Christmas Countdown - 2013

Good morning everyone!

It is a tired morning. Not to mention the -5c/23f made it one of those mornings where you want to stay in bed and under the covers. I'd say that it's only going to get colder from here, but a warming trend appears to be on the way to Ottawa. Temperatures into double digits/mid 50s on Friday. A decent way to ring in November.

Another reason why I am tired; we had hockey last night at 11pm. We won 6-2, which is great considering we usually have a difficult time scoring goals. The only bad part was not arriving home until about 12:45 and having to wind down until I could go to bed around 1:20. Then, waking up at 6:20 isn't the best feeling either. Ahh well.... it could be worse! I just hope I don't doze off while at work anytime today.

In Christmas news, Kim and I were on the search for winter tires last night and I managed to sneak off into a few Christmas sections to take pictures. Unfortunately, War-Mart did not even really have much of their stuff out. Canadian Tire seemed to have a lot, but Kim was in a hurry, so I couldn't take a lot of pictures there. I'll post what I can to the Blosssoms thread later today.

The countdown is definitely moving ever-so-fast. In only two weeks from tomorrow, we'll all be celebrating the beginning of the Christmas Season at the 'Pines. From then on out, it will be Christmas music, dinners, celebrations. The best and busiest time of the year!

Greetings friends. Due to some testing tomorrow I have been prohibited by doc to workout for the past two days. I'm not used to being at home rather than at the gym on Monday evening. I'm rather enjoying the break. Hoping for good results with doc. Have a great evening everyone!

I have made it through one of the toughest stretches I have had at work in a long time. The last 6 days have been H E double hockey sticks. My back has been in constant pain, so my day off tomorrow I will probably lay down most of the day.
Hopefully I can get back to a little bit of normalcy, I also have Thursday off so I will be able to get a bit more rest.
The Red Sox are one win away from a World Series title, this has been a very entertaining series thus far. I am looking forward to Wednesday night's game.
Also on Wednesday, they are speaking of a possible wintry mix, I hope to see a little snow!!!!

I am heading to bed, I am beyond exhausted.

I am sorry to hear that you have been having a rough couple of days! I hope that the Red Sox win! I am still bitter about the Pirates losing so we can't have a team that beat them in the playoffs winning the World Series!! I hope you feel better today!

It's almost 3 am and I'm up working on my special post to welcome in the season. So if it doesn't make any sense, sorry!!! LOL!!!

My exam timetable is going to be released on 11th November. It's 3 weeks away, and the closer it gets to Christmas, the more expensive ticket get. I'm afraid I can't wait that long to get my flights. Oh well. :/ Wishing you a good day!

Good Morning MMC Gang!

How are you?

Yesterday was the warmest October day, since our weatherforecast is recording temperature. We had temps between 68-77° F (20-28° C) and sunny weather. Today it is rainy and the temperatures tropped to about 55° F. The next three days they will be lower.

According to our special weather forcast, a couple older men who are guessing the season weather by watching nature and animals, we will have cold weather and much snow from December through April. They say this year we will have a white christmas! Sometimes they are right with their forecast, sometimes they are wrong. So we all take this forecast with a grain of salt!

My favourite starbucks branch is already serving the christmas beverages. They won the red cup challenge. The new one will be Orange Mocca Latte. I guess I will try this one, as I don't like the gingerbread and the nutmeg latte.

Wow! That seems like quite a long winter if they are right. I hope that you do have a White Christmas! That's exciting that your Starbucks is serving Christmas drinks. I can't wait til ours start here! Have a great day!

I am so excited about the Red Sox and the World Series. The cards are the team I love to hate the most and I fell in love with the Sox in the summer of 2002.

It is going to be mostly cloudy today with a high of 52 degrees.
I am drinking a cup of coffee right now and enjoying it very much. I tried to give it up and I can't. I will cut back though. And I am still making healthier food choices so I think I'm on the right track.
Today I have to go back to the supermarket for a few things. I also need to go to Petco. My oldest is off from school and work today so she will probably keep me company. I would love to stop at the mall with her too. I'm hoping she can give me some ideas for Christmas gifts for her and her sisters. I find it more difficult to pick out gifts for them now that they are older.
My husband and I have been looking at different crossover vehicles over the past few days. I think we are finished looking, he is just waiting on a couple of more salesmen to call him back with some numbers before we make a final decision. I really do not like car shopping, I just don't like the whole process. I don't mean to sound ungrateful but I'll be happy when its over!

Good morning, HMG! I used to hate coffee but now I love it so I am hoping I don't become too addicted, lol! I like the flavored kinds. That sounds like a wonderful day planned! I love running places with my mom. I don't like the process of car shopping, either. I remember when I got my car it was very annoying. I'll probably be buying a car within the next couple of years and the only part I like is actually choosing a vehicle. Have a good day!

It is one year today since Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast of the US. They say it was the most destructive storm since Katrina. So many areas here on Long Island were devastated. Some homes have been raised but many are still struggling to rebuild, it's so sad!

I can't believe that it has already been a year. It is one of those times where I remember exactly what I was doing a year ago! I was stuck in an airport praying that I could get home. Our flight was the last one that they allowed to go out and they almost canceled it. It's so sad that there are still so many people suffering and that insurance companies are giving these people a hard time.

Sitting here drinking my coffee and eating my blueberry muffin waiting to go to work. I work till 4 today then DD has soccer practice tonight. Can't wait till the weekend gets here , I get to start my decorating!!! This is my favorite tine of the year!

One of my group members turned in a paper that is literally one page. I have no idea how I am supposed to critique that when there is nothing to it! Have I mentioned I cannot wait to graduate?!

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I went home yesterday and fired up the chainsaw. Another HUGE pecan limb is down, and it crosses over into a neighbors yard, so I decided to get to work on it. The say those pecan trees are "self-pruning", and they're right! The limbs just break right off...LOL.

We (the city council) hired a local lawn service guy to clean the streets and edge all the sidewalks and curbs in town. We want Bellville to look nice for Halloween, and the upcoming holidays. Anyway, they came past my yard with big blowers, cleaning the streets & curbs, and blew that stuff into my pool! I was almost ready to cover it, too! Now I have to vacuum it out again. Grrrr.

that is your first one right there, to short! Lacks detail, not enough information, you actually got an easy one, only one page to read! LOL Apparently someone is not as good at this as you are, you seem to me someone who take pride in a job well done. I can see why you look forward to graduating.

Good evening everyone! Hopefully your Monday was good. :] I spent my day at the campus library working on one of my essays, and I've just finished talking with my mum on 'Skype'. We discussed the issue of me coming back home for Holidays. The prices of the tickets still remain very high and I don't yet know my exam timetable which is very frustrating. Anyway, my fingers are crossed and I hope to figure something out as soon as possible otherwise the airline will increase its fees even more.

My cousin and I had a lot of fun on our day out to Frankenmuth. We laughed and smiled a lot and managed to go to all the places we wanted to go to and still get back in time for her to get her children from school and me to do my chores. Great day!

I was watching that coverage on Fox News this morning. So sad!

I'm working on one now---it's going awfully slowly because it's a single-crochet ripple. But it's long enough to keep me cozy while I work on it! Trouble is, with other things demanding my time, I might not be able to finish it by December.


It reminds me of back home, where some people will predict the winter weather based on a caterpillar called a "woolly bear." It's a fuzzy black caterpillar with a reddish band around its middle. Based on how heavy the fuzz is, how wide the red band is, etc., they predict how cold and snowy it will be during the winter.

I hope you are able to finish it by Christmas & share a picture!!! If I had more time this week, I would probably be able to finish mine - but it's not looking like it's going to happen! I was just a hooking along last night when I spilled ice water all over my Afghan all over my legs, my foot & all over the recliner! So I soaked that up & moved to the couch - then the Afghan was so wet it was making the couch all wet (soft leather)– so I gave up & hung the afghan over a chair to dry! I got maybe a row done, if that! I guess it wasn't meant to be… LOL

Good morning MMC! We started out with a really foggy morning here. School was delayed 3 hours! Not much else going on. Tonight I am going with my Mom/sisters/sil to play bingo at a benefit for a neurological center. They have Vera Bradly bags & Longenberger as prizes. Should be a fun night! Hope my hubby remembers he's on his own tonight! LOL! (I bet he forgot to leave me extra $$$ for bingo too) Darn!! :smile:

Ironically, this was just on the news today down here about how many people have yet to receive any settlement from their insurance company from the damages caused by the Hurricane and it's aftermath. I personally think that is truely sad...

Let me tell you, you go ahead and miss one insurance payment or be late, they want to to hang you out to dry, ruin your credit, call you rentless, etc... until they receive your money! But yet, here we are, after those poor people paid into the insurance companies over all those years for coverage and they still, to this very day, have yet to receive any payments, is the real disaster....just my opinion/ rant about insurance companies as a whole~

Yes, there are many home owners still battling to receive pay outs from their insurance companies. People should not be suffering like that after one year.
