I just found out I am making dinner for our church friends tonight!! at this point brandi is doing good to get to the table..so its up to me to make dinner..I think I will make chicken and rice with mashed potatos and rolls and beans..I know it's too starchy but I am not a chef and sure don't want to try any new recipes on new folks! this is our sunday school class btw.lol Please pray yall!:)

We both got word from our offices to use our own discretion as to whether we feel safe going in tomorrow. We'll see what it looks like in the morning. I wouldn't want to go in and get stranded by downed trees or something ... And I wouldn't want Mr. to go in and be stranded if the trains stop running ...

ok, I have heard of this a couple of times, what exactly do you do on this day?
We are having a lot of wind too, the tail end of hurricane sandy is supposed to arrive starting tomorrow night.

I have been really keeping an eye on this storm all week and last night I decided to play it safe.I spent the day yesterday prepping my grandfathers house, got the generator all set up and ready to go at his house, put stuff away, covered up his woodpiles with tarps, caulked and sealed his roof/ house and I installed a new electrical transfer switch/ central station at his house, so that it's just a snap for the generator to take over in case his power fails.

After that, I got home to my house yesterday evening and then got my house ready for this storm, I took down all my Halloween decorations that I put up last week, brought in all my deck furniture, got a spare propane tank for the grill, test fired the generator, filled up all the vehicles with gas and cut the lawn; Wheewwww.... I figure it's better to be prepaired, safe, then be sorry....

Now I'm at work, getting my hours in, just in case I cannot make it in Monday or Tuesday....

Kind of a slow week but if Hurricane Sandy makes it hard for the hosts to get there on Monday or Tuesday they will switch to their Christmas day programming.
 
The Christmas open house tonight was very nice!!! I bought a snowman ornament for my friend that says "Happiness is wintery days, cherished friends, and sweet memories" - it's really cute! :) And I bought a few sparkly garland type ornaments that can be used to fill in bare spots in your tree. I had some already, now I have more! :grin: Christmas music was playing in the store...people everywhere. It was just fun! Oh, and I bought a candle called "First Snow" - it's By Sidney Candle Company. I have it burning now. It smells awesomely Christmassy!!! If my favorite show "revenge" wasn't on right now, I would be watching something Christmas!!
