If I had ANY Thomas Kinkade painting, I would keep it up year round, even if it were a Christmas one. If you don't think your mom would do that, though, I say give it to her at Thanksgiving.

Hi all! I miss talking to you guys. I am going to play catch up, but first I have a question. I could really use opinions since it is Christmas-related!

For one of my mom's Christmas gifts, I ordered her a Thomas Kinkade Christmas painting. It will be coming early next week. My concern is that if I give it to her on Christmas, she won't be able to enjoy it. Since we take our decorations down not long after New Years, she would only have it up for a week or so before we take decorations down. When do you think it would be appropriate to give her the gift so she can enjoy it? Some friends of mine told me on Thanksgiving since that is the day my family starts our all-out decorating. Others told me early December, and others mid-December.

I would love your opinions! Thanks :) :)

Oooo. I can hardly wait for you to tell us about it!

Good afternoon!! I wanted to drop in to say "HAPPY PINES DAY!!!" I wanted to stay awake the other night to ring in the season, but I couldn't keep my peepers open!!! Then yesterday came & went & here we are!!! It's the 1st Pines Day of the Season! Woo Hooo!!

I am off work tomorrow, going shopping with my neighbor ladies. I am really looking forward to it!!!

Last night I went shopping & bought all the ingredients to make MerryCareys parent's recipe for Fruit Cake! I have never made one before & I don't know that I have ever even tasted one. But here I go....

Jenn... I know this may not be the popular one, but I say Christmas Day. I am not sure about your Mom but if I received a painting of his I wouldn't take it down no matter the theme.

Thanks for remembering the Spugs on their big 100th!

I've tried Google and eBay at different times, but no luck. It could be that none of them survived, because if kids or grandkids found one in a drawer decades later, no one would know what SPUG meant, so no one would want to save it and wear it. There are pin and badge companies online that could recreate the pin, but I know from experience that they usually require a minimum order of 100, which runs into a few hundred dollars---too much.

If we knew 100 people who'd pay a few bucks apiece for a Spug pin ... nah.

hmmmmm, I see a plot being masterminded here....

I believe you meant, at "The Pines", did you not??? And binger, this one is WAY better than my "shispering pines" or the "fired twinkies..."

LOL!!! I thought the same thing!!! LOL

I agree with you SW I would put that picture up and never take it down, but I think Christmas Day.

I have not eaten much this past week, but my meds were changed today. So for lunch I fixed red pepper, smoked gouda soup. It is SO GOOD for store-bought. It is made by Campbell's. The pepper is not a hot pepper, just red bell.

Enjoy yourself tomorrow! Sounds like a lot of fun!

I wish my sisters would have done the Elf on the Shelf thing. It would have been a blast.

I think it is going to be so much fun, too. It will be such a great tradition. I have so many ideas, thanks to Pinterest. That site is amazing.

wow, if I got one it would be on the wall all year, his work is beautiful!

I would wait until Christmas, but then again, Thanksgiving works if you think she will only want it up for the season. Not very helpful am I.

I want to go to a Christmas parade!!! We have to wait until the first Friday night of December.

Good Luck to EA!!!!!!

Thank you! I will tell her. It's actually Hollidaysburg's - she has 3 this coming week. She is excited. I always love Hollidaysburg's parade - they are always the best.

I wouldn't go to early. So I'll say mid December.

I agree with Made, Jennifer. She can still enjoy the gift for a good while, plus it will still be somewhat close to Christmas. Do whatever feels right in your heart though.

I wasn't helpful either, Star. I pretty much said the same thing!

Jennifer,
Don't forget to tell us what you decide. Which painting did you purchase? He did two or three paintings of my hometown, Christmas Town, USA (McAdenville, NC). I would LOVE to get those!
