Christmas Countdown - 2013

My day just got a whole lot better. I just read that J.K. Rowling is going to write the screenplay for the movie, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." I also read that the Diagon Alley expansion at Universal Studios Orlando will open in Spring 2014. All of a sudden, the three hours between my classes doesn't feel so long anymore. I think Christmas just came early. :dance:
 
So busy today ... I can feel my brain slowing down. I hope I'm released by 5:30 tonight. I have more things to get done at home, though.

Could be some nasty storms tonight. We'll see what happens.

I faithfully went through the posts since last night. The day wouldn't be complete if I didn't read about my favorite people.

Well, OK then.
But that will come sooner than you think!

Warm and humid still yesterday, and today should be a repeat before we get a nice "Autumn Preview" this weekend.

Which brings me to the announcement.
The beach cottage rental season has ended and yours truly must travel over to the coast to see how the place fared and get the lawn (well, tough coastal weeds really) mowed.
As such, a countdown volunteer will be needed for Saturday and Sunday mornings.
This coveted position does not pay well (in fact it doesn't pay at all) but the fun and prestige is worth it as past vounteers will surely testify(?)
Any takers? Apply within. (Within the thread, that is.)

We stand at 74 degrees here this morning and please - have a Thrilling Thursday, OK?

Crown, I can take over the duties for Saturday and Sunday. I will be in Rochester, New York for a tournament, but that only means I will be up early and posting the count prior to leaving. Waking up an extra 10 minutes early surely won't help my morning preparations. I haven't searched to see if there have been any volunteers quite yet, but I would be happy to lend a hand should it still be necessary!

Ryan and Christmasstar responded, but phrased it that they would take the job if no one else wanted to do it. Since yours was an official "volunteer", the mantle passes to you.
(If something comes up and you can't do it, let them know and one will no doubt step up.)

Outside I met DD's head of daycare, where she went from 12 weeks through 5 years old. She rolled down her window & said, "I have on the earrings you bought me!" We gave them to her one year as a Christmas gift, so that was at least four Christmases ago! It made me happy to know that she still thinks of us after all those years & children that have come through the daycare. Always take time to think of a good gift for people, they will remember you for it!:wink:

I am so tired - guess that is what I get for staying up until the wee hours of the morning. As it is still muggy in the house I am going to wait a few hours before I start canning. It is supposed to cool down a lot more tonight, so it will be the perfect time. I only have pint jars, but there aren't a lot of tomatoes ready so all should be good.

Off to take care of a few things around the house.

Our temperatures are going to cool down this evening too. It has been uncomfortably hot and humid the past couple of days.

Good morning MMC!! Our walk was cut about a 1/2 mile short this morning b/c there were these wet drops falling on us! And lights in the sky! And some rumbling going on. I have a group of 4 friends that go out together for our birthdays - tonight they are taking me out for my birthday! Mexican & then ???? So between the no bake cookies & mexican food & margarita tonight - the scale will not be friend in the morning!!! But it will be fun! :grin:

My daughter has a couple of days like that. She has morning classes and then has to go back late afternoon/evening. It annoys her too!
