Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

We had a busy weekend. My son and I went fishing Saturday morning, worked in the yard during the day, then went fishing again that evening. I hooked a couple nice ones but I couldn't get them in the boat, they kept getting off the hook! Jacob caught a couple 2 - 2.5 pound bass, and a few more 1 - 1.5 pounders....he outfished the old man....badly!

My mom is in the mountains this week, so we had lunch at Bernie & Hilda's yesterday, then I worked on the getting ready for our pool party. Some of Nancy's family came over to swim, then we had watermelon, I grilled chickens, baked beans & homemade ice cream. Nice!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

Well, she's going away this fall to college (about an hour away from here), which will be the first time that she has been away on her own and it will also be a major change for me as well, with her not being her. I told her I was going to get a web cam installed on my PC/ her laptop so that I can see her at times when she's not at home.

If anyone has any children at home, spend as much time with them as you can (especially all the dads), treasure every moment with them as you can because before you know it, one day you'll turn around and they will no longer be little anymore....I'm glad that I was there....

so true!
We have the web cam and talk to each other almost every day that way. So much nicer to talk face to face.

Seeing them leave home for the first time is hard, the house seems so empty, you cry a little, wonder what to do with your time now. You want them home every weekend, need to talk to them every day.
Then one day you realise it has been a couple of days, even maybe a week since you talked to them. Weekends home turn into once a month events. That is when you know the apron strings are truly cut. They are adults standing on there own, and how good it feels to know you have done a great job getting them ready for this. Now you get to start on a whole new adventure where you now relate as adults, still supporting and loving each other.
It's a whole new stage in life, but you will grow to love it!

For those of you that don't already know Snow-in-Texas has been in the hospital since Saturday with an irregular heart beat. The blood tests have all come back okay but his heart hasn't returned to the normal rhythm yet. I just heard from Christmas-A-Holic and she said if it doesn't return to the normal rhythm today they will put him to sleep and shock it back. She was hoping everyone could say a prayer for him or keep him in their thoughts today.

I have been following their story on facebook, will continue to pray.

My hours off yesterday were quite productive. Drum roll, please: I finished that book I was reading!!!!

So glad that is over with! I got my digital camera working again, too, so I took a lot of pictures of Mouse, Palmer and the cats outside. I hope to load some of them on here later in the day. I also made some cookie dough that had to chill. The dough is for lemon balm cookies - I had best get going and get them baked before I have to start work. It is nice out, but still chilly in the house - perfect baking weather!

Have a most MERRY day!!!!

sounds like you had a great weekend!!

cm3- i hope you feel better-maybe you need an antibiotic? [/QUOTE said:
Thanks MerryMistletoe xo I think it may be a combination of sinus infection/ allergies which I have year round...I take a prescription sinus med which is barely handling the sniffles associated with this...but I am sure it will be better.

One last question... (sorry! lol)
I thought I read that they order your 2 exclusive ornaments, and have them delivered to your local store. Is that correct? You go pick them up there?

You're the best! Thanks in advance!

We're here!

Good Morning, Christmas friends!!

How are you today?

I'm ok, for a Monday ;-)

I saw gabulldawg posted that we're @ 4 weeks out from the 4th of July, and it got me thinking about how it falls in the middle of the week- on a Wednesday... We get Wednesday off, but come back Thursday. Is that the same for most of you?

It is HOT here, 108 today for the high, and high wind warning coming in this afternoon. I was daydreaming of Fall again yesterday, so I thought I'd throw in a seasonal movie. I watched "The Lady In White". Has anyone ever seen that? Very good old ghost story. You have to get past the "special effects" from the 80's, but if you can do that, it's a great movie. I love the scenery of the small town.

Thinking of Snow-In-Texas, CAH, and Seawaters.
I'll keep you all in my prayers. As well as anyone else here that needs them. Take good care, friends~

Hope you all have a nice Monday!!

:sparkle:

Good morning!!! I wanted to check in today with all you Christmas crazies!! :D It has been a couple weeks - the weeks are flying!! I have been thinking about Christmas a lot lately. Usually it hits after our town festival at the end of June & the 4th of July, but this year it hit me after Memorial weekend already! (not that I am wishing away summer...) I think it is b/c I have been seeing Christmas episodes on tv & I have also been thinking about & wondering what Christmas Eve is going to be like at my parents this year without my brother Mike physically being there! :( I know we are going to miss him like crazy (we already do) but I think it's important to keep our happy/jolly/fun Christmas just that - happy/jolly & fun - that is how Mike would like it to be! It's important to enjoy every single Christmas we are given - together! So far I am looking forward to Christmas & I am viewing it as a MERRY time of year - I need to keep myself in this mode! It will be a challenge this year, but I can do it!!! :tree:

Prayers going up for snow-in-texas! hope it all turns out well!!

I hope you are all enjoying some nice weather - have a great week!!!

Everthing went according to plans, and my daughter (my little girl, "daddy's girl") has now graduated from High school...."sniff", and has just left with her older brother to head down to Ocean City, Maryland to stay there for a week with 5 of her girlfriends in a room. She's a really good girl, loves school (she averages between 3.8 and 3.9 GPA) honor roll, etc... But I'm still a little sad, It's the first time that she has ever been off on her own, and I'm sitting here, worrying, like a nervous ninny.... and I know and realize, that as much as I have to learn to let go, this is, one of the most difficult things as a Father, that I have ever done, is to start letting go..... She looks at me like her Dad is as tough as nails, But when it comes to her, I melt like a marshmellow on the inside. It makes me sad (sitting here thinking) knowing that's she's growing up....

As a footnote here, I do have one thing that makes me feel a little better, that is her older brother will be down there as well (a few blocks away) and I know that he will keep an eye on her.
I can't stand to even think in those terms. Just last night, for the first time in a long time, my 11 year old Elizabeth asked me to lie down with her when she went to bed. When she was smaller I always did, but it's been a long time since she asked. The whole time I was there, all I could think about was how long it had been since we'd last done this. Where did the time go?

Sympathies for you, my friend. My heart will break in half when my little girl leaves.
