The day got off to a happy start. A co-worker yesterday who knows I crochet brought me a granny-square afghan that her grandmother had made from scraps. The yarn had broken at a few points, and some of the crochet was unraveling, and she wanted to know if I could fix it. I wasn't sure, but I offered to try. Thank heaven for Google! I located a few tutorials, with photos, showing exactly how to do the repairs. I was nervous, because if I failed, the whole afghan would be ruined. But I took a deep breath and was able to repair the three danger spots. My co-worker is on Cloud Nine over the repairs, and I feel so good that I was able to do it successfully and rescue her heirloom. It's a very Christmassy feeling!
:transform:
my mom has fixed a few over the years, she says it is not easy to do, but she always managed it!

Good morning, friends!!

I am starting to feel pretty rough- sore throat, achy, exhausted, chills. And I work all day- please say a prayer that I don't have strep like a co-worker of mine.

Hope you all have a blessed, Christmassy day!!

xx

Hope you are feeling better. You need to be healthy so you can enjoy the great weather you are having.

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

We finally have a Frasier Fur at the house! It's not indoors yet, but it IS, technically, at the house. We can't do anything fun for having to do homework, or go to dance & guitar lessons. I've been hoping to slow down a bit, so we can enjoy the season. We talk about this every January. Sure enough, Nancy wants to go shopping Saturday (great!), then another trip Sunday afternoon to Savannah to see a live nativity with a local church. I think it would be fun to see, but that's another whole afternoon gone. Oh well.

Enough complaining...it's Christmastime!!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

I've also been complaining a little bit. It's going way too fast, I wish it would slow down.
I hope you have a great day too!

rained all night, not one flake of snow left here. Going up to 15c (59f) here today. Already 11c and not even 9am yet. A nice day to open doors and windows and air things out.

Going to do a bunch of cleaning around the house today. Hope to also get some baking done.

But first off to the school of hairdressing where they are going to attempt to do something with this mop on my head.

Have a great day everyone!

We are having mild temperatures today too. I just opened up the sliding glass door in the back so the cats could look out, I don't feel any cold air.
Have fun at the hairdresser and have a great day!

Good morning, all!

Day off, as schools are closed due to ice-covered roads. Well, the prediction is that they will freeze soon, which will make for hazardous travel later in the day, when the buses are on the roads. If it doesn't ice, we will have some angry parents.

So, seeing it is an un-planned day off, so no "to do" list has been created, I am going to try to accomplish as little as needed :) , and make it a Christmas-type day (it is coming upon us so fast).

Eggnog is at the ready, and two new DVD's recently arrived from Amazon will be in my DVD players soon: Perry Como Christmas Speciall (from 1974, w/ The Carpenters, Peggy Fleming, and Rich Little) and The Dean Martin Christmas Show from 1968, w/ Lucille Ball, Jimmy Stewart, Jack Benny, Tony Bennett, and Johnny Carson, among others.

Bet it's not too difficult to see where I got the name "Classic Christmas" from, eh?

Enjoy your day, it sounds wonderful!

Hey, if your planning to start a new side business...I have a couple of them as well that are in need of repairing and no one around to repair them. :D

That's great!!!! (I guess I should have read a little further) cheesy

It's OK, Xmas. I am notorious for not posting a whole lot throughout the day!

Dull drab day here, no snow and it is 13c
My friend just texted that she has free tickets to the show do I want to come ? If course! Not sure yet what we are going to watch but I am up for a night out!!!
Waiting for daughter to get out of work, she is late so I will wait longer I guess.

I don't think I'd make a business of it! But I might be able to help.

I had a big advantage last night: my co-worker's afghan was made of all sorts of yarn scraps, so matching the color or texture wasn't at all important---I just filled in with whatever scraps I had. It would be much more difficult to have to match a specific color or texture of yarn. And I'm a newbie at it---the repairs didn't look quite as good as new, but they were acceptable and stabilized the damaged areas. I was okay with repairing a scrap afghan, but I wouldn't be very comfortable working on a gorgeous irreplaceable heirloom.

One side effect was that I picked up some of my scraps and started making some granny squares myself! I hadn't made any in quite a while. Maybe I'll slowly piece together a granny-square afghan of my own. I've been wanting to do one where they're oriented as diamonds rather than squares. Or combining squares and ripples.

Good morning everyone!

I'm currently supervising a library class. They're all working on computers. It's not really teaching, so the class can get a little boring. I have one more of these after lunch and then I get to "teach" a Photography class. It should be fun!

The good news is that I am working and therefore, I must be driving. The car was "fixed" yesterday. The mechanic called and told me that it wasn't the cable. The "Check Engine Soon" light remained on after they thought to have "fixed" the car. Apparently, my censor is broken. The best news of the day was that the mechanic was disappointed that he didn't properly diagnose the car and did not charge me anything. He said that he would look for a censor for my car cheaper than $250, which he found yesterday. The car, he said, runs perfectly fine and he'll call me back as soon as he finds a censor. I will bring it in then. What an honest mechanic! They're few and far between. This was only my second time there, but I will continue to give him my business from now on.

We're motoring through the Christmas Season, aren't we? Nearly a week through our month. The first full weekend of December begins tomorrow. Yesterday evening was fun. Kim and I watched the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and then SNL Christmas afterward. The SNL Christmas Special always makes me laugh.

It's currently raining in Avonmore, ON - about 50 minutes outside of Ottawa. I'm really hoping that the rain stops before the end of the school day. Having wet or even icy roads will not be fun on the drive home.

Well, I should return to "class." Have a great Thursday, everyone! Continue enjoying the Christmas Season. Merry Christmas!

Hoo-wee! You really did have a good time shopping! Nothing better than a truck full of new electronics!

I AGREE!! :D So fun!!!

Good afternoon!!!! Happy St. Nick Eve to those who celebrate!!!

Well, catching up the other day never happened! Ahhhhhh - need more time in a day! Ha ha! (or more time to play on the MMC website at work! :D)

Tonight & tomorrow we are supposed to get up to 3-6" of snow. Possibly mixed with some ice! Rain is supposed to be moving in soon, switching over later! My friend & I have our shopping trip to Indiana tomorrow so hopefully we can still go! EEK! If not, we will find SOMETHING to do!!!!

Today is my sisters 50th birthay!!! BIG BIRTHDAY! She is on her way to the Biltmore Estates with her hubby & my niece went along too! My bro'/sis'/nieces/nephews are all text bombing her today - making the drive go faster. Ha ha!! I'm sure she feels the love! I hope St. Nick can find them in North Carolina tonight!!!!

Lunch time here! Hope you all are having a great day!!!!
