Christmas Countdown - 2014

I am loving the weather outside though, it is awonderful, Fall feeling evening out; and that always lights me up and lifts my soul. It's down in the upper 50's, and I'm loving it.....

Here it is almost 9pm and my son and wife are already in bed for the night. They were all up late last night, watching the Ravens put a thumping on them Steelers. I could hear them sceaming and yelling until I got back up out of bed, took an Ambian, and then I heard nothing for the rest of the night......lol

I hope everyone is having a good evening tonght.

It does stink but like you said, all you did was tell the truth. So you can't blame yourself.

It sounds like you went out of the way to work with him and to comfort him after it happened. I will keep him in my prayers.

I'm going to sign off for the night. My daughter is almost home, I have to pick her up soon. She wants to go straight to Taco Bell, lol. There isn't one near her college so she hasn't had it since she left. I just realized its only been two weeks since we moved her in. It feels like it was so long ago! It must be magic to walk into an all-Christmas store off-season and be transported to Christmastime!

There are 2 year round Christmas stores out here in the western part of the state, Yankee Candle Village Store in Deerfield & Kringle Candle Company in Bernardston. They are both great places to visit, but Yankee Candle is bigger and has a lot more to see and do. We love it there.

We didn't tell anyone, we're going to surprise her father & sisters. Her roommate has also been feeling homesick so they decided to come home together. It's just a quick visit but I'm so happy. Good evening,

I am wiped out tonight, it wasn't too busy at work today due to the Eastern States Exposition (The state fair or "The Big E" as it is lovingly known) opening up for its 17 day run.
I am watching one of our Halloweenie type movies tonight "The Goonies." We love this movie, it makes me feel like a kid again every time time I watch it.

I am heading towards my pillow very soon, morning comes way too fast.

Good evening! I kind of have a gut punch sort of feeling right now. I had a really un-comfortable day at work this morning, something that I had to do, but I didn't really want to do.

I was called into the presidents office and I was asked allot of questions about the performance of another employee. Now, I like this guy, he's a little odd, and you can tell, that he has a slight learning difficulty, but he is very reliable to be at work, punctual, never misses a day, and would do just about anything you ask him to do. But, he was just not cutout for the engineering field, other than just a basic drafter, which we do not use at our firm. He needed constant supervision, had to always re-check his work, and you repeated yourself to him, about how to do the same things, over, and over and over again.

It had gotten to a point, where out of 20 engineers, it was only three of us that would work with him and try to keep him busy. It has just gotten to a point, where something had to give.

Well, needless to say, this afternoon, he was let go....I feel really bad for him. I have reached out to a couple of friends of mine that work at other engineering firms in hopes that something could be there for him....I talked to him alone and told him that things like this happen and it just plain out right stinks. I told him tomorrow is another day, the sun will rise and so shall he.....

I know that it was my report that was the straw that broke the camels back, but, I was honest to my boss as I always am and will be...I gave good points and bad points to him and my summary was that I do not believe in letting someone go, just because. But I felt that our firm was not the right place for him and nor would he ever progress to become a designer. He lacks confidence in himself, needs constant re-assurances, does not follow directions and just does not get what we do.

Agggghhhh, sometimes it stinks to do somethings that you really don't want to do, but you know you have to do it.....Poor guy~

It seems harsh to you, but in the long run he will be better off and happier in a place that more closely matches his capabilities. If it hadn't been done gently today, it might have been done harshly later on and hurt him more. I hope he will find a place that's a good fit for him. You did the right thing by being honest about him and with him.
