Congratulations and I'll make sure the EMT's are standing by!!!!
Just wanted to drop by to say "hello" on Pines day ~ Hump Day ~ May Day ~ Loyalty Day ~ so much to celebrate!!
Hope you are all having a great day. See you at the Pines!!!!
Good morning everyone!
A beautiful morning in Ottawa. The sun is shining and temperatures are already 13 (mid 50s). And the temperature will only increase. Highs are forecasted into the mid 20s/70s. A perfect day!
Speaking of a perfect day, yesterday was also very enjoyable. Kim and I went to the Works for dinner. We both had delicious burgers. I actually wanted a homecooked meal for my birthday, but she spent so much time shopping (for my presents) that she was too hungry to make a meal! ...Maybe she'll make it tonight! Kim bought me a nice t-shirt, shorts and shoes. I needed each. I am thrilled with the gifts. Other than that, I received cards from my mom and grandmother. My grandma isn't doing very well, so she wasn't able to sign the card. That is slightly hard to take, but I'm glad she asked my mom to purchase me a card for my birthday. She will forever be very thoughtful!
I spoke with my dad for a quick moment last night. He's coming up on Friday. As I mentioned, it will be great to see him again. He seemed a little excited to come up. Both Kim and Mike are away for much of this weekend, so my dad and I will have plenty of time to hangout and do whatever.... such as watch plenty of hockey!
I should get back to work. I have acupuncture today and am very hopeful for a positive result. They have me trying everything! Have a great Wednesday, everyone. It's May. It's Pines Day. Not much more we could ask for!
Please do! And while you're at it, join me for some BBQ. Wouldn't that be fun? I bet we could live it up.
Oh, yeah, we love visiting the Biltmore House. We went on Father's Day the last time. They let fathers and children in free, so we just bought tickets for Nancy & mom. Good deal!
How nice of them to offer to let you use your vacation time...LOL!
Good morning, MMC!!
Happy Pines Day!!!!!!
It dropped 30 degrees overnight! It's cloudy, rainy, and the snow starts this afternoon. We have a winter weather advisory out until tomorrow night. Up to 6 inches possible. Gulp. (It reached 82 degrees yesterday!)
My parents are supposed to be driving north to see Harlowe & I tomorrow afternoon, hope it doesn't affect their trip.
Adrian left this morning for a trip with his Dad. They're going to the Kentucky Derby, and they are both very excited!!
How is your day looking?
Well, I need to wash the bedding & get some course reviewing in.
Have a wonderful day, friends!!

You're right, I'm grateful for the home health nurses. Without them, mom would be in a nursing home. Now she gets to live at home. She even goes to Tony's a couple of days a week for a hotdog and ice cream.
Yeah, we don't have sick leave, but we can use temporary disability for surgery & emergency recuperation. Anything else goes to vacation.I am sure ever place is different, but I know when we're out for surgery, leave, babies, etc., vacation, sick, personal time all I have to burned until no time is left. We have no choice in the matter.
That stinks. Are any of her friends working? Maybe she could let them know she's looking and they could give her the heads up if a postion opens. I hope she finds something soon.
This takes me back ... my grandparents lived next door, and their entire backyard was a garden, bisected by a narrow path. They had been farmers until they sold their farm in 1946 and moved to town, but they never gave up the farm life. They grew all sorts of vegetables; the vegetable patches were bordered with beautiful flowers; they even had a green apple tree and a small arbor of Concord grapes in the backyard, and my grandfather glassed in an old shed and installed an oil heater so he could grow plants in his "greenhouse" throughout the winter.
Me, the first generation off the farm ... I can't grow a thing. Our flower edgings are barren, and I wouldn't presume to try to grow vegetables. Only one house plant in my care has ever survived and thrived (a Christmas cactus), yet my grandfather was the "plant whisperer" of the neighborhood. His back-porch windows were full of robust African violets that just wouldn't thrive for anyone else. A quiet man, but full of everyday wisdom.
Hello everyone. Not much is new here. I'm almost all the way done with school! Friday should be it, and I'm going to celebrate this weekend! I didn't want to attend the ceremony (boring, even if I am one of the ones graduating), so my family is throwing me a little get-together at my favorite BBQ place. I am going to celebrate big time. I'm eating very healthy this week, but Saturday will be my cheat day. I mean I'm going to go on one heck of a BBQ bender! The amount of ribs and hot links I will consume at that place will possibly make women turn away and cause children to cry. It will not be for the faint of heart!
Okay, sorry...just a little excited, if you can't tell. Ready for this school to be over and the fun summer to start.
I hope you all are having a great week! I might show up to the Pines tonight and start my bender a little early...[/QUOTE

sorry you've been so sick. I wish I could've been there for you doll!
I just picked one up this morning. The woman didn't want to give it to me. She said I had to be a "member" to get a book, they weren't for customers Another worker chimed in and told her to give me one. Unbelievable.
Jeese, some people!
maybe it is a sign that you are not supposed to cut the grass but let it be totally natural! Have Carl come over with his goat friends to eat it.GET THIS......especially Bradmac ( I'm sure he remembers my rants about it last year), we have purchased ANOTHER mower. Snapper 48" cut, we went out this a.m. to start cutting grass & the Snapper, the Cub Cadet, the push mower, & the weed eater would NOT start! AAAAHHHHH!
ok I feel better after screaming to the top of my lungs!
this happens every time my hubby is away & I try to cut grass. He went on alot of trips last year too!
My oldest boy couldn't start the weedeater so he got his brother to come start it & it worked.
my brother came over & determined those darn batteries are dead in both mowers & not sure what's going on w/ the push mower but it's very old.
3 steps forward & 2 steps back!
the desert trio has arrived at the Pines to sing any request you have tonight! Shipped in by Carl for our entertainment.
