I'll have to get the John Wayne ornament. I see it is from the movie "The Searchers." That is my favorite movie of all time. Our son, Ethan, is named after the character Wayne plays in the move, "Ethan Edwards". I saw a PBS special a few years ago where Steven Spielberg said "The Searchers" was one of the best American movies ever filmed. Wayne is amazing in the movie.

When I was a child, showing my age here, lots of western movies were being made. During the summer we went to a drive-in movie most Saturday nights. My parents had an agreement that we saw every new western released for Dad and every Elvis movie for Mom. I still have a love of westerns but not so much the Elvis movies.

The Searchers is a great movie! Very cool that your son is named after the lead! The girl the Searcher's is based on, Cynthia Ann Parker, is buried in Oklahoma by her son, (half Comanche) Chief Quanah Parker. The real story is kind of sad. She finally made it back to her family, but wanted to be with the Comanches and fell into depression.

I wish I could have seen the Duke on the big screen! These days, they just don't make many westerns. My favorite Duke movie is "El Dorado." But I love most of the ones he made!

Still off work so ill so today i'm spending my day watching QVC's Christmas in July. Every year I wish I could buy stuff off their shows but I just prefer going into a shop itself at Christmas time and buying my decs then, always makes me feel much more festive

I hope you are better soon!

So glad I found a whole forum full of my kind of people!

Hope you all have a fantastic day !

I hope you have a fantastic day, too, Christmasstar!

I woke up this morning around 6:30, and the house was warm. The A/C was off. Oh nonononono. After crawling around in the attic, I found that the emergency drain pan under the A/C was full of water. It's drain was stopped up, and it has a float switch that turns off the A/C if it gets full, to keep you from ruining your ceiling. So, I got the drain opened and the A/C started working again.

Glad to hear you nipped that in the bud. That happened to the A/C unit in our room when we went on vacation this year. Only the drain pan overflowed all over the carpet and soaked Mr.'s suitcase, which was on the floor near the unit. They moved us to another room, and we had to head to Sears the next day for a new suitcase. (Happily, the suitcase contents were all in plastic bags and stayed dry.)

I wish I could have seen the Duke on the big screen!

Time to start saving up for a video projector, Ryan!

Hope the cough goes away soon! Glad she is doing much better!!

xx

:pumpkin:

I agree, this cool front is AWESOME!! I hope you got the issues with your phone fixed! Have a great day, snowflake!!! {{{HUGS}}} for you and Harlowe!

Home again, moms laser surgery went well and she is now home again too and resting. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

We had fun going through some thrift stores, all I found this time was a great buy on Canadian Geographic and Our Canada magazines for only 10cents each. These are excellent magazines full of good articles and stories.

My brother changed the oil in my van and fixed a few things, it is running smooth again. I love my brother!

I'm glad your mom's surgery went well! Praying for a quick recovery for her. It is funny that you mention Can. Geo. mags - I bought a bunch of Nat'l Geo. mags at the local GW the other day for .39 each - they were from the WWII era and are in excellent shape! I'm glad your brother was able to fix your van, but I'm sure you would love him even if he couldn't. Take care, Christmasstar!

Thanks, I'm sure we will!

It's usually late in July, and it's an event that's meant to attract families, and the admission prices are friendlier than for the MLB games. You could probably still get tickets for this Saturday.

The ballpark does give you chills---it's the sense of history, the great players and plays that have happened there for a hundred years, and the millions of fans who have cheered and booed and eaten hot dogs and enjoyed a day rooting for the Sox. It's a great place to be on a spring or summer afternoon.

Tiger Stadium was like that - truly awesome! Have fun at Fenway!

Good evening. I am having issues with my Internet today and its making it very difficult to catch up with all of the posts. I got to read a few though and I will be sending up prayers for all that need them, my thoughts are with all of you.
Thank you for my daughters get well wishes too. Unfortunately she is worse tonight so it doesn't look like she will make it to the beach house this week. She saw the doctor today and we are waiting for a couple of test results but the doctor went ahead and started her on antibiotics.
And speaking of antibiotics, Maggie will take her last dose tomorrow. The poor thing is still coughing so I need to call the veterinarian to see what the next step is.
I took this of my puppies today while they were keeping cool in my daughters room

Good afternoon everyone. Hope all my fellow Christmas Fanatics been having a great day. Today at work been off and on busy for us in the IT office with system issues effecting some Honda Lines. SO hopefully it does not happen again but at least were ready to fix it again if it does. Poor harder still not able to shake that cough she has but she is at least in good sprits, and now only seems to have the most issue when she is trying to run around to much.

Thanks again to Jeff today for getting me fixed up back on the boards. Tried changing my email address and somehow back end system didn't like that change but he was able to be me back and running again today.

I eat chicken but I prefer white meat, same thing is true with turkey. I'll eat the dark meat if it's pulled off the bone and used to make something else, just not straight. I eat hamburger but can't do it a lot because of my gout. Same thing with beef roast. I eat most pork products but I'm not a huge fan of Ham.

I am a picky eater, too! I do not like salty, bitter foods as the tastes are overpowering to me when normal to others; allergic to pork; not a fan of beef, although will eat the occasional burger; prefer seafood, but too expensive; will eat chicken in Chinese dishes, but not wings or Southern fried. The smell of popcorn and the sight of gravy will make me sick to my stomach - odd, I know, but I have very good reasons for both!!!

Good afternoon, MMC!

Beautiful out!

Have a MERRY day!!!

Happy Pines Day!!!

Neat story about Cynthia Ann Parker. It was great to see the Duke on a big screen. Except for some of the old 'B" westerns, I have most of his movies. After "The Searchers", "Hondo", "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon", & "Rio Bravo" are my favorites.

I don't do salty either. I never put salt in anything I cook unless I'm baking.

Hmm, if we all have a get together, it might be interesting trying to decide on a place to go eat!!!!
