Christmas family, may I ask a question ?? I put a wallpaper of Jesus on my Ipod. Do you think this is disrespectful ? I dont want to be disrespectful to Him, I just wanted His image with me all the time. I hope it is okay xo

Of course it is okay, I don't think it is disrespectful at all.

My thoughts are with you for your Dr appt tomorrow

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

I spend the evening fiddling around with a speed detection radar trailer that our group, "The Friends of Bellville", bought for the city. It's one of those trailers that displays how fast you are going and what the speed limit is. It's funny how many calls I get from folks in town wondering when I'm going to put it out again. Of course, I get calls when the water pressure is low, or when the neighbor's dog turns over a trash can...LOL! Such is the life of a public servant.

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

Umm, mayor, I am out of milk, and fabric softener, it's an emergency, my socks aren't soft enough... cheesy

Hello everyone! I thought I'd try participating in this thread a bit this year. I joined last fall and I would pop in the countdown from time to time, but the thread moves so fast that posting felt a little intimidating, like jumping into a fast-moving river...

Anyway, tomorrow we celebrate Three Kings Day at our house! We started this when our girls were small as a way of staying connected to their father's Puerto Rican roots, and to extend the Christmas fun into January . On the night of the 5th they would each decorate a shoebox however they wished; then they would go outside and trim grass to put in the box as a snack for the kings's camels as they passed by and left their gifts. The boxes were left under the (still decorated) Christmas tree. On the morning of the 6th they would awake to find the grass was gone from the boxes, and they were now filled with small wrapped gifts. Because it all has to fit in the shoebox it has always just been small stocking-stuffer type gifts, but they enjoy these little trinkets so much more on the 6th than they do on the 25th when they can be overlooked in favor of larger, more exciting gifts. Then their father reminisces with them about about his childhood Christmas celebrations in Puerto Rico, where in those days all the children received their gifts on Jan. 6.

Later in the day all the Christmas decorations are lovingly packed away for another year, and dinner will include a special dessert such as a Rosca de Reyes or a flan.

Does anyone else here celebrate Three Kings Day/Epiphany?

Welcome to the Countdown, post often!

I hope everyone is having a good week! I've been battling flu like symptoms for about 3 days now. I'll live but it's been uncomfortable.:) I've been waiting for a warm day to take down my outdoor lights and it looks like tomorrow could be it. Everything else is down. Everyone have a great day!

Hope you feel better!

Tomorrow morning I am going to start reading from page one of this new thread... I am sorry everyone for not being around lately. I miss all of you terribly but I will catch up this weekend!!!

No need to apologize, we understand how busy life gets. Especially when anticipating the little guy.

Can't sleep..when I close my eyes I have so much to do I can't relax...so I decided to get up and clean and now I am taking a break. I still have to take the xmas tree down!!!! I hae never ever left it up until Jan 6th...so I guess this year will be a record for me. I don't know what stuff brandi is using to clean this house but it smells like a dam clinic or hospital,I does not feel comfy at all,so I have alot to do tonight...I hope everyone had a great evening..talk to yall tomorrow!

One last thing...I have not mentioned this yet because I have tried so many times to stop smoking before and never lasted longer than 4 days...but anywho...I quit on december 5th and I have made it a month!!! I never smoked a day in my life until I hit 30 then It was just at work, but before I knew I was up to a pack a day the last few years and i knew I had to quit before the baby comes, not that i smoked in the house I always without fail went outside to the patio! i hate cig smoke.I thought after a month it would be easier but I guess old habits die hard!!??

Update on Mr., since several of you were kind enough to ask: The doctor couldn't find anything wrong, just told him to call again if the headache didn't go away in a couple of days. His head feels pretty tender where the train doors clipped him, but no double vision or anything like that. He just took it easy today and is going back to work tomorrow.

Re those cameras that shoot your license plate when you speed or go through a red light: I once got a citation from the state of New York assessing me a fine for going through a toll booth without paying. Only problem is, I've never driven in the state of New York in my life! I phoned the number in the letter and essentially was treated as guilty until proven innocent. Eventually they discovered that the car in their photo was a completely different make, model, and year from the one actually registered to my license number. Someone had misread the plate. I'll never forget how they treated me before it was straightened out. Did I get an apology? No way.

Good night, everyone ... the first Friday of the year will soon be here! I'll have a busy weekend undressing the Christmas trees and packing away decorations.

Congrats for passing the one-month mark! You're doing a good thing by quitting the cigs before the baby comes. Good for you! :celebrate:

I have never smoked in my life(I think it's a disgusting habit) but there is a dj here who smoked for 20 years and he switched to an electric cigarette and he now has quit. Congrats on your smoke-free month. Just think about your health and the extra years you will have with your family. Also the money you will save. Good luck.

So funny!!! I wonder if he could come over and swat flies in the summer. Just giving him a headsup!!! You know we are kidding, right???

THANKS SHELLIE GIRL!
Hope you feel better soon!
thanks sugar!
Long day, glad I am home again.
We watched the movie "War Horse" this afternoon before we came home.

Do movie theaters where you live also charge an arm and a leg for popcorn and a drink?
I kid you not, to get 2 med bags of popcorn, 2 med drinks and some candy they charged $22.99!!!!!
So, I thought I would just get a drink....$4.99 for that. I did with out. I can buy 6 liters of pop for less than one cup of pop at the theater.
star you are so right, theaters cost a fortune. we wait til everything comes out on dvd!

dude, i'm preparing myself for the same thing. unlike you i've smoked for 25 years, i started way too young, but i do smoke outside & hate the smell as well. dawg that's probably gotta lot to do w/ your insomnia. my goodness, you've quit smoking, waiting on your 1st child's delivery, working, & all the day to day stuff too, it's no wonder your so antsy! my thoughts are w/ you!
