Christmas Countdown - 2013

We are back!!! Just got in from a wonderful cruise aboard the Carnival Cruise Ship. We went to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico. I thought our other cruises was fun but this one was the best.

Look who we saw on Halloween Night in the Main Dining Room on the ship! Santa was enjoying himself on vacation! I was so excited that I jumped up and ran over to his table. The people we were sitting with started laughing but I was very for real. Ha ha! I told Santa that he is my hero and could I take a picture of him. He was very happy to do so. I am not the only one, everyone was going up to him wanting pictures. Wayne and I were selected as finalist in the Costume Contest onboard. I was a cop and he was my inmate. There were hundreds of people dressed up and they selected 31 people as finalist. Santa was selected too! We didn't win but we got a medal. It was fun!

Here we are! We had an unlimited internet plan onboard the ship. (Very slow but nice to have!) I sent this picture for my grandchildren to see and they got excited thinking I got a job as a cop onboard the ship. I also got my picture taken with Santa in my cop uniform. The kids asked what did Santa do wrong? Ha ha! I will get that picture on here soon.

I can't leave this couple out. They were onboard Halloween night as well. They were not with Santa but they met each other and of course Buddy the Elf had scream, "Santa"!!! It was way too cool to have a little Christmas on the ship!

Good afternoon everyone!

Happy 'Pines Day. It has been said, but it is officially the final 'Pines Day before the Christmas Season begins. We've come so far in 2013. Where has the year gone? I guess now is not the time to dwell - only to look forward to the excitement that awaits!

I sat by my phone last night and this morning only to not receive any phone calls for supply work. Thus, I have my third day off in a row. Hopefully something will come tomorrow. Friday, too! Initially, if I had no work, I had planned on going to the mall, but now I think I will just go to the grocery store and purchase some food to make for dinner... I'll make dinner this afternoon so it can just be heated following my visit to the gym.

Believe it or not, we're in double digits/mid 50s today in Ottawa. Above average, but temperatures are forecasted to move into seasonal by the weekend.

Well, the 'Pines looks great. Carl is practically a magician with his ideas. So many occasions to plan for but he does it so right! Despite marvelling at these decorations, I can't help but wonder to think what he has in store for next week when we all gather to celebrate the first day of the Christmas Season. A day of comfort and joy. A day when I feel proper to say those two magical words that will always warm my heart. Until then, have a great Wednesday, everyone!

The rest of the world is starting to catch up with us fanatics. I have to go out and look tonight but I think one of the houses in the neighborhood behind us had some lights up.

Once my back is right again, my decor will be going up.

I want one of those machines for putting up lights they had on the Grinch, much easier than using a ladder.
A friend of mine was putting up his lights yesterday when it was a really nice day, said he was determined not to freeze his fingers this year!

It is raining here and 13c (55f), temps are not supposed to drop again until around the 13th.

Mom and I went to London yesterday to the Sweet Outlet to pick up the gifts mom wanted for Christmas. She got chocolate letters for the great grand kids and really nice ornamental metal balls with chocolate inside for the rest. She also got boxes of chocolates for her elderly ladies she visits regularly. This from an 82 year old! LOL

Feeling better today even though the situation still exists. Thanks for all the prayers.

And more good news! Mr. reports that our new stovetop was FINALLY installed! It's a long story, but having it finally in feels like a major victory. After all we went through, I hope it cooks well! (That is, as well as it can considering the cooks.)

I feel like I have been away from here for too long. I was going through the posts on Monday night and I fell asleep with the computer on my lap. These muscle relaxers are really doing a number on me. Last night when I finally was able to get on MMC, I responded to one or two posts and then MMC wouldn't let me back in. I kept getting the "Sign up to be a Platinum Member screen." I am now out of work until at least Saturday, my back is doing better but still very, very sore. I can't bend over to pick things up but it is a bit better from where it doesn't feel like being squeezed by a vice.

I do have some very exciting news, we bought a new car yesterday!!!!! A 2014 Chevy Equinox, we weren't planning on it until the spring but the deal we couldn't pass up!!! We are also trading in the vehicle we weren't planning on trading, but to go to an All wheel drive vehicle from a minivan that is not much better than a sled in the snow I think we made the right choice. The best thing is our monthly payment will be less than what we are paying on the van. We should be picking it up Monday or Tuesday. We cannot wait!!!

Another great deal I found yesterday at Goodwill, I found another Jim Shore Santa decoration at GW for $4!!!!! I bought it and checked it out online, it sells at retail for $58!!!!!

I think they think I am nuts at the Goodwill store, they always recognize me because I am always in the store once a week looking at the Christmas section. I have told them I collect Christmas stuff, and I get occasional comments. To each his own, right?

I love Christmas, and I love collecting it. I have found many treasures that I will cherish that others no longer want.
Sorry, it has been annoying me when I get comments from people there, customers and employees. I just had to get that off my chest.

Good morning MMC!!!! Happy PINES DAY!!!

I am getting so excited & overwhelmed looking through the Thanskgiving magazines. So many things I want to try! I need to decide on a few & plan the Thanksgiving lunch! Once I figure out what I'm going to make, the others can chime in with what they want to bring! So exciting!!! I need to get in gear though - I need to start cleaning house so I'm not trying to do it all the week of Thanksgiving. We will have the Turkey Trott at our house in the morning & then the inlaws coming for lunch. Busy day! Dinner (supper) will be at my sisters, so I need to make something to bring there too! SO FUN!! I'm in such a holiday mood today!!!

I saw my Dad outside this morning on my way to work - he was bringing the trash out to the road for pick up, so I was happy to see him out & about after his procedure yesterday! Thanks for all the prayers!!

First off, I hope your back starts to heal soon. I have issues with my back and I know how you're feeling. One turn wrong and everything goes out of wack. Try to rest as much as you can.

Congrats on the new car! We're actually going to test drive a Chevy Traverse either tomorrow or Friday. It's like you're car, but with a third row. We like the third row deal for when we travel. We always need the extra room, especially with the dog. She takes up a lot of space! As long as we like it, we're going to get it.

I love the ornament! That was such a great find! I'm sure Made loves it as well!
