few years ago hoping a tradition I loved so much would carry on.

 So, there I was sitting with O'Malley on the loveseat retelling the old classic story without a book in hand.

You are definitely on a roll, AMD!!!

Christmas Is A Happy Time (Sung to the tune of Rock Me Gently performed by Andy Kim)

I think it’s grand
I feel it’s right
That special star shines
On Christmas Eve - night,
Reminding us of
The first Christmas Time

That star shines, it shines, it shines

Carols playin’
People prayin’
Friends getting’ together
In all kinds of Christmas weather
Strangers smiling’
To folks as they’re passing by

Smilin’ as they’re passing by, by, by

Sugar cookies
So soft and chewy
Molasses cookies
Warm and gooey
Special treats
For a special time
It’s Christmas time, time, time

Christmas is a happy time
Happy time, time, time.

Santa’s comin’
Please believe me
He is a jolly guy
Comes by it naturally
He fills my stocking
With a special surprise
For the morning’
When I rise
A nice surprise, surprise, surprise

Christmas is a happy time
Happy time, time, time.

Christmas stories around the fire
Singing’ and dancing’ - Fancy attire
Cards to cheer you
Special dinner with
Family near you
Candles glowing
So warm and bright
Decorating is fun to do, to do

Christmas is a happy time
Happy time, time, time.

A Christmas Tree
Stands in the corner
Presents under it
Snow villages on display
Children shouting - a special Birthday
For some Advent candles are lit, are lit, lit

Christmas is a happy time
Happy time, time, time.

I think it’s grand
I feel it’s right
That special star shines
On Christmas Eve - night,
Reminding us of
The first Christmas Time
That star shines, it shines, it shines

Christmas is a happy time
Happy time, time, time.

Your post put a smile on my face, CAH!

Merry Christmas my dear friends!

Christmas Eve went very well. My Uncle Mike was with us and how I know is there was so much laughter in the house. He always made us laugh and he wants us to continue with that laughter! All his kids were there and they all had a very nice time.

Wayne and I are going to my job today to feed all the animals. It will be nice to spend a little Christmas with them!

We have thunderstorms going on right now and will turn to snow this afternoon! :playing:

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!!!

Sounds like the perfect day, Xmas. Wish I were there!

Thanks, Jennifer. Even as an adult, I still get up early on Christmas. When my kids were "out-growing" Christmas, I would get up early and wake them up just to see their faces when they opened their presents. I just couldn't help it! I, too, love hearing the stories about the kids opening presents. Now it is just me and Hubby, so I really miss that part. I am glad to have this forum to relive those happy moments through our friends here.

Good Christmas Day in the Morning. That's the title of a story by Pearl S. Buck that I truly love. If you ever get a chance, read it. The book I have is so beautifully illustrated by Mark Buehner. It was first written in 1955 and re-done in 2002. You can read it (sans illustrations) here: http://www.sheilaomalley.com/?p=8725, but the illustrations really bring the story to life. Let me know what you think. I want to add that I think I usually start my first Christmas Day post in the same way--Good Christmas Day in the Morning.

Merry Christmas, everyone!!!

Well said, Brent. It is amazing to me how this has happened for all of us. Thanks for being a part of this; you add a lot to the forum!

Thank you Seawaters. It's a great book and I love the movie with Patty Duke. I was so disapointed to not see it air this year. Or maybe I just missed. I will be ordering the DVD from Amazon because it's a must see for me every year. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Bullypup,
I have to re-read A Christmas Memory, a book I truly love. I love the quote in your siggie!

I have Christmas music on and a cup of coffee in front of me. So far, I have received diamond earrings and a gift card to Cracker Barrel. The gift card has become something of a tradition for me. I "introduced" Hubby to Cracker Barrel when we made a trip back "home" to NC. Then, we found one in Kingman, AZ, about 611 miles away! So, every time we travel anywhere near Kingman, we always stop in. Any excuse!!!

How did I not know this? I am ordering it right now! Thanks, Bullypup!
