I want to thank everyone for all your encouragement about starting the methotrex*te. I know you all want the best for me and after a lot of consideration and reading, I am considering not starting this med. It is a DANGEROUS drug. It is notorious for causing liver problems, mouth sores, nausea, tumors and hair loss. Now, I want to get improvment in my psoriatic arthritis but not if it means I am going to be sicker which it sounds like I would be. I was on this drug once before orally and got sicker than a dog. The doctor yesterday told me that the injectable form has less side effects. I don't know about that after some of the things I read. Does any of this make sense to anyone ??? I am very scared of this drug........At any rate I feel there is no hurry to start this and I plan to hang on to my prescription and talk to the doctor further and express my concerns. Maybe there is something else....I hope.....
IANAD, but here's my take on it. For legal purposes they're probably listing every possible side effect. Nobody's going to suffer from them all. Some will experience one or two side effects. Some people will be bothered by the side effects, others will find them minor. Side effects will also vary with the dosage---unless you have a massive dose, you may not be bothered. Give it a try, don't expect the worst, and see what happens. If you're bothered by side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Getting something else before you try may not be the answer---any drug will have potential side effects.
