I try to be here everyday also, whether it be early in the a.m. or right before bed, I make sure to at least read the Countdown, and post my song a day. I think I can count on one hand (not counting power outages) the days I have not been here. I love this place, and coming here is the reason I want a job in the Christmas business, i.e owning a Christmas store. I have found my calling by coming here.

You are indeed very dedicated!

This place found me when I was suffering a very bad case of Post-Christmas Blues 3 years ago, and I have been hooked since. Out of all the Christmas forums I have joined, this is home.

I think it is time for a road trip to your place. Everybody board the Lear! Merry Carey is making Chex Mix, one of my favorites.

We can seat up to three guests in the screening room ... first come, first served! The rest will have to be SRO. cheesy

The Chex mix that's on the box these days is not the original recipe. My personal recipe is a hybrid between that and the recipe my mom clipped and saved in the 1960s. Time for fresh Worcestershire sauce and Lawry's Seasoned Salt!

Hubby and I are getting ready to go to Chico. We will do some grocery shopping for our dinner this weekend/New Year's Eve and Day. On the menu: Turkey and all the trimmings (stuffing, crockpot giblet gravy with fresh sage, and cranberry sauce), Mother's peas, mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes, roasted cauliflower (using a new recipe that I tried on Canadian Thanksgiving), corn, cole slaw, deviled eggs, refrigerator rolls, pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, and pumpkin-orange cheesecake. Just typing this has made me hungry!!! TTYL

The next sound you hear will be ... my growling stomach.

Thank you.
Just 3 more postings left for the year on it and my goal will be complete. I am trying to think of a new project for 2013 to keep Christmas going each day.

Me too ... I don't have the discipline to do an "every day" something, but I want to think of some more things I can make/produce and share during the trip toward next Christmas.

MMC truly does keep my post Christmas blues away!

I had started some game threads, but I am guilty and don't even post in them everyday.

You're very talented and such a blessing to this site...thank you to continue to share that with us and everyone else!

Good afternoon,

We went to see "Wreck It Ralph" this morning, it was the BEST movie I have seen in a long time, I cannot wait until it comes out on DVD now. Just enjoying vacation day #4 now watching White Christmas. We have my grandparents Christmas celebration tomorrow, looking forward to that.

How many of you are still listening to Christmas music?

We are still going strong, we still have one radio station that is playing Christmas until Jan. 6, and my MP3 player is loaded with 500+ Christmas songs. Music Choice is also helping. I am loving it.

Have a great afternoon.

I have been trying to do more games lately, when I joined, myself, CM3, Made and George Broderick kept those games ticking, it was easy to do over 100 posts a day in games alone. I don't have the time now to do that, but it is still fun.

Very nice of you and they will remember that forever! My dad was the only one who made me laugh when I suffered a "traumatic heartbreak" when I was a teen. I cried all day, stayed with my best friend all day who was consoling me but I just could not bring myself to smile at all. By evening my dad came home from work and saw I was sad. He has always been a comical guy and just would not give up being silly that until I finally busted out laughing. I will never ever forget that! I was sad that whole entire day until he got home. Well, I was just starting to feel better then my ex calls me up and wants to get back together with me! Lol!

Your dad sounds like a really great wonderful guy !! xo I would love to meet him as well as you !!! xoxo

I got so much sleep! Took a 1 and half hour nap yesterday evening and slept nearly 10 hours last night. It was nice!

My daughter plans to come over for a visit today so I am looking forward to her coming over. I rarely get to just sit down and visit with her. It's usually her or her husband dropping off and picking up the kids so they can go to work. She is just so tired to just hang around and I can't blame her. She is a teacher and on vacation right now so she is just going to come over and relax! I think we might play some games today!

I hope you all have a Merry Day!

I hope you had a great visit with your daughter ! xo

I was happy to hear that the Today Show reported a poll of when people take down there Christmas decorations. Here are the results:

41% Leave them up until January 6
30 "something" % until January 1 (I couldn't remember the exact figure)
only 17% Day after Christmas

There was 1% said leave them up all year
The rest said it all comes down by Valentines Day

I am glad the high percentage said keep them up that long!!! I figured that it would be a lot more that took them down the day after.

Once again among "misfits" I am still a misfit. I leave my tree up until the end of January xo

Yes, indeedy---that's what New Year's Eve is made for! We'll probably be watching the big screen throughout the weekend and into New Year's Day, both DVDs and 16mm film. With so much to choose from (including all the new DVDs we got for Christmas), it's impossible to say what we'll wind up watching, but we often pull out "Pocketful of Miracles" around this time.

I'm an "until January 6th," myself. Except I usually take my desktop tree home from the office before the New Year's holiday. But this morning the CFO said, "Aren't you supposed to leave them up until January 6th?" So I said, "I'll do that!" I've got a little tree in my little barn, too.

After New Year's, though, it gets me a little sad seeing the trees, after the rest of the world has put Christmas out of their minds (and hearts, it seems). So the 6th is the right time for me to put them away and let them recharge their magic for the next season.

I forgot all about Pocket Full Of Miracles !!! I have it on DVD....I think I am going to have to watch it !! xo

I just realized---if Seawaters retires, we'll have a full-time pilot for the Learjet! :???:

We're supposed to get a few inches of snow tomorrow. It'll look beautiful, but it'll gum up getting around tomorrow. Gotta get ingredients for Chex mix for my New Year's Eve movie munching!

I wish I could join you and Mister for the movie party - That would be so cool !! xo

It is easy to do when you spend time with people of like mind who share in our day-to-day happenings. I think the key is the way we respect, care for and appreciate each other. And we care about others who are not necessarily on this site, as evidenced by Santa's Sleigh. How many people, like Merry Carey, do you know who would crochet an afghan with her own yarn and donate it to such a worthy cause? That is the Christmas Spirit in action.

I agree with this 100,000,000 percent !!! I never was able to belong to a group before. I was always the LAST kid picked to be on someone's team. I don't feel that way here !!! Merry Carey is just an angel, that has to be the only explanation for her sweetness and kindness xo

I wanted to share a reading from the Advent and Christmas Seasons booklet that we get at church just before Advent. In the selection for Christmas Day entitled "Mary's Christmas," I read:

"Think back to Christmas 41. Not 1941, Christmas in the year 41 A.D., 1,971 years ago. It must have been a lonely day for Mary, who would have been in her late 50s. She must have missed her son. She must have missed her husband who was long since dead. No matter how many of her relatives may have been there in that little village of Nazareth, it was probably lonelier for her than some other days...just as Christmas today is often lonelier than some other days for people who have lost their wife or husband, people who are divorced, people who don't have any family to speak of. For whatever reason, Christmas can be a lonely day."

I really thought a lot on this reading and just could not get it out of my mind. It really made me appreciate all of you that much more. Thanks for sharing your Christmas with me. Even though I was not alone at Christmastime, I still had a lonely corner of my heart, thinking about those whose loneliness overwhelms them. Take care, my Christmas friends. No more sad talk from me!

Thank you for sharing this Seawaters.....((HUGS)) xo
