Hey all...doing lots of babysitting this week, but wanted to check in.
RachRon, sorry to hear of health scare for BIL, hope that resolves positively very soon.
For my other MMC friends, hope your sleep is peaceful and that everyone has a healthy, and joyful day tomorrow.
Sweet dreams of Christmas future!

Hello everyone! Today is my mothers 71st birthday. We were able to spend most of the day together and had a really nice time. I'm so tired now and am happy to be settling down in my bed. I have both of my yorkies snuggled up to me and one of the cats just joined us. So cute. Anyway, I have been busy the past two days getting ready for moms birthday, I'm kind of looking forward to getting back to my regular routine tommorow. I hope everyone had a great day!
Goodnight, sweet dreams :-D

Xmas, I went online and bought those three books you told us about. How do you like them?

I just got "The History of the Snowman" in today, the other will be in some time next week. I thumbed through "...Snowman" a little today, and the tongue in cheek humor is right up my alley. "Tinsel" is in my pile to read, I am a little behind on my reading so it will be a bit before I get to them all.

Here is the synopsis for Snowman:

Book Summary of The History Of The Snowman
Who made the first snowman? Who first came up with the idea of placing snowballs on top of each other, and who decided they would use a carrot for a nose? Most puzzling of all: How can this mystery ever be solved, with all the evidence long since melted?
The snowman appears everywhere on practically everything -- from knickknacks to greeting cards to seasonal sweaters we plan to return. Whenever we see big snowballs our first impulse is to deck them out with a top hat. Humorist and writer Bob Eckstein has long been fascinated by this ubiquitous symbol of wintertime fun -- and finally, for the first time, one of the world's most popular icons gets his due.
A thoroughly entertaining exploration, The History of the Snowman travels back in time to shed light on the snowman's enigmatic past -- from the present day, in which the snowman reigns as the King of Kitsch, to the Dark Ages, with the creation of the very first snowman. Eckstein's curiosity began playfully enough, but soon snowballed into a (mostly) earnest quest of chasing Frosty around the world, into museums and libraries, and seeking out the advice of leading historians and scholars. The result is a riveting history that reaches back through centuries and across cultures -- sweeping from fifteenth-century Italian snowballs to eighteenth-century Russian ice sculptures to the regrettable "white-trash years" (1975-2000).
The snowman is not just part of our childhood memories, but is an integral part of our world culture, appearing -- much like a frozen Forrest Gump -- alongside dignitaries and celebrities during momentous events. Again and again, the snowman pops up in rare prints, paintings, early movies, advertising and, over the past century, in every art form imaginable. And the jolly snowman -- ostensibly as pure as the driven snow -- also harbors a dark past full of political intrigue, sex, and violence.
With more than two hundred illustrations and a special section of the best snowman cartoons, The History of the Snowman is a truly original winter classic -- smart, surprisingly enlightening, and quite simply the coolest book ever.

Hello friends!!

Hope you're all having a relaxing evening, so far.

We just had a huge dinner, and I'm stuffed. We made fetuccine alfredo, a spinach salad, and some mozzerella garlic bread. Yum!

I got a call from Harlowe's vet, Dr. Jodie, and she is healthy!
Her labs came back with all normal levels, and no problems with her liver function. Negative on heartworm, as well. Yippee!! So relieved. Thanks again for all of your thoughts & prayers for her.

Have a wonderful night!!

Happy B-Day to her!

Good evening,

Watched the Bruins game tonight but they lost, it was a good game, so I know Jennifer will be happy. We also went out to get the party favors for both boys, we have decided that this will be the last year for large b-day parties for them. It is getting way to expensive, I think by the time we get their gifts, rent a place, buy the cake, food, favors we spend more than we do on Christmas presents, and this year Easter falls exactly 2 weeks between their birthdays, so we are doing our part on helping the economy. cheesy Just surfing MMC, and watching The Love Bug, I have always loved this movie.

Sooo...

Good night all!

Happy Birthday to your mom. You are so lucky to have her!

Time for jammies and TV AND some homemade coconut cream pie! I bid and won the pie at the Portuguese Festa yesterday. It is SO good!
