Oooo. Thanks for the heads up. I have Amazon Prime, too. I will check into the movies. Did you find any info about your postcards?

Good morning, everyone ... it's a cloudy Sunday here, too. We're meeting a friend at a local restaurant for lunch later. We haven't seen her in a while so we'll be catching up.

Yesterday was fun. I bought a Roku (streaming video player) after Christmas because I have Amazon Prime and can watch some of their movies and videos for free. I got the bright idea of hooking it up to our video projector, and it worked! So we went downstairs and digitally rented some vintage movies from Amazon Video that we'd heard about but hadn't seen, and watched them on the movie screen, along with a couple episodes of Fry & Laurie. For about $7, we had a night out at the movies in our own home! We'll do that again sometime.

Okay. All this talk about cake makes me want to bake one. I will have to use a mix because I think I would tire myself out if I baked it from scratch. Maybe next time!!!

Good afternoon, (barely)

I stayed up and watched one heck of a Bruins game last night, they beat the Kings 4-2, Tim Thomas was in a zone! Not much to do today, it is my mother in laws b-day, so we may make a cake and bring it up to her. We will be celebrating it later on, in a week or 2.

Hope you all have a great day.

Happy :rudolph: Day!!!

Meet us for the trip to Caroline's for dinner.

Good afternoon, MMC!

My March Baking Blitz is over and the kitchen is almost all cleaned up, too. Yay! Today I made orange cream cheese bread, chees(y) onion bread and for dessert, coffee cream brownies. Everything smells good, haven't tasted anything yet, though.

Have a most MERRY Rudolph Day!

Coach- Well they all played nice and got to half way. I'll take it.

Good evening, everyone! Hope you're all well and everyone's weekened has been a blast. Mine went fast, but that is okay, since I worked it all. I work tonight, then I am off tomorrow. Yahhh :)

We're getting ready to eat here shortly, so I thought I would stop in quickly, post and start to get caught up here a little later.

Did anyone do anything interesting or fun this weekend? Sorry I have been missing so much. Know that I am thinking about all of you and you're all in my thoughts and prayers.

If you watch NBC Nightly News tonight in about an hour, you might see Mr.'s back. NBC is doing a piece about "Mad Men," so on Friday they shot some footage at the ad agency where Mr. works. If they use the footage they shot in his vicinity, it'll be in the beginning when the reporter introducing the story.

Fourth of July postcards are good collectibles - all vintage holiday ones are, esp. Halloween. I've only skimmed the surface of what there is to know about postcards - when I find a good source, I will get back to you cheesy

Thanks!

I love them, too, esp. the Christmas ones and ones with cats![/quotes]

Check out my online photo album---I have two images of Christmas postcards with cats. (I don't own the postcards myself---I just saved images I found on the Internet.)

How cool! I hope to be able to do that sometime in the future, too. What movies did you watch?

Obscure stuff that no one else would have heard of, of course---Pinky Tomlin in "Swing It Professor" (1936), and Frankie Darro in "Racing Blood" (1936 too, I think, or maybe it was 1937 ...) We also saw a newly restored version of Charlie Chaplin's short "One A.M." (1917, I think) which has had about seven more minutes restored and a new orchestral score.

No, but I haven't really been looking---I just asked Meceka if she had read any good resources lately that I might enjoy. I don't know much about them, but I enjoy collecting the old July Fourth postcards 'cause that's my birthday. But also because the lithography is so beautiful, and some of the images are so imaginative.

Who's he mad at??? LOL!

I forgot my son was in the regional spelling bee at a school about 30 miles from here. He won second place in regional 8th grade!

Congrats to your son. That is awesome!

Silly! cheesy

I haven't seen it, but I understand "Mad Men" is a sitcom about a 1960s-era advertising agency. So I guess NBC thought it would be cute to drop in on a present-day, real-life ad agency. We didn't think they'd shoot footage in Mr.'s department---that's not where the self-styled "creative geniuses" are---but they set up and shot there after all.

I opted for a cake from scratch, but it is as easy as a mix cake. It is called Dump Cake because all you do is dump in the ingredients and stir. The frosing is what I like best. I know there is a place for recipes, but I am not sure where this would fit.

2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 20-oz can crushed pineapple (juice and all)
1 cup chopped walnuts

Mix and bake in a greased and floured (I use the spray that has flour in it) 13 by 9 pan for 45-50 minutes. While cake is warm, top with frosting.

Frosting
1 (8-oz) pkg cream cheese
1/2 cube butter or margarine
1 & 3/4 c powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 c chopped walnuts

Cream the cream cheese and butter. Mix in the sugar and remaining ingredients. Spread over warm cake.

Oh, they knew where the real geniuses were!!!

Good evening, Christmas family

Not much going on today. Went and got Hermione a new collar for her puppy class which hopefully starts next Sunday. It is chilly here today so we have a small cozy fire going in the fireplace.

Thank you to everyone who offered views on working for just the money as well as a job that make you happy. I think the first step I am going to take is trying to cut back to 4 days a week and becoming part time. That will help a lot and give me a little more time away from typing so much. We will see what they say and I will let you know.

Happy Rudolph Day to All !!
