Christmas Countdown - 2013

Good morning, good morning!

We had a nice and busy weekend. Yesterday Wayne was off work but he went with me to my job to help feed all the animals since we are closed. Our business is located on the path of the Labor Day Parade so we also got to watch some of that as well.

We were both up very early yesterday and decided to load up the bikes to take to the lake to ride before heading to my job. The sun was just starting to rise and already 80 degrees and humid but we really wanted to ride our bikes. He put them on the bike rack, I went to get our helmets to take to the car, stepped outside and heard a loud hissing sound. My tire went flat! One of our stray kitties was sitting on the car looking frightened, I bet he thought it was a large kitty hissing at him. Poor kitty! We unloaded the bikes and headed to the lake anyway, took a nice walk and fed the ducks while we were there. We got out there before 7 am and it was hot! I did get the flat fixed so we will try to go bike riding next weekend.

I am glad it is September and will be really happy when we are not topping near 100 degree temps! :thumbsup:

that sucks, at least a flat is not an expensive fix. Poor kitty, Penny would have had the same reaction.
Nice you could at least head out for a walk. I love walking around our river side park.

Afternoon or morning to most of you! Last day of school holidays today! The days are about to become alot more hectic which means the next few weeks are going to fly by! I can't wait for October, this is when I get really excited.

Update to my Monopoly mishap , the saga continues. I spoke to them this morning and they said they obviously have codes mixed up which is whi I keep getting the wrong version. They are looking into it further and will contact me to let me know if they can source me the one I want. Fingers crossed! Anyway I know this all so very trivial in the big scheme of things........

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

Wow, what a struggle getting Jacob through the Hunter's Safety Course yesterday! The at-home test on the CD, that had to be completed before attending the final class, was supposed to take a couple hours but it took MUCH more than that. And, of course, he waited till the last minute to start. We got the final class 30 minutes late, but they let us come in anyway, and he made a 98% on the exam. Whew!

It's still hot and super muggy down here in southeast Georgia, but there's nothing new about that.

Do you remember the Boxcar Children?

I always considered Nancy Drew to be girl books. But I did read some Hardy Boys books where they teamed up with Nancy Drew. I was all about the Hardy Boys. When I was even younger I was all about Encyclopedia Brown.

We recently found a box of my wife's old Fear Street books and she had fun looking at them.

Good morning!!! Happy September...hard to believe it's the "BER" months!!! I have only read 1 page of posts, but hope to have time to read more!! And I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!!!

We had a good weekend at the lake. My Buster was struggling pretty bad with his allergies! Poor guy! But he seems much better since we are back at home. Still not great, but better. He worries me! He's refusing to take his benadryl too - I need to find a new way to sneak it in!!

Happy September. We were blessed with a very nice holiday weekend at Myrtle Beach. Dad and Mom did ok. They got to see the ocean and go out to eat. The weather was nice. They were exhausted when they got home late yesterday but enjoyed the trip. It was a long drive but worth it. Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts.

Just in time for September, this week's weather forecast is for highs in upper 70's and lows in upper 50's. After storms early this morning, we should be dry the rest of the week. Not perfect weather but getting closer.

It was long day at work today, but at least it was time and a half. My better half finished making the Linzer pinwheels while I was at work, I came home and ate a handful of them, they are so good! I have a day off tomorrow, it will be LC and me on his last day before he starts kindergarten, I still can't believe my little guy is starting kindergarten. It seems just like yesterday I first met and held him for the first time. JP is going to help him get use to going around the school for the first few days. He is looking forward to going to school with his little brother.

To end my little blurb, I just want to mention I had a sort of Christmassy dream the other night.
I was heading to the little Christmas store in my town, and when I got there they were moving all the Christmas decorations and putting clothes in it's place. I asked what was going on, and they said the Christmas store was no more and it was being replaced. NOOOOOOOOO! I woke up and realized it was just a dream, phhheeewww! That was close to being a nightmare. cheesy

I have a neat story to share with you guys!
On Sunday, while I was visiting my family in La Crosse, my sister took me out to lunch. We went to the Hungry Peddler, a favorite restaurant for both of us. When we pulled into the parking lot, an advertisement on a car caught my eye. It looked like a Christmas wall hanging that I put up each season. I had to investigate =]
So we walked over to it, and sure enough, it was!! On each of the front doors, there was detailing that read "Believe in the magic of Christmas"! The license plate read Santa C! A Santa hat is centered on the dashboard =}
There were bumper stickers too, that read "My other car is a sleigh" & NP (North Pole). There was also an e-mail address, so I just e-mailed Santa for more information-I'll let you know his response!

When we went inside, I took a picture of the digital Christmas countdown that is hanging near the bar and kitchen area. I always smile when I see it!! The owner, Kevin, is a friend from high school's father. They are also big Christmas lovers! He saw me taking a picture of the countdown, and he asked if I realized that Santa was actually dining in the next room. He pointed him out to me, not that I would have missed him, he had his white long beard and was dressed in all red!! It was awesome!!

I was hoping to catch him before he left, unfortunately that didn't happen. But it was pretty cool to see the big guy so early in the season!!

Good evening, MMC!

I've got the windows open, the radio playing, and a pot of Italian tomatoes simmering on the stove - smells good! I only have zucchini to cook yet tonight and then I'm all caught up until tomorrow - yay! Of course, I still have some house cleaning to do, but it should go fairly fast and then I can relax for a bit.

Wow, somebody else who cut their mystery teeth on Encyclopedia Brown! Can you imagine! I also enjoyed the books about The Great Brain. He was a boy in the early 20th century who was always getting into trouble, but always came up with a scheme to get out of it. Sort of a junior Sgt. Bilko!

And for a few years, I had to buy and or read every Marguerite Henry horse book I could get my hands on. I had almost all of them.

I couldn't get enough of Encyclopedia Brown! I knew right where the series was in our public library and went straight there every time we went!

I don't remember the Great Brain but it sounds great!
