That sounds lovely Meceka! Like I said I'm a novice. I sit and watch youtube videos on how to do certain stitches, practice along, get it in my head, and then completely forget to use it the next time I start something. I still love the simplicity of a straight knit and garter stitch. Though I do have a scarf I made with ribbon yarn that sees alot of use here in FL. LOL

I do love tatting lace though! I started that when I was 19. I had a bad car accident that left me with only the use of my finger tips on my left hand for quite a while. Bored and healing I started learning and finding ways to paint and do crafts one handed or with limited use of both. I'm left handed so I had to learn to write, draw and paint with my right.

Tatting with shuttles was easy because the thread just had to wrap around the fingers of my left and my right could do all the work. My mom still has a boxful of tatted Christmas ornaments from simple snowflakes to complex starched and formed sleighs and bells. LOL. I still love it and prefer shuttles but now know how to do it with crochet hooks too.

I envy you and Meceka your skills. I've tried a lot of crafts looking for that one thing that can hold my attention but with poor results.

Okay I just had to post one more thing because this is too funny!

Where we live we have two families of really large sand cranes on our property. They are on the endangered species list and protected by Florida laws. They stand about 4.5 to 6 feet tall depending on gender and age. Several of them were standing in the middle of the road in front of our house. I'm outside on my back porch reading here and posting, but can clearly see them.

I just watched a van pull up to them, put on his brakes and come to a complete stop. They are not skiddish at all and generally move when they're good and ready. He sits there honking his horn repeatedly trying to get them to move. Two of them amble slowly off to the side of the road. The driver gets out of the van and yells at the top of his lungs at the other two. "GO ON!! GET OUTTA HERE!!"

These cranes mate for life and have been here for years now. My MIL named this particular couple Elvis and Priscilla. LOL Elvis is very tall and his size can be intimidating if you're not used to them. This driver is making broad gestures trying to get them to move. I yelled out, "Hey!! I wouldn't do that if I were you! Just go around them!!"

Keep in mind... these are large birds. Think Ostrich mentality. Far more cognitive than your average bird. That "fight or flight," instinct is more just "fight or... yeah let's just go with fight again."

The guy completely dismissed me and just keeps yelling and waving his arms. Stepped one step too close to Priscilla and Elvis' massive wings spread wide. He has about an 8 to 9 foot wingspan. Then that huge beak opened up, he lunged and his bellowing cackle-cry echoed off the houses and canal. You can hear those things with the TV on loud and all windows closed. If you're outside near them it makes you want to cover your ears and the vibration hits that decibal that causes nausea.

Elvis flapped one time, went airborn vertically up, hovered and came back down, looming over the man and standing in front of him wings spread. The driver covered his head with both arms, ducked, peered out from between his arms and they were just staring at each other, face to face.

One last roar from the crane and the man just paused for a nano second, screamed like a little girl and ran for his vehicle. He threw it in reverse and backed up down the road!!! LMBO ROFL That was great!!! AAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

So funny. Birds are my favourite animals to watch.

I love these stories! I'll bet most of us were Christmas nuts from an early age.

I remember the year I talked my parents into getting a real tree for the first time in years … so I could take over the artificial tree and put it in my room! There was an early Thanksgiving that year, and I had that tree up and decorated by November 30. I can still picture the colored reflections of the lights on the ceiling.

That sounds beautiful!!!

Funny story!

Thank heaven, the worst we have to deal with around here is wild turkeys, and thank heaven again, I've never had to deal with one. Or with a bird that stand six feet tall and screams like a snallygaster, either!!

HAHAHA LOL!!!

I tried to teach myself how to tat with a shuttle several years ago - I just could not do it no matter how hard I tried. A few years back I bought a cro-tat hook and how-to book - I really should get them out and give it a go one of these days. The snowflake and bell patterns I have collected over the years are gorgeous and I would so love to do some up for my tree. Now if I can only remember where I stashed everything. cheesy

LOL I have the same problem. Now where DID I put that instructional book for world domination??

Well not a whole lot of luck shopping. Either the stores didn't order as much this year or the bargain hunters were out in strength the past couple of days. I only found one Santa that I liked and 7 rolls of wrapping paper. I couldn't even find cards. Usually I can get them at 75 or 90% off.

LittleCS and I had a good laugh over this story! I can just picture the whole thing, LOL

Hey made/coach. Let's figure the potential date for Lovemas 2014 .... What do you think? 12/22. 12/23?

I'm saying 12/23 or 12/19.

I'm also going with 7/25-7/27 for CIJ.

home from work, relaxing.
Had a tossed salad with turkey, pomegranates and shredded cheese with sweet onion dressing on it for supper.
I am running the children's church tomorrow, going to be a movie with popcorn. Nice and easy.
But for now, I am going to put my feet up and enjoy a peaceful evening.

Good evening friends! How are you all doing? I am pretty good today. Just relaxing this evening and reading some posts here. I won't get a lot read, but I thought I would pop in and say hello and try to read some.

How has everyone's day been? Mine has been pretty good. I ended up working late and then came home and tried to sleep. DH was insulting the basement today, so needless to say, it wasn't a quiet sleep, but I am glad it got done. He was able to get it finished today.

Beware everyone: I'm not sure if it's everywhere or just my region, but the flu is very bad right now! I go back to work last night and bam, it's horrible. I guess we had 18 confirmed cases just yesterday. Our nurses getting it like crazy and most have had the flu shot, so it's obviously a different strain. Just try to take care of yourself out there. I hope to not get it, especially my kids.

Well, I am off. I work tonight, then because there are so many call offs, I am taking call 7a to 11a tomorrow after my shift, but if it is too busy, I will have to work those hours. We will see! I am off tomorrow though, so it really doesn't matter to me either way.

I will talk to you all tomorrow. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your evening/weekend thus far. God Bless and keep smiling!

Same here. But to be honest, I didn't see a lot of product coming in, nor a lot of restocking during the runup this year either.

Good Thursday afternoon, my Christmas friends!

No post-Christmas blues here, either! Only 9 months to go till the 'Bers start, 11 months to go till the season, and 364 days to go till the big day! I'm counting on Crown to lead the way.

We had a great Christmas, and I finally got the Superman movie. I just made the girls watch it with me & Jacob. They agreed it was pretty good, but said there were too many explosions. Huh?!? There can never be too many explosions! And the score was tremendous! That music makes me want to go out & save the world, too!

I took the remainder of the week off from work. unlike Xmastidings, I've accrued all of the vacation hours I can bank, so I have to use some time, or it won't accrue any more. We're going back to my mom's for supper tonight, then I think we're going to see Frozen tomorrow.

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

Did you get to go see it? I took EA last week and she loved it, as well as me. I can't wait until it comes out on Blu-ray. It's one I am for sure going to buy!

Hi guys. I'm very far behind on the posts but wanted to drop in and say hello. Miss you guys!

Hey Ryan!!!! Hope you are enjoying your weekend!!!

There is a lot of people sick around here, too. Yikes.

Hope you & your family stay healthy, sugar.

And that work goes well tonight-and that you can catch up on sleep tomorrow!
