Good Morning, Friends.

Well, hey!
The Weekend is here!

And so are today's count figures:
Days to the Season: 292
Days to Christmas Day: 334

Barely over 2 1/2 weeks off now from the 1/4 Season Milestone, #2 on our handy dandy post #1 chart.
(Hardly seems possible......until you recall the Season count has been running for well over 2 months - since Nov 13!)

Still cold, cold, cold!
I never saw the thermometer above the mid 20's here yesterday.
Now today has started at 22 degrees, but we are predicted to reach the mid 40's by this afternoon.
(Downright balmy!)

Have a Sensational Saturday, Folks!
And let the spirit of the Season be your guide.

Thanks Crown, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Stay safe and keep warm Star!

Good morning, friends. Just got in from work, so I'm headed to bed. We're supposed to get 3-5 inches today. We'll see how much we actually get!

Everyone enjoy the day! Stay safe and warm. Talk to you later!

Sleep well Sugar, I hope you have a great day!

Greetings!!!!!!

** OFFICIAL THREAD - CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN 2014 **

OK, Friends!
For the 8th consecutive year here at My Merry Christmas (and the 11th year overall) another year of countdowning begins!

Here are the statistics since we began the Season countdown idea 10 years ago:
2004 = 1,217 posts (Christmas.com) = 3.3 posts per day.
2005 = Over 2,700 posts (Christmas.com) = over 7.4 posts per day.
2006 = 3,756 posts (The Christmas Place) = 10.3 posts per day.
2007 = 1,957 posts (My Merry Christmas, where the thread was not launched until July) = 12.1 posts per day.
2008 = 5,103 posts = 13.9 posts per day.
2009 = 8,231 posts = 22.6 posts per day.
2010 = 16,226 posts = 44.5 posts per day.
2011 = 31,091 posts = 85.2 posts per day.
2012 = 39,183 posts = 107.1 posts per day!
2013 = 59,747 posts = 163.7 posts per day!!
(The growth of interest and participation in this thread is really incredible. A per-day post increase EVERY year since the begining!)

And now here we are ready to go again, at the start of 2014.

A word of explanation. We are running a dual countdown in this thread - one for Christmas Day and one for the start of the Christmas Season (November 13).
Most all of us have agreed that we look forward to the entire Christmas Season rather than just to Christmas Day.
Why November 13?
Well, it just seems about the right time to regard the season as arriving. That date is exactly 6 weeks before Christmas Day and is about the time the country at large is beginning to really get into the holiday spirit. Most of the stores have decorated. And starting the season then gives us exactly 50 days (Nov 13 through Jan 1) to enjoy being "within" the season, giving it a depth that's lacking with just the Christmas Day count by itself.

We also enjoy noting special "milestones" along the way (see the chart below).

And here's one thing you CERTAINLY don't want to miss!
Many of us gather here on the evening of November 12 for our annual hour by hour, then minute by minute countdown to the start of the Season at midnight Eastern Time. It's something we really look forward to and is truly great fun!

Allright, Everybody.
Climb aboard once again and enjoy reading the posts/following the count which begins today at 316 to the Season and 358 to Christmas Day.

Here is a list of our Christmas Season and Christmas Day countdown milestone markers.

January 17 = Day 300

Thanks for all the info, and I'm sorry I missed being around on New Year's but it's a long story. I explained in a posting just today, so read "if" interested!
So thanks for all the hard work you have done in 2013 much appreciated! Look forward to another involved year here at MMC! All the best to you and yours.
Happy New Year!!!!
:cry:

Happy Saturday, friends!!

Hope you all have a blessed day~

Stay warm!! ⛄❄️

xx

Happy Saturday to you too Snowflake!

Happy Rudolph Day MMC!!!!!!! It's a balmy 26 degree's here this morning but instead of warming up like normal as the day goes on, we are going to fall as the day goes on until we hit 0 later this evening. We ended up with not quite 2 inches of snow overnight but the 45 mph wind gusts and sustained winds of 25mph blew it and the snow that was already on the ground, all over the place. There is drifts several feet high on the roads they are saying. In a saturday miracle though, the father and son duo of Jose and Jose Jr, part of the maintenance staff, came around with the snowblower and a shovel and did our sidewalk already this morning. I thought i was going to faint when I saw them. So now I'm just going to kick back and enjoy the day. The 24 hours of Daytona race starts later today so that will take up a large part of my weekend. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!

We are having similar weather here today. I'm happy maintenance showed up! Enjoy your day Made!

HAPPY NEW YEAR
To you one and all!!!!!

I'm sorry everyone, the days are just flying by so fast!
It will be the Holidays again before we know it!
It's been quite harried around here; First, 45 minutes into the new year after driving a sick lady home from a very small gathering for New Year's Eve, very small, just the three of us. (It was ok, but a tad on the boring side.) Anyway on the way home I was entering an intersection and I noticed that a car was not stopping at the stop sign, it was a taxi, and I knew I could not avoid him, I hit him with my new car! I had the right of way, no stop sign, I hit him broadside on the driver's side. My lower bumper and grill broke apart, I was not hurt, but it was my first car accident EVER in the 36 or more years of driving! I was shaken, but fine.
Then I got to bed a little after 2 am, then I was awoken by a call on my cell phone at 7am. The gentleman I live with collapsed on the floor and needed help getting up, he had been battling a small bladder infection, so I had to call 911 to help get him off the floor and unto the bed. This man is over 200 lbs, and I'm only 135 lbs and slender, no way could I lift him. Later in the after noon on New Year's day, an ambulance had to take him to the hospital for tests, he was there for 4 days.
Then after he came home he became ill from catching a cold from the hosptial. One week later he is better, but since he is such a sharing man, he passed on this cold to me. He leaves dirty tissues around the house all the time, which I have to pick up, and then sanitize my hands. But due to the stress of everything, my immune system was not great, so I'm still struggling with my sinus cold, it's better, but coughing and nose blowing is still hanging in there!
My insurance company (AllState) has been fabulous, on Monday my new car is being repaired like new! Since the cab driver broke the law by running the stop sign, he was found negligent, so I don't even have to pay the deductible!!!!!!
Boy oh Boy....I can't tell you what a beginning to the new year this has been. And all the while every now and then I would think "I must write to my MCC friends and let them know Happy New Year!" So finally today I just stated "I must get on and write" so here I am.
I'm sorry I missed that wonderful opportunity to be on and greet everyone into the new year, I know you all will understand.
I do hope you all had a great time and a blessed one.
I hope the new year will end better than it had started! But my trust and Hope is in my Lord, and He for sure shall NEVER leave me! He kept me during the accident, and has helped me during this long stressful few weeks.
So I just want to say I love you guys...and girls, and I will be back on and keep conversing with you all!
Oh by the way.......there are people here who still have their Christmas trees up and the lights are still all around the city! I told you they love the holidays here, and the weather has been so cold, the lights can still make everything a bit more cheerful!
Ok that's it, talk with you all later!
:cry:

Happy New Year, friend!!

Sorry it has been a struggle for you so far~

So glad that you're ok after your car accident, how scary that must've been.

Hope you start feeling better soon!

Keeping you & yours in my thoughts & prayers

Take good care!

I'm sorry about the car accident, thank God you were not hurt.
I'm sending you hugs, prayers and get well wishes!
I hope you have a very happy 2014!!!

Yup.....you got that right!!!

It's snowing again

:snowball:
But we must face realities, we are in CANADA you know......ey?
It's been mighty cold here in Montreal, a little better today, -6, but yesterday was around 15 degrees below ZERO, and more with the wind chill! We are getting a bit of snow, not as much as you right now.
So snuggle in with a nice Hot Rum Toddy, and good movie, or book, snacks, comfy clothes, a crackling fire, and hide for the rest of the day!!!!!!!!

Later, oh by the way Happy New Year to you!

Sorry to hear the New Year started off bad for you but I'm glad you were hurt in the accident and that you are going to get the car fixed soon!! Praying that your cold goes away soon!!

Hope the rest of the year goes a lot better for you!!!!

Good morning!
It is cold and windy out and we have some more snow on the way. I decided to get my food shopping over with this morning before the snow arrives. We have 40 mph wind gusts out there. It was not fun getting all of my groceries in to the car and then in the house. I'm happy that's over with. My house feels so cold right now from the winds.
My husband had to leave early this morning to be on a job, I don't expect him home until later tonight. Only one of my girls had to go in to work today. I'm going to take the other two out soon to grab something for lunch. Not too much else going on for me, just daily chores. It should be a pretty quiet day.
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!
Stay safe and keep warm!

Hey Ryan ;)

Me too!!

How are your two favorite girls feeling?

Amie is better, but little Anna is still not feeling good. She gets "clingy" when she is sick which I don't mind. I know there will be a day all too soon when she thinks she's too old to snuggle with her daddy. :)

Thank you for checking. Hope you are doing good and staying warm.

Good morning all. Hope you all have a great Saturday. Not much going on here...just running errands.
