We got the results and my mom's condition is back. She has inflammation but the specialist is confident that the steroid medication he put her on will get rid of it. She has to see the doctor sometime next week. Hopefully he doesn't try to switch medicines because she has been doing well with the one she is on for her condition. This could just be a flare-up. As long as the steroids take away all of the inflammation, she should be in the clear. Not the news we were hoping for but at least it seems like there is an easy fix!

Good WET Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

It has rained constantly for the last 30 hours, and it's not supposed to stop until tomorrow evening. We haven't had this much rain in a while.

Bernie called last night saying he was sick, so I opened the store this morning. He came in at 7:30 to relieve me so I could come to work, but he said he felt much better. I hope so!

My brother and I worked on the car last night for while. I bought new racing-style gauges for the dash, so we were working on placement. Fun stuff (but expensive!).

I thought I would shake things up a little bit with a new avatar. I just realized that, in the almost 5 years I've been here, I've never changed my av.

Good chilly morning, Christmas friends. It is supposed to be in the 70s a little later this week. I just wish it would stay chilly. Not much planned for today. I am going to make some minestrone soup in a bit. Our local grocery store makes the best Italian sausage. I would love to go to that new restaurant with Made. If we had not had the rest of the fried rice last night, I would be tempted to have some dirty rice or gumbo myself.

Happy Fat Tuesday Everyone!!!!!! It's going to be a decent day with a high around 42 degree's. The winds have also died down which should really help. I don't have much going on today. I think I'm going to head to a restaurant called Papa Roux's for lunch. They are unveiling there new beignet's, voudoux coffee, and gumbo today. Yum. Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!!!!

It's KINKLING DAY in Frederick County, MD! Oh, how I miss 'em. Another year, I should find a bakery or local organization to send me some ...

(The ones on the right are plain; the ones on the left are coated in powdered sugar. Messy, but oh so delicious!) Local bakeries, supermarkets, ladies' auxiliaries, etc. bake them and sell them. It's a Shrove Tuesday thing.

I just dropped LC off for his first day at his new preschool, he didn't want to let go of me but then he warmed up and let me go. Nothing really planned for today, just some resting and maybe a nap, I slept horribly last night.

I used to live in Carroll County, which is right next to Frederick County and I never heard of this, I guess I didn't get out enough. :lol:

Kinklings are practically unknown outside of Frederick County, so I'm not surprised you hadn't heard of them. They seem to be cousins to fastnachts and beignets.

I wonder if a bakery would ship half a dozen to Massachusetts---? I haven't had one since the '90s ...

It's great!!!! It's been open for about 8 years now but they just unveiled a new menu today. The beignets are so good and you get a huge basket of them and your voudoux coffee for $5. The new shrimp and andouille gumbo recipe was good too. It's a bit spicer than before. That's okay though because they have also gotten rid of pepsi and started carrying soda's from a local brewer. The cherry vanilla cream is out of this world!!!!

Made-from-scratch minestrone is in the crockpot and already smells so good. I bought some really good sourdough bread to make garlic bread with. I normally don't make a lot of desserts, but I think I will make an apple crisp made with Cracker Barrel fried apples. Who's coming for dinner?
