Happy Mummsy Day to all the mothers here at MMC! Hopefully, it will be a cool and inviting day for everyone. Have a great celebration visiting with each other!

Tell your mom that the bossy school teacher told her to rest and she means it, LOL!!! I know she doesn't want to impose on anyone, but she really does need to do it for right now. It will pay off in the long-run, and she can always help someone else later on; but she really does need to do this. Tell her that that is advice from someone who has had a LOT of surgeries. I think I posted the other day that it is REALLY important that she rest with her leg elevated. Tell her to trust her doctor; she is paying for his advice and needs to heed it! Now is not the time to feel like she is imposing. I am positive everyone WANTS to help. This is one time, especially on Mother's Day and just a bit after surgery, that she needs to let herself be pampered! Take care of yourself, too, CAH!!! Both of you enjoy your special day!

Hey all! Busy week! A quick update on my mom. The day she got home from the hospital she felt terrible from the lack of sleep and nausea but the next day she felt so awesome she was trying to do chores around the house, laundry, changing the sheets on her bed and more in her wheelchair when she was suppose to stay in bed with her leg elevated! She has one of those external fixators on her leg, a big bulky thing she has to deal with for 4-6 weeks. There is NO REASON for her to do chores or cook! The whole time I was growing up my dad always shared that responsibility and NEVER expected my mom to do all that. My dad seems to love waiting on her too! She was doing all this while my dad and I were out running errands for her so we were not aware that she was misbehaving, she's a rebel! Ha ha. We got a call from her and she was bleeding and swelling at the surgery site. My dad rushed home, called the doctor and she was told to get to bed! They told her to stay there but my mom just cannot be still! She is good now. She told me she doesn't like ordering my dad around. I convinced her that he likes waiting on her. He has always been that kind of husband anyway, he LOVES doing things for her. I know what I witnessed with my mom and dad growing up, nothing but love! That is why they have been married for nearly 50 years! I also told her to call Wayne and I anytime and we will be right over if she needed us.

I am very behind on the forums. I hope I haven't missed any big news. We got a lot to do today so I will try to catch up on here sometime.

Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers! My mom thanks you too!

This sounds really good. I wonder if they would taste good with chocolate chips in them? I think I am going to bake those orange/white chocolate chip cookies tonight so we can have some to snack (snake) on in the car on our way to Disneyland!

I'm no Martha Stewart, Xmas. I can't even pretend to be ;)

I just use the Jiffy corn muffin mix & sprinkle cinnamon & sugar on the top before baking.

My Mom taught me that, they are delicious!!

I typed a similar note several times and the deleted it, so glad the bossy teacher spoke up! LOL
I agree with you she really needs to take care of herself first. I once did not listen to my doctor after major surgery and took 2 weeks longer to recover.
Many hugs to you and your mom, and have a happy mothers day!

brrrr what a chilly day for the middle of May! only gone as high at 3c (37f), furnace on all day.
But my kids have really blessed me today, roses, cards, dinner to come yet and money to get what ever I want.
Everyone is doing their own thing right now so I have some me time too. Thinking of ways to rearrange the living room....they should not leave me alone to long. LOL

It is great to hear from you, Brent. Do you have much of a commute in your new job? I can't remember if you told us what your hours are. Do you work a four- or five-day work week. You are right about getting up at 6:20. It isn't much of a difference, but it sure can be hard getting up even just a tiny bit earlier. I tend to hit the snooze button more often, LOL!!! Take care!

Good afternoon everyone!

It was a big and long week. As mentioned about a week ago, I started my new job this week. Waking up at about 6:20 is much harder than 7 am. The work is much different than my previous position. It's more production based than data entry and submissions based. I don't quite like it as much, but it is money and it will do until I find a secure and full time position elsewhere - or until my contract ends in September.

It was mostly a beautiful week in Ottawa. Temperatures often felt like summer. Leaves and flowers are nearing full bloom. Can't ask for much better scenery right now than Ottawa.

Moving back to my job, I can't post as much as I want to anymore. I'll do my best to post later in the day, but I cannot guarantee anything. Our computer access is very minimal and there is little to no downtime to do anything during breaks or free time. It's disappointing, but at least I'm making money.

Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend. Enjoy the Spring weather wherever you are!

Congratulations to your brother and SIL, Clare! Love the baby's name. What is her middle name? Have a great time spoiling her, LOL!

Afternoon everyone! Just popping in whilst tea is cooking! Hope this finds everyone well!!

Had quite a exciting week! my sister in law gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on thursday! they have named her Evie! Also last night I went to a baby shower for a work friend who is leaving us soon to go on maternity leave, was a fantastic night!!

Hope you all have a great day!! xx

News most excellent, Coach!!! Biggest of congratulations to Dr. Wifey! Wife, soon-to-be mommy, and now doctor! WOW! Have fun and take care!

From this point forward, I will no longer refer to Wifey as "Wifey"...I hereby declare that wifey's new name is.........(drum roll)........

Dr. Wifey!

Yep, that's right. In 2 hours and 15 minutes, Wifey receiver her doctorate....I've been walking around the house all morning, talking in my bugs bunny voice sayin...ag, what's up doc?

Graduation today, party tonight! See yall tomorrow!

WOW, what weather y'all are having!!! Sounds like fun!

I know what it is like to have to work because you need work not because you like what you are doing. Hang in there!

the weather here was great for a week too, now it is down to 4c (39f) and going down to 2c (35f) tonight. Someone even mentioned we may get some snow in the next day or so! We turned on the heat this morning.

I think I told y'all that I have not been sleeping well at night. I still could not sleep last night either (third or fourth night in a row) so I got up and set up the ironing board and iron and ironed all my new clothes and Hubby's clothes for our trip. Later this morning, we made a quick dash to Wal-Mart. I ended up buying a hat to wear at Disneyland, some slippers, an over-sized bag that I will use as a book bag, AND I bought four MORE new outfits! Again, I am spending money "like I got it," LOL!!! Tomorrow, I will finish my organizing of the TV room and some scrapbooking stuff, wash all the bed linens, and finish last-minute cleaning so we will return from vacation to a clean house. I will still have time to rest and relax before heading out to Anaheim Tuesday morning. We are leaving for Chico in a bit to pick up some last-minute stuff for our trip. I have my list all ready. We will be having a special Mother's Day dinner before returning home. I want to make sure to charge all our phones and computer-related "stuff" and have time to watch TV before bed. Have a great rest-of-the-afternoon and I will TTYL. I hope all the moms are having a great day!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you beautiful ladies no matter what your station in life may be. It is a day to remember our own precious mothers and grandmothers or any woman who has modeled strength and perseverance to us.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

BTW, I have Bing as my homepage. Everyday they have a different, and very cool, picture as the background. You guys need to visit the Bing homepage and see if it reminds you of anyone.
