Continued cold here---the weather's more like January or February than December. Sounds like we're supposed to get a storm with several inches of snow from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. I'm hoping to turn on the tree lights so I can watch the tree and the snow at the same time!

I forgot to tell you about something great I saw here at the office. You know the apps that show a cozy fire on your cellphone. One guy built a miniature fireplace (complete with Christmas decorations) to hold the cellphone in place while the fireplace app runs. If someone sold those, I'd buy one in an instant! He hung it on the office Christmas tree (without the cellphone, of course).

Speaking of the office tree ... someone quietly removed "the finger," and the guy who hung it up in the first place keeps grousing about its removal. Well, it really wouldn't be appropriate for visiting clients to see that! (It was a paper cutout of the gesture, with a ribbon tied around the middle finger. I'm glad it's gone.)

I'd buy one of those fireplaces too!!! That sounds really cute!!!

Glad the finger vanished. I agree that it's probably not the most appropriate thing to put out in the open where clients can see.

Good morning, MMC family! Busy day here! Getting ready to go grocery shopping, hopefully do the last of my Christmas shopping today, get lunch while we're out, then come and do more wrapping.

What is everyone's plans for today? I hope you all have a great day! I'm thinking of you all. I'll check back in later. God Bless and keep smiling!

Have fun shopping today!!! Don't forget my list if you want your fudge!!!

Good morning all. Sorry I've been away so much. I'm afraid I'm too far behind to even attempt to catch up on the posts. Having Thanksgiving and now Christmas season without mom has been difficult. On a positive note, it has also led us to focus more on the true meaning of Christmas as we the celebrate the indescribable gift we have been given. We are trying to make it a much more Jesus centered Christmas.

Next Tuesday 17th with be my last work day until Jan 2nd as the college shuts down for Christmas break. I'm really looking forward to the break. Just wish we had gabulldawg's weather. As many of you know, I love snow and cold weather. It was 19 this morning when I left for work but we are expecting a much too warm high of 43 today.

Have a blessed day everyone.

I missed most of the Christmas party last sunday due to power failure at my home, and I was really looking forward to it this year. I know in years past around Christmas Eve everyone tried to meet online at midnight to watch David Letterman show to see Darlene Love sing. Are there plans for that this year? I would love to be able to join in this year!

Thanks for that! it sounds like you are doing an awesome job yourself! Honestly I let brandi take the lead in decision making with the boys, in other words she wears the pants in the family!:) and honestly I like it like that, I trust she knows more than I do about certain things. It works out for us that way. cheesy

Thanks! Sounds like our house!!! Shhh...you didn't hear that!

You are lucky though you live in the NC high country...you get the coldest weather by far of any others in the southeast. BTW I have been reading online at accuweather.com and others that the week of Christmas the southeast could have record breaking cold temps so keep your fingers crossed!:snowball:

I pray they are right. A foot of snow would be perfect for Christmas.

Did western NC get hammered with a freak blizzard on Dec 23 and 24th of 1989? I was living in Georgia then in 9th grade...we got 6 inches of snow and it stayed on the ground until the 27th. it was once in a life time event. I think even Florida had snow that stayed on the ground for days. 1-75 was shut down for days... it can happen!!!:whisper:

So does that mean I'm going have to be your personal shopper along with Nanny and maid when I move back there?

I just got off the phone with the wife and she is leaving Boston (logan airport) in the morning. I just hope the weather will cooperate! That airport is the scariest airport ever..I don't know why but every time I take off or land in Boston my stomach is in my throat! I think it's because all of the water in the bay right off the runway, then the wind is usually up and then in winter....well we all know what happens in Boston in winter! Any posters here that live up that way think flights will be affected tomorrow because of the weather?

Hello, Christmas family! I haven't been able to find the time to catch up the past couple of days. Things have been so busy here! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for my mom! She still has the low-grade fever. Yesterday she was able to go get a couple of blood tests done, but she won't get her results until Monday when the doctor is back in. Of course, when you look up her symptoms online, it lists things like leukemia, which has her even more worried.

It is a toasty 10 degrees outside right now. I have to go run and start my car before heading out. I have a doctor appointment of my own, nothing major and no need to worry. We are going to have to run for groceries either tonight or tomorrow. We are expected to get somewhere between 4-6 inches of snow this weekend. The meteorologists have been wrong all season, so who knows! Maybe we'll get a blizzard or nothing at all.

I have to run but I am going to try my best to catch up when I get home this afternoon!

And by the way....people in my neighborhood are NOT festive!!! There are only three houses on my whole street (which is very long!) that light up. Of course, one is mine! When I was little we used to drive around the neighborhood and count the number of houses lit...I bet I could do it on both hands! People in my neighborhood have really lost the Christmas spirit over the years, it's sad!! We did have carolers last year, so I wonder if they're going to come back! They probably got the door slammed in their face with the jolly folks around here....ugh.

Yes they did. I was living in TX at the time but the area I live in now got over a foot. What I hope for is a repeat of the winter 'storm of the century' in March of 1993. We go over 3 feet then. That would be great. Since our county doesn't scrape the roads out where I live, we would be stuck on the mountain for a while. Could just set by the fire and eat snow cream.
