I love the growing excitement in my house. The girls know it is one week away and they are about to jump out of their skin.

That is exciting! It sounds like a really magical time for them!

As Wayne mentioned I am sick with a cold and never made it here on MMC yesterday. My 3 year granddaughter was so sweet when she came over yesterday. She had her teddy bear with her and she told me, "Grandma my teddy bear will make you all better" then she laid the teddy bear right next to me. I think it actually worked for that moment! Sure gave me a big smile.

Last week I had a day of feeling sick to my stomach and she brought over a Santa that I have that plays Christmas music and said, "Grandma, I will play you a song to make you better". She sat the Santa next to me, pressed the button and the music began to play. She said, "You should feel better now". Wow, she is a miracle worker!!! I see a future for her in spreading cheer to all! :D She is just so darn sweet!!! Her brothers are the same way with compassion.

I haven't read a thing on here yet, my granddaughter will be here in a few minutes. I think another day with my granddaughter and my cold should be completely gone! :wink: I will try to get on here later to catch up!

P.S. Take a look at the Blossoms thread. There have been quite a number of really nice photos added by several of our illustrious members.
Check them out.....and be inspired!

Inspired to join the fun and post photos, I hope!

It's funny how different regions have different accents, even though I am in the same state as Boston, where most people tend to drop their "R's" at the end of words, in the western part of the state we do not have that accent.

Mr. was raised in Brookline. The rest of his family have Kennedy accents, but Mr. doesn't!

Brad, Merrymistletoe and xmas365, Every once in awhile someone will say to me, "where did you get that accent from, I can't figure it out?"

Here I am in Maryland and sometime back, I went to visit a friend in Toledo Ohio and his friends asked me "where are you from Georgia?" lol... (true story!!!)

I'm a mix of Baltimore (ok, ok, I know Brad, techinically, it is below the Mason Dixon line, lol), also, a slang from being raised on a farm by my grandparents and a Virginia accent from my stay in LittleCreek Virginia for 6 years....

Just add a couple of beers to the mix, and look out here it comes out....my wife say's at times, she thinks she married the biggest redneck in Perry Hall, Maryland...lol... I just had to poke some fun at myself!

I also grew up in Maryland, where we have no accents :wink:. We went on vacation in New England when I was a teen, and everyone we met commented on our "Southern accents." These days, I live in New England, but I haven't picked up the local accent. When I'm feeling "down home" or visit back in Maryland, I sound more like my family---little bit of Southern flavor.

Have fun with your granddaughter, CAH. Those stories are really sweet. I'm sure she's all prepared to "make you feel better" again!

Back to work today ... bleh. Oh, well. Four workdays until the weekend, then it's Christmas Eve!

CAH, you have the sweetest grandchild!

we need to chat it up.. we could get to 40,000 by Dec 31st,,

yabbaaaaa

Quality, not quantity ... and we have the quality angle in the bag!

i always sounded extremely southern even for these parts. my hubby's from New Jersey, so as we have been together my grammar has gotten a bit better. i have noticed when i'm around others from here i talk more like i used to. we have a lady @ work whose from Colorado & she makes fun of my talk & some of my sayings. oh well, she moved here....i didn't move there huh?

What's really funny is, my dad was from Buffalo, NY, about as "yankee" as it gets. He met my mom while stationed at Ft. Stewart near here. Her grandaddy told her that, although Mickey is a good boy, yankees and southerners just can't live together. LOL

Everytime I visit dad's family, they want me to talk for them. And when I say "yes, ma'am" or "no, sir", they nudge each other, saying "he called me ma'am, tee hee!"

Good morning everyone!

Only one week until Christmas. The countdown continues to move along and the Christmas Season is nearing its peak. We've waited all for year for this and it shall be quite exciting!

Speaking of exciting, I only have three more days of work until I fly home for Christmas. The forecast - as of right now - appears as if I may be stuck in Toronto due to a decent amount of snowfall in Sault Ste. Marie, but we shall see. I'm really hoping that the snow isn't that bad. At least they're not forecasting for freezing rain!

In other exciting news, I had my first Active Release Therapy appointment last night. It was expensive, but the doctor seemed concerned and honest about my potential recovery. He said that he couldn't guarantee an immediate improvement, but he could help to clear everything and I could be on the field again by February. I must say, after one appointment, the tightness in my knee/patellar tendon is much less than yesterday. Maybe there is, indeed, a recovery in sight. We shall see.

Weather-wise in Ottawa, it looks a lot like Christmas. It's a little wet, but from inside it looks really fluffy. Again, as long as it all subsides and allows me to return home without (much) of a delay on Thursday, I will be happy.

Well, I should return to work. I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday. Only one more week until Christmas Day. Yes, in seven days we will be gathered around our beautiful Christmas Trees and celebrating another magical moment with our families and loved ones. Until then, keep enjoying the Christmas Season and Merry Christmas!

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I went shopping with Nancy and the kids yesterday afternoon, and we got a few things done. I had to get something for Nancy from the kids, and I never get to go shopping without her, so we had to be sneaky. But, Elizabeth reported on a very nice sweater that Nancy told her she really loved, so Jacob and I (ducking among the clothing aisles, getting some curious looks) grabbed it, bought it, and hid it in the car before Nancy finished her shopping. Success!

7 days from now! Woo hoo!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

~~~ Positive Vibe Wave !!! ~~~
RJD recorded it and I think they are going to try to put the call ins on the next podcast that should be out in the next day or two.
Hopefully the check I sent him is enough to have mine erased though.
Not a chance that ANYBODY recorded (I'm only through the third hour in checking) gets taken out!, including YOU, Buck-O! BTW, I squandered your 75 cents on a peppermint chocolate Tootsie Pop! Tis the season, you know!
Good morning, Christmas family !!
It is just 1:16 a.m. here but since I went to bed at 9:00 I am now awake.
Sorry about such a negative post earlier. There are some things going on and it all just gets so overwhelming. MY husband spoke with PERS, where his retirement is through, and they again confirm that I am being cut from the health insurance as of January 2014 AND he is going to have to pay more for his too. We cannot afford both out of his pension and he doesn't want me to drop my insurance. I am going to have to for the sake of surviving. I know it is a year away but a year goes so FAST. Not having a plan in place is very scary especially since I am considered to have a pre-existing condition (asthma).
On top of the above, my sister's little dog, Emily who is the sweetest little girl is in the hospital with a problem with her neck. It could be serious and I am so frightened. I love her like my own and my sister and Wes have been through so much with Wes having had a second heart attack this past year.
I also found out that work is likely to be VERY skimpy next week, which I sort of figured. Having done this job for a while it is common sense to figure a lack of work when everyone is on vacation as many doctors offices often are. It is just one more thing on top of all the rest that is worrying me.
However, when I woke up few moments ago I turned on AMC and lo and behold, A Christmas Carol is on and it is the version I used to watch with my dear parents and family when I was growing up !!!! It is the 1938 version with Reginald Owen. It brings back so many memories and watching it is like visiting with an old friend. The appearance of Jacob Marley used to terrify me in this movie but My mother and my sister would always hover closer to me when we were watching and that made it okay......When I was older of course I figured out that this is just a movie and ghosts don't usually appear like this ! (Yes, I believe in ghosts, i.e., spirits)
Anyway, sorry I was so grumpy earlier. If you could all say a prayer for little Emily I would really appreciate it.
Have a great and wonderful evening/morning, dear Christmas family. You are all wonderful and I love you all xo
(((HUGS))) to all ESPECIALLY:
Ella, Harlowe, Snowball, Gomez, Ophelia, Sidney, Alex, Merlin, Snickers, Victor, Daisy, Diva, Mickey, Palmer, Mouse, Bo, Chico, Meca, Alvin, Charlie, Gary, Bailey, Jerrold, Irving, Martha, Uncle Julio, Missy, Scooby, Sasha, Jacob, Cracker, Bunny B, Penny, Pocket, LuLu, Bear-Bear, Stripey, Holly, Fate Puppy (London,) Buster, Missy, Baby, Santa's Polar Bears, Sangria, O'Malley, Beau, Taz, Zema, Rizzo, Bella, Happy, Sam, Guinness, and all furkids everywhere xoxoo
Keeping you, your husband & Emily in my prayers, CM3. Sending support & hugs. Keep the faith! xo
This is adorable !! Can I adopt both please ?? xo
I think you'd be the PERFECT canine Mom, they'd fall in love w/ you instantly!! :smile:
Good morning, MMC!
Happy one week until Christmas day!!!!
This is going to sound weird, but I am really sad! I feel like the weeks since Thanksgiving have flown by and I just want to enjoy the Christmas season more! College and work has kept me so busy during the week that I don't think I watched nearly as much movies as last year. Plus, with my finals being so late this year, I have no time to bake Christmas cookies. I usually bake this week and some of the last week, but since I have been studying so much I haven't had a chance. This year Christmas is approaching faster than ever. I feel like I close my eyes and a week has passed! I get the major Christmas blues on the 26th, so I don't want it to come this quickly and then be over!
Anyways - I have to leave to go take my first final this morning. I had one online this weekend and I did reallly well (96%) but I needed a 98% to get an A in the class. I missed an A in the class by two measly points and I am so disappointed in myself. Teachers of course won't bump you either because if they do it for you, they have to do it for everyone else. That's fine because my grade is all on me at the end of the day.
I hope you all have a good day at work/school/home, wherever you may be. Drive safe if you're on the roads! It has been non-stop rainy since last night so I dread driving to college.
Talk to you all soon!
Good luck w/ your next final!! You'll do great!
And I hope that the season kicks into slow mode, too. It's gone by way too fast.
As Wayne mentioned I am sick with a cold and never made it here on MMC yesterday. My 3 year granddaughter was so sweet when she came over yesterday. What wonderful & thoughtful grandchildren that you have!! I am glad that they are lifting your spirits!
Get well soon!!
Merry Christmas to you, as well!!
Btw, I was trying to respond to your post [from yesterday] last night, but was having trouble on the countdown. So, I'll do it here..
I was going to tell you how ecstatic I was on Sunday when we clinched the division!! My husband is a Bear's fan, so I had to give him a bit of a hard time!
Have a great time @ the game on Sunday!! I have some family who will be there, too.
What city are you from in Wisconsin? My husband & I are from the La Crosse area. GO PACK, GO!!!
