I get to drive a school bus on Wednesday! They needed a substitute driver because one needed a day off so the Christian school called me!!! Yeah!!!
I will be fun to get behind the wheel again, even if it is just for one day.
We just got a notice that all of the local schools are closed tomorrow because of flooding over the roads. The rivers are bursting with water!

Here's quick shot of the field (not a pond, but a field) across the road from my office.

"Go West." So-so. But there was an Oscar-winning short subject on the DVD---"Quicker'n a Wink." Also watched "Charlie Chan in Reno."

Oh My Gos !! I love the Charlie Chan films !!! My favorites were the ones where Keye Luke played Number one son !!

Today is the day of my first ever jury duty!!! The only thing I worry about is it has been raining all weekend and flooding actually..we could get up to another 9 inches by tomorrow. And there are no places to park at our court house.. except for the lawyers and judges.uhhh I worry about the stupidest things. I guess I will just leave an hour early and sit in my car and watch it flood around me!lol have a great day everyone and stay safe in this weather!

Good luck with the jury duty Dog !!! xoxo Hope you don't get washed away ! xo

Whoa! Several years ago, our schools were closed for a week. Normally the flooding doesn't affect us like that, but a trestle broke and that was all she wrote! My MIL had to be "rescued" by airboat so she and her BF could go stay at a motel. Weird. Hasn't happened since, at least not for that length of time.

Good luck w/ jury duty, Dawg! I've never had it but I have heard it's a drag. Good luck on your family's move to Utah also. You are a very understanding hubby to be so supportive of Brandi. God bless you & your family.

good morning everyone! we had another laid back weekend. we watched "American Horror Story" on Netflix Saturday. uh, that was kind'a weird. Not sure what network it was originally on, but it was extremely questionable!!!! Hubby likes watching anything that doesn't have commercials & we don't have Tvo. I found myself feeling quite uncomfortable @ times throughout the shows.

the weather has been rainy w/ yesterday being our only dry, sunny day.

does anyone watch "Once Upon A Time"? I have been enjoying that show. It's about all the fairytale characters from our childhood being stuck in this town & ruled by the wicked witch. I guess it's like a grown up version, you could say.
as you can see, all i have been doing is watching TV. lol

have a great day everyone!!!!:elf:

I have meant to watch Once Upon A Time but always forget when it is on ! xo

I've always loved the Marx Brothers. When I was a young teen I read everything about them I could get my hands on. (Well, there were no VCRs, so I couldn't collect their movies.) My favorite Halloween costume was Harpo, and I played fair---I wouldn't speak.

Bill Marx, one of Harpo's sons, had a traveling act in the 1980s. He played the piano, and his partner played the harp, and Bill talked about Harpo. I brought along a 1st-edition copy of "Harpo Speaks" for him to sign, and he wanted me to stick around to talk after the autograph line finished, but my ride was leaving (I didn't have a license yet) and I couldn't stay. I've always regretted that.

For a few years, a local TV station would run a Marx Brothers marathon on New Year's Eve, from about 5 p.m. till past midnight. My parents would go to a card party, my brother would go to my grandparents, and for one night in the year I had the TV to myself and all the Marx Brothers I could handle! Those were great evenings.

I agree that their movies aren't on TV often enough. The next generations won't have a chance to discover them. At least all their movies have been released on DVD.

It must have been quite exciting to meet one of Harpo's sons !! That is wonderful !!! xo

I agree! It is easier to give them pills - she has a liquid antibiotic and so far has only taken one dose in the past two and a half days. She ate quite well this morning - that is a good sign!

Oh I am so happy little Mouse is eating !!! xo

Good morning, MMC!

Yay - I get to clean house this morning! Palmer will be underfoot so I'm sure it will be quite the adventure and take at least twice as long to accomplish what I want to do. cheesy

Other than that, today I get to relax. I want to finish the book I am currently reading and work more on the afghan.

Have a MERRY day and be safe!!!

Enjoy your book and be sure to kiss that little tyke for me !! xo along with Mouse, of course xo

I just got an email from my next door neighbor that reads:

10 more months until Christmas!!!

She told me that she one time left her Christmas tree up until July and lit it every day because it would not die. She said right after 4th of July that it finally died.

She has been the perfect neighbor since we have moved here. She loves Christmas like me and loves animals like me! She loves the Beatles too!

Happy Rudolph Day everyone!

How cool to have a Christmassy neighbor !!! xoxo

There are SO many good film mystery series from the 1930s and 1940s---you should see Edna May Oliver as Hildegarde Withers. Actually, Seawaters should see those---Miss Withers was a middle-aged schoolteacher who dabbled in solving murders!

Yes, it was exciting to hear him tell his stories onstage. And when he saw me standing in line with his dad's autobiography (it's about the size of "Gone with the Wind"!), he grinned and said, "I know what that is!" I'll always remember how happy he was to see someone with that book. There are photos inside of him with his dad and the rest of the family. I wanted him to sign one of the photos, but he felt that would mess up the book. Instead he signed a record album he and his partner were selling. I still have that, and the program from the show. He's a Julliard graduate and arranged the harp solos for the LPs Harpo recorded in the 1950s. He told stories about those, too.

CM3, expect a package in the mail on February 27. Five books by Ralph Fletcher: How Writers Work: Finding a Process That Works for You, How to Write Your Life Story, Poetry Matters: Writing a Poem from the Inside Out, Live Writing: Breathing Life Into Your Words, and A Writer's Notebook: Unlocking the Writer Within You. Each of these books is a quick read and is packed with information. Fletcher is my favorite writing author. Let me know when they arrive. I would start with A Writer's Notebook; and I would start keeping a writer's notebook. I will share some of the things that I have written in mine. Enjoy!

You are just too sweet for words !!!!!!!!

When I was out on the patio the other night with Har, I heard an owl hoo'ing!
It was so beautiful. It seemed to be coming from a tree over by "my" red barn. The sky was clear, stars all around, and almost a full moon. And I had to pinch myself, I feel so blessed. So wonderful to be back home.

So glad you are happy !! xoxoxoo:rudolph:

I am going to check them out. I think I heard about that series. Maybe this could be my second calling!
