snowflake22- Beautiful Just beautiful, thank you for posting that!

:sparkle:Hi lilnoelelf!
I thought it was a beautiful prayer of remembrance. xo

Hello Christmas Family!
Hope your day is going well. As alot of other folks are doing today,I've been looking back on Tuesday September 11, 2001. to be honest I don't know if I can put into words how I felt that day because I went thru so many emotions, and 9/11 is one of the biggest reasons I became a firefighter/rescue. not for the Glory of it, nor a title, nope for me it was simple. To be there for my fellow man in their time of need. I wanted to help, wanted to do something.

From that day,9/11,I was humbled more, became a better person, and I have heard this alot today, I for one Hugged my kids tighter, laughed more and Loved with everything I have in me. My dear late mother was a police officer for 14 in a half years. she gave it all up to have me and alot of folks thought I would follow in her footsteps and the footsteps of 4 uncles, and 8 cousins. Nope I became the first firefighter in the family. and my Number on the fire department is close to me because it was the same as my momma's 584.

So today like lots of others, I think back on that day that changed so many different lives, and affected everyone.

the biggest thing 9/11 taught me- tell your family and friends today you love them, you may not have the chance tomorrow

Very true. God bless you & your family!! xo

Love y'all
lilnoelelf

P.S. Thanks again Mr.Jeff!

Just for a laugh. if you guys ever come to ireland this is what your up againsted lol

hi what do you guys call a garage sale???
is that like taking stuff from your house and settingup a table outside your home and selling stuff??? like do you advertise or what or does every tom.dick and harry just stop

Yes, a lot of times people will set up their stuff for the sale in their garage, and out into their yard & driveway. (Sometimes we call it a yard sale, too) =]
Some people put signs up & down the street to advertise, and even sometimes in the newspapers, too.

Estate sales are fun to look at. as well. You can find some beautiful things.

Good Afternoon Christmas Pals,

Just stopping by to say "Hello" and hope everyone is having a FANTASTIC day!!!!

Hi TamaraQT! Hope you are having a lovely day, too!!

We are having a wonderful downpour right now!!
I'm doing a rain dance!

hey guys,

day packed with emotion and heartache today.

we laid to rest a dear family friend, aged 28. his mother is a close friend of my mother and aunties, almost like family. the young man who passed away was a friend of mine and my cousins. so heartbreakingly sad, he was his mother's only child and as you can imagine she is distraught.

she asked for this poem to be read out today in the church -

I'll lend to you for a little time,
A child of mine," He said.
"For you to love him while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.

"It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you till I call him back
Take care of him for me?

"He'll bring his charms to gladden you
And should his stay be brief,
You'll have these precious memories
As solace for your grief.

"I cannot promise he will stay
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

"I've looked this whole world over,
In my search for teachers true.
And in the crowds that throng life's land,
I have selected you.

"Now will you give him all your love,
Not think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
To take him back again?"

It seems to me I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys the child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.

"We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness that we've known
Forever grateful stay.

"And should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand."

as you can imagine, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. no parent should ever have to experience that. life can be so cruel.

also, there are lots of programmes on this evening about 9/11. it still has such a huge impact over here in the UK and our hearts still break for those who lost their lives and their families. there are some evil, evil people in this world.

Good Morning, Friends of the Holidays in general and Christmas in particular.

And let's be particular about this:
Days to the Season: 63
Days to Christmas Day: 105
And even more particular about the fact that our next Milestone, the 100-day Window to Christmas Day, is merely five short days away.
(Now that's particularly exciting!)

Marvelous weather!
Can't complain in any way.
Moderate temps, low humidity, lots of sun and no precipitation.
Grrrrrreat!
We show a coolish for mid September 58 degrees here, currently.

A Terrific Tuesday is just ahead.
Are you ready?
Better be.
Because 'Pines Day is tomorrow.
And that's something you really have to be ready for!

Thank you again, Crown !! You are too wonderful for words doing this countdown every day !! Where would we be w/o you ?? xo

Frost early this morning.

Temperatures are forecast to fall to around zero early this morning with fairly widespread ground frost expected.

these places are about the same distance north as Ottawa.

At least a 9 hour drive from where I am, so it will be awhile before it gets here, just thought I would let you all know it is on the way!

I wish it would get that cold here !! xo

Good morning everyone!

It's another cool, crisp mid-September morning in Ottawa. We're currently at 10c (52f) in Canada's Capital. Temperatures should reach the mid-20s/lower 70s today. Not bad! Aside from the gym, yesterday was a quiet evening. Kim and our roommate Mike both were at concerts. Kim went to see Madonna. She arrived home at about 1 AM from the show. I was sleeping and not in the mood to talk much. She'll tell me today! Mike came home real early from seeing Bon Iver. He wasn't impressed.

The gym yesterday was a little fun. I still haven't defeated this patellar tendonitis, however. It's still causing problems. I had hoped it would be done by now (I've had six weeks off), however, it may be another six weeks until I can do anything. I honestly have no idea. We'll see what the physio says on Thursday.

Well, I really should get back to work. I'll drop in when I have some time later. Have a great Tuesday everyone!!

I hope you feel better, Brent. Tendonitis is one of the MOST painful things I think there is !!

Tuesday hello! It's a cool, clear, brilliantly sunny day here, but it's a little eerie because the weather was so similar back on that other September 11th, and it was also a Tuesday. So I can't help thinking of that morning.

@ MerryNoel: :???:

I agree...Weather here was very similar this morning to that day.....Have been praying for all the victims and their families through the day xo

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

As was mentioned several times up-thread, it's 9/11 again. Hard to believe it's been 11 years. May God bless all of those who have been affected by terrorism on that day, and beyond.

We had a council meeting last night, and it only lasted 20 minutes...my kind of meeting! Things have been going well for our city lately. I've been working to improve relations with the county officials. The last mayor seemed to delight in antagonizing the county, but I can't find a reason to continue that line of thinking. They seem to be genuinely relieved that the admin meetings aren't degrading into arguments, and it's paying off with additional funds and road work crews in Bellville. I believe if our city works together with the county, we can get things done that benefit the citizens of Bellville. We're all county residents, anyway!

Ah, well. Enough small town politics. I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

You know the old saying..."You can catch more flies with sugar than......" Arguing loses its effectiveness if antagonism enters in......xo Glad all is going well for you ! xo

With plantar faciitis before you get out of bed in the morning you should stretch your foot as much as you can bear. After standing up or walking for long periods of time ice it down. The doctor told me to freeze a bottle of water and roll it back and forth on the floor under your foot. Get some good insoles or arch supports also, and I learned the hard way, don't buy cheap shoes, they made my foot feel worse. They may cost more upfront, but they last a bit longer down the road. My ruptured ligament was a mix from all the things, not taking care of it, heel spurs, and a very busy day that led to the rupture.

This must have been excruciating !! Oh My........So glad it is better !! xo
