Good Morning everyone,

I'm up and about early today, I've been sort of a slacker with being off work recouping, so I have not been getting out of bed untill 8:30-9:00 everyday day, mostly because trying to sleeping with these sutures in my leg is a bugger. Today, 5:30; I have some early doctors appointments this morning, the first one at 9....

I called my boss yesterday morning and asked him if they missed me or needed me and he so nope... (geeez thanks) no seriously, he said we had no work so I don't need to rush back (I thought that was pretty cool of them to say that), with a oh by the way you will have to use your sick/ vacation time....lol

Well, I hope everyone has a good day today, at least there's one good thing about today, It's Wednesday, May 1st....(what's that, 197 days untill the Christmas season?)

I won the Lear jet fair and square, LOL! Just ask anyone here! I often use it to fly us anywhere there is a good meal. Some of our favorite stops are in Georgia for breakfast at Bernie's with Bradmac or Michigan for some soup and home-grown veggies with Meceka or Canada for some of Christmasstar's cakes or other dessert. All pets are welcome in the newly-renovated fur baby section. You are welcome to use it since it is so easy to fly. Ask Made to be your pilot only if you are brave. He like to do loopdy loops!

Oh what fun that would be! I have three teenage girls who are usually out and about doing there own thing. And my hubby never stops working. I could use the company!

Mayday! Mayday!

No, I'm not in trouble.
The fact is, another month has come and gone and we find ourselves at May 1st.
(Incredible. The year is a third through already!)

This is incredible, too:
Days to the Season: 196
Days to Christmas Day: 238
And if that doesn't wow you, perhaps this will -- we are TWO WEEKS away from the HALF WAY Milestone to Christmas Season 2013 as of today!
(Did that do the trick?)

Another cool one yesterday. Damp too.
Today should be more of the same, then a gradual warming trend is predicted.
We show 59 degrees here at this hour.

OK!
First 'Pines open house of the month and tonight's theme is "May I?"
Yes, it's a variation on "Simon Says" with Carl leading the group.
Also, for every visitor that says "may I" at the front door, there is an extra free fired twinkie and beverage of choice.
The door prize, of course, will go to the winner of the "May I" contest.
(Not sure exactly how Carl plans to run it, but it should be fun. That camel is a born entertainer.)

And with that anticipatory thought, I wish you all a Wonderful Wednesday.
See you at the 'Pines tonight!

At least it's one day closer to Christmas!!! Take care XmasTidings. What are you doing to pass the time?

I am skeptical. I don't know if I trust that crazy camel in this "May I" game. He's probably going to make many of us embarrassed! That Carl is certainly clever.

Star just reminded me to tell you that I bought the Michael Buble CD today, it's titled "To Be Loved".

And I do love it =]

Very happy & fun!! love his version of "You Make Me Feel So Young"!

thanks for the heads up on the cd. I will be sure to get it.

Good evening! We had beautiful weather today. The girls took advantage of it and washed their cars after school. Then they decided to treat themselves to sushi. So nobody ate my chicken soup. I don't know why I bother, lol. My husband didn't even eat dinner yet, he's putting another coat of spackle on the kitchen walls. Anyway, my 17 year old was just offered a hostess job at a local waterfront restaurant and she wants to take it. She is going to give up the frozen yogurt job that she has. Believe it or not she will get out of work earlier at the restaurant than she does at the frozen yogurt place. And I guess that's more important to her than getting lots of free frozen yogurt!

that's great ur daughter can find a job. My daughter has been every where w/ no luck yet. there's so many looking around here. Our unemployment rate is so bad, we have executives taking jobs in production or fast food restaurants. Nafta really did do us in-in the South!!!

How big of an area do you have for a garden, Made? What else besides tomatoes do you grow? Let me know when they are ripe--I just LOVE home-grown tomatoes!

oh girl, a mater san-mich (yes, spelled right) w/ Dukes mayo, yummmm!

Good morning everyone!

A beautiful morning in Ottawa. The sun is shining and temperatures are already 13 (mid 50s). And the temperature will only increase. Highs are forecasted into the mid 20s/70s. A perfect day!

Speaking of a perfect day, yesterday was also very enjoyable. Kim and I went to the Works for dinner. We both had delicious burgers. I actually wanted a homecooked meal for my birthday, but she spent so much time shopping (for my presents) that she was too hungry to make a meal! ...Maybe she'll make it tonight! Kim bought me a nice t-shirt, shorts and shoes. I needed each. I am thrilled with the gifts. Other than that, I received cards from my mom and grandmother. My grandma isn't doing very well, so she wasn't able to sign the card. That is slightly hard to take, but I'm glad she asked my mom to purchase me a card for my birthday. She will forever be very thoughtful!

I spoke with my dad for a quick moment last night. He's coming up on Friday. As I mentioned, it will be great to see him again. He seemed a little excited to come up. Both Kim and Mike are away for much of this weekend, so my dad and I will have plenty of time to hangout and do whatever.... such as watch plenty of hockey!

I should get back to work. I have acupuncture today and am very hopeful for a positive result. They have me trying everything! Have a great Wednesday, everyone. It's May. It's Pines Day. Not much more we could ask for!

Very cool Seawaters, count me in! And Molly, Maggie and Bella and Bentley too!!!

As you can probably tell by the time, I am not able to sleep. The wind is howling outside and sounds so scary and loud. I do not like wind like that. Not sure how much work I will feel like doing after having been up so long! Oh, well, c'est la vie, n'est pas? TTYT (Talk to y'all Today!!!

That wind sounds nerve wracking. Hope it passes soon so you can get some rest!

That stinks. Are any of her friends working? Maybe she could let them know she's looking and they could give her the heads up if a postion opens. I hope she finds something soon.

I'm glad to hear that you had a very happy birthday! Sending prayers for your Grandmother, she sounds very sweet.
Good luck with the accupuncture appointment!

We don't have a garden space yet, but we do plan to have one after the addition to the kitchen has been completed. I can hardly wait! You are so lucky, Made!

This takes me back ... my grandparents lived next door, and their entire backyard was a garden, bisected by a narrow path. They had been farmers until they sold their farm in 1946 and moved to town, but they never gave up the farm life. They grew all sorts of vegetables; the vegetable patches were bordered with beautiful flowers; they even had a green apple tree and a small arbor of Concord grapes in the backyard, and my grandfather glassed in an old shed and installed an oil heater so he could grow plants in his "greenhouse" throughout the winter.

Me, the first generation off the farm ... I can't grow a thing. Our flower edgings are barren, and I wouldn't presume to try to grow vegetables. Only one house plant in my care has ever survived and thrived (a Christmas cactus), yet my grandfather was the "plant whisperer" of the neighborhood. His back-porch windows were full of robust African violets that just wouldn't thrive for anyone else. A quiet man, but full of everyday wisdom.
